After a fresh install of Windows 7 Pro. I can't get to the internet when login to my company domain using IE 8. When I log off and login to the same machine locally I can get out to the internet. Also, when login to the domain, using the ping command I get a reply from anywhere outside of my network.

View 1 Replies View RelatedI am an IT manager at a school (800 users in total). I have only recently taken over, and we have migrated to Windows 7 (also upgraded the domain to Windows 2008 R2). The school employs a rather expensive IT consultant (friend of the Bursar), who is constantly on my case, as i literally ripped his solution apart (RM if anyone knows that name?) as I convinced the school to move to a more standard / corporate solution for the IT.This consultant is stating that the performance (logon times) are slow, and i wanted some feedback on the people on here.
In a nutshell,
- Windows 7 desktops (32 bit, Professional)
- Windows 2008 R2 domain.
- GPO used obviously for locking down the OS - though a low number of GPO's
- GPP used for mapping of drives (students get 2 drives, staff up to 6 depending on role)
- GPP used for mapping printers (30 printers onsite, but never more than 3 printers mapped per user session)
On average it takes approx 25 seconds from log on to the desktop.I've always though that if the log on time was below 30 seconds in the above environment then that was acceptable? Not blistering, but certainly not "slow"?
I have the same issue the other user mentions. I can log on as a domain admin, but not as a domain user. There are only 4 profiles in the registry, with no .bak extensions:
1 is the default user
2 is the localservice account
3 is the networkservice account
4 is the local "Administrator" account
I was assuming the problem was with the default user, so I followed the article previously mentioned, and changed the RefCount from "1" to "0", and the State was already set to "0". I am still unable to log in with any domain account except for domain administrators.

However when I try join the domain i get the following message:"The following error occurred attempting to join the domain "MYDOMAIN"The specified domain either does not exist or could not be contacted.If I do a nslookup it resolves the domain controller, as well if i watch the traffic I can only see UDP traffic on that IP, however i can still browse the web from it?

I accidently screwed up the administrator account and once, i tried to install a software and it came "You need a administrator password to proceed"so i typed it then it came the error"this user has not been granted the requested logon type at this computer i tried a lot but its still not working and i cant install anythin.

View 1 Replies View RelatedI have a windows 7 pro that is connected to the domain, but it has a lot of issues, it can discover only about 5 machines from about 50.Also no one in the network can access in through LAN although it can join the domain with no problem. I tried lot of things like:
- Rejoin it to the domain.
- Rename PC name before rejoin it to the domain.
- Remove all profiles and create new ones.
- Remove DNS entry and AD computer entry regarding this machine.
I think it is a system problem not a network problem, but i don't wanna reinstall the system as i have a lot of licenses for it and it is hard to reset these licenses again.

View 1 Replies View RelatedI have a number of new Window 7 laptops and have joined the company domain with no problems (SBS running Windows 2003).When I was on the domain I set up a number of printers by browsing the server mainserver\OkiC9650 and finding the printer and it and correctly installs the drivers and provides me with full functionality for the printer.However, if for some reason I have to leave and then rejoin the domain, and I don't delete the printers first, when I rejoin the domain the printers are no longer showing (as one might expect), and when I try to add them again, or add anything connected to themainserver\OkiC9650 I get an error.
It don't think it is anything to do with the printer as I can't connect to any printer in this way.Although the 0x00000006 indicates a permission problem it is not that or a setting problem as it works the first time and no changes are made other than leaving and rejoining the domain.It happens with four laptops, two different makes, and three different models.I don't think it is a Server problem as I have tried leaving the domain, and deleting the Computer name from the Active Directory, and even tried giving the joining computer a different name between leaving and joining. I was hoping if it was recognised as a new computer it would work at least once - but still no good.I am therefore left with the assumption that the problem is with Windows 7, there must be some sort of reference not being cleared that results in a 'duplication' type error when I try the same action again.
If I delete the printer first, before leaving the domain, I can rejoin the domain again and setup the printer correctly, the problem is when I don't delete the printer first, I can never then connect to the printer in this way (I can connect directly to the printer if I use the printers IP address).I am convince the problem is with Windows 7 - can anyone suggest where the mainserver\ reference is being held in Windows 7, or if I am barking up the wrong tree if they could suggest what tree I should be barking at?
