View 3 RepliesI was just wondering, as I'm not that familiar with intermediate features of non-NOS windows releases. I noticed that when you log into different computers on the home network, they are still prefixed with a domain (the computer name/hostname). Is there a way to put all of my home computers on the same "domain" ? Of course, I mean to do this without the use of a server/domain controller.
I know that windows 7 has homegroups,ut i'm not sure if this will work the same way.
I have an issue merging an user to an existing domain on my windows 7 ultimate 64bit OS. let me explain my problem in detail. I am using almost 20 computer connected to my domain successfully those computer are using windows 7 32 bit. Now i trying to connect this 64bit OS to my domain. I created user account. When I try to mention the domain it is giving the error message that " The Domain is not available ". Also while I was creating the use account, I saw the entirely an different wizard for user account. There I was not able to mention the domain name. I was wondering weather I need to change any views or I need to change any settings. I don't know.

I have a windows 7 pro that is connected to the domain, but it has a lot of issues, it can discover only about 5 machines from about 50.Also no one in the network can access in through LAN although it can join the domain with no problem. I tried lot of things like:
- Rejoin it to the domain.
- Rename PC name before rejoin it to the domain.
- Remove all profiles and create new ones.
- Remove DNS entry and AD computer entry regarding this machine.
I think it is a system problem not a network problem, but i don't wanna reinstall the system as i have a lot of licenses for it and it is hard to reset these licenses again.
I have Wordpress installed in a server. When I type my domain name on the browser to login Worldpress nothing happens. It is like Win 7 does not recognize the domain name. When I do the same thing in Win Vista or XP it works OK?

View 2 Replies View RelatedI have a desktop which is connect win server 2003. How I can change the domainn of win 7 for server.
View 1 Replies View RelatedI have a number of new Window 7 laptops and have joined the company domain with no problems (SBS running Windows 2003).When I was on the domain I set up a number of printers by browsing the server mainserver\OkiC9650 and finding the printer and it and correctly installs the drivers and provides me with full functionality for the printer. However, if for some reason I have to leave and then rejoin the domain, and I don't delete the printers first, when I rejoin the domain the printers are no longer showing (as one might expect), and when I try to add them again, or add anything connected to themainserver\OkiC9650 I get an error.
It don't think it is anything to do with the printer as I can't connect to any printer in this way.Although the 0x00000006 indicates a permission problem it is not that or a setting problem as it works the first time and no changes are made other than leaving and rejoining the domain. It happens with four laptops, two different makes, and three different models.I don't think it is a Server problem as I have tried leaving the domain, and deleting the Computer name from the Active Directory, and even tried giving the joining computer a different name between leaving and joining. I was hoping if it was recognised as a new computer it would work at least once - but still no good.I am therefore left with the assumption that the problem is with Windows 7, there must be some sort of reference not being cleared that results in a 'duplication' type error when I try the same action again.
If I delete the printer first, before leaving the domain, I can rejoin the domain again and setup the printer correctly, the problem is when I don't delete the printer first, I can never then connect to the printer in this way (I can connect directly to the printer if I use the printers IP address).I am convince the problem is with Windows 7 - can anyone suggest where the mainserver\ reference is being held in Windows 7, or if I am barking up the wrong tree if they could suggest what tree I should be barking at?

I have a laptop with Windows7 from work, registered to the domain from my company. At home I have a desktop with XP with shares on it. When I bring the laptop home and try to access the shares on the desktop, I am asked to enter user and pass (ok, I use the admin account on that desktop), the Seven shows me the list of shares. Very good, you might say. That is so until you try to enter the shares when it pops a "network error": "Windows cannot acess \xp-desktopshare1 You do no have permission to access \xp-desktopshare1. Contact your network administrator to request access." What access?! These are full shares for the admin account used to authenticate.
I have a third machine with Seven on it, this time a personal machine, not registered to a domain, and with this one I can properly access the shares mentioned earlier. Also, my laptop from work, can properly access shares from my work place and shares on the personal laptop with Seven on it. So this issue happens only when trying to access shares on XP at home.
I'm running Windows 7 Ultimate on a network w/ 2003 Windows domain. When I first added this computer to the domain, everything worked fine for about a month. Then one morning I came into the office, tried logging in and received a message that the computer has lost it's trust connect with the domain.I logged into the server w/ the DC, reestablished the trust connection from the server side but the comp is still giving me the "Can't establish trust connection" error message when I logged in. My current workaround is unplug the network cable, log into the comp then replug the network cable.
