Logging In Locally When On Domain In Windows 7
Oct 9, 2012
Typing the user name "administrator" automatically sets it from domain to local. My question is, is there something I can change, such as the registry or user profile so that a different account (such as larry) does the same as administrator, which is automatically change from domain to local upon typing the name in the user field?

I'm in the midst of implementing Windows 7 Professional in a high school. Currently I'm running a Win2k3 R2 active directory where each machine has its own login. I created my cloned image and replicated it to several student computers to test. For some reason on only 1 of the machines it won't save any domain user's profile information to the hard drive in the user folder.

So I recently added a new system running x86 windows 7 to the network, and when I log out or shut down using a local account, everything works as it should. If I log on to one of the user domain accounts, however, these actions don't work. Instead, the start menu and icons disappear and I'm left with the desktop background indefinitely.Unplugging the network cable and plugging it back in then makes the system proceed to regular log out / shut down procedures, but I'm not sure why... Any ideas on some setting that is mis-set?Also, this only seems to happen the first time I attempt to log out or shut down since the last reboot. So, if I log in to a domain account and try to log out, it will do this "freeze". Then, I unplug the network cable and plug it back in, and then the system logs out of the account. If I then log back in and try to log out again, it will work fine. But if I reboot the machine, the problem returns.

I have been tring to setup my dvr to be able to access my security cameras from a remote location, but have not had much luck. My present problem is when I try to log into my DVR locally, using my lab top, the web service page that comes up does not look normal. There is a message that reads THIS WEB PAGE IS IN CHINESE. There is a translate button on the far right of the screen but when I click it nothing happens. To access the DVR I put the IP address of the DVR into the address bar. I have tried both wired and wireless.I do have a desktop that is hard wired to the same netgear router that the DVR is wired into and I can access the DVR locally from it with no problem.
I am tring to get the labtop to access the DVR locally before I take it out to try to access the DVR from a remote location.Notes: I just got this Wireless Netgear router a few days ago. My old router was a linksys (not wireless).. I got this Labtop from my daughter. It is about four yrs old. Running windows 7 on labtopRunning XP on desktop. I am thinking this might be an activeX problem but not sure.I am still a little green on windows 7. I went in and enabled all of the activeX options. I did this while talking to a tech from netgear

I installed an HP C4680 all in one printer on my Windows 7 desktop. I set it up to do network sharing. A lot of my computing is done via my Macbook Pro which accesses my local network wirelessly. I configured it to do remote printing via my Windows 7 desktop.Everything's been working ok there, but yesterday I found that I can no longer printer on my local printer from my Windows 7 desktop! Even trying to print a test page yields nothing. I can still scan from the scanner, and read and write SD cards from the card reader. I tried the troubleshooting wizards. I tried delting the printer, unplugging the USB cable and plugging it in again to have it reinstalled. Still no dice. One thing that I noticed, is that when the printer is reinstalled it's named "HP Photosmart C4600 series (Copy 1)". When I try to rename it to remove the "(Copy 1)" I'm given an error saying that another printer with that name already exists. However, nothing by that name shows up on my printer list.

The other machine's are not there. When i try to open my shared folders, i get this message: (keep in mind that its translated)\CLOUDAFS-HZFPCLOUD is not accessible. You may not have the permission to use this network resource. contact the server administrator if you want to know if you have access permissions. I work off a Windows 7 Home Premium 64bit laptop when at home remoting into a Server 2003 R2. On the laptop I have a Epson Workforce 545 networked which won't display when I connect to the RDC. On the Local Resources tab, I have selected printers, clipboard, drives and ports on the RDC properties. Everty thing else works fine and I can see a CutePDF printer that is installed locally when connected to the RD.
I've used this setup with success on an laptop running XP just by simply ticking Printers in the Local Resources tab but can't seem to get it work with Windows 7. Does it have something to do with the port the Epson is using? If I click on Configure Port it shows it as LPR Printing. Is that relevant?

Under Win 7 (Home Premium 64-bit) I save login/password information for several programs, Dreamweaver 8, for example, for several sites that I manage. This worked fine for over a year after installing on win 7, but then suddenly (perhaps after a win 7 update, I don't know) that stored information disappeared and when I retype it (checking "save login/pw" ), it ALWAYS loses that information again--for other programs as well (also my email program--which is also a 32-bit program, in case that is relevant), so that I have to type the login/pw information in anew each time I restart each program. BTW, those same programs are able to save this information for those same programs on my work computer, which uses a different (32 bit) version of Win 7, and on my netbook, which also runs a lower version (Starter) of Win 7.

My offline files seems to work offline all the time, even when it shows me being online. I sync most of my business files to my laptop for working at home at night. When I edit a file from my Win 7 (pro, 64-bit) laptop, then go to edit it again, I get the version I had changed, but no one else does. This is causing huge difficulty, because my employees will start working in a sales forecast spreadsheet after I reconnect to the network and supposedly sync, but they don't get the latest version. Even doing a manual sync seems to make no difference.

I would like to know if there is a way, when you start up your PC, so that windows would log you in automatically without you having to click on your user account everytime. There surely must be some registry fix/tweak for that? Security is not an issue for me, don't use a password anyways.

I have multiple issues that have all cropped up in the past few days. I will try to list as much as I can and as much as I remember doing.I have Windows 7 Home Premium 64 bit running on a Toshiba Satellite L500-1WG. I have had no apparent problems until now. I used to run Kaspersky internet security (free package from online banking) but it wouldn't allow some facebook games to run so I disabled it and used Avast. Avast found a virus in a temp folder upon first quick scan (Win32:Malware-gen) and transferred it to the virus chest on 23.02.11 with a 'last changed' date of 21.12.2010 (was it on there that long and not found by Kaspersky?!?!)Anyway, all good until a boot time scan on 10.05.11 (first one I had run after figuring out what it was) and it found 2 viruses that I hit delete on rather than move to chest - Java:Agent-DI [Trj] and Java:Jade-A [Heur] both in LocalLow Java cache folders. Since then I have had nothing but problems, although I think my trying to do bits and pieces may have had a hand in it too.
I turned Kaspersky back on to do a scan and it didn't find anything except an android rooting thing that it deleted (downloaded but unused). I also tried Malwarebytes after seeing so many recommendations and it has found nothing (I disabled the other antiviruses as I know I had too many but not sure if that is enough or should they have been uninstalled completely?). My Event Viewer has LOTS of errors, warnings and possibly worrying information logs and then I tried turning off some unnecessary start up programmes. I think that is all I have done...When I tried turning it on the other day it kept stalling and freezing and so I turned it off for a day or so. Yesterday I turned it on, it started up fine to the log on screen and once I entered my password I got a black screen with only the cursor. It stayed like this. Today I tried again and it was the same. A few hours later I tried again and after about 5 mins of black screen it loaded up but the wireless wouldn't work. I started it in safe mode and it starts fine. I set it to start up in normal mode and it started but was running extremely slow.

I took my computer completely apart to clean it, put it all back together, fresh install of win 7 and now its giving me issues. when booting, it will hang right after the windows logo pops up, or it will let me login, then after a while either freeze, or the screen will go black and i will have to hit the reset button. it will either have me boot normally or go through the startup repair, that does nothing.

I built my computer about 1.5 years ago and I've never had a problem with it until yesterday. When I was playing a computer game my Windows 7 Ultimate x86 froze for 1 sec (during that 1 sec the display on screen turns all "glitchy"). Imminently after the Blue Screen pops up and I have typed out what the it says beblow. Now everytime I start up my computer and log into windows (my computer takes a little longer than usual to boot up now) the computer shuts off 5-10 minutes and shows the blue screen again.

I performed a clean boot by disabling everything except microsoft stuff at startup. The item I eliminated was adobe reader speed launcher. I can not see it in my programs or features so I can uninstall it. With it disabled..my computer stopped hanging.

I am really curious how to disable Windows logging. I was reading something on Wikipedia about privacy and security; and came across something interesting that I cannot find much about on Google. It stated that "many programs and operating systems are set up to perform data logging of usage". For example, this might be recording the times when the computer was in use, or some applications we use on Windows. Whoever wrote the article stated that its possible to disable Windows logging - but my question is - is it?

Is there a way to stop this? I'm trying to play around with the options and what not but its quite difficult to do when the computer keeps logging my account off. Its Windows 7 Home Premium 64 Bit. Its made by HP. The box says "Pavilion dv5. dv5-2074dx."

After turning on my computer today, I noticed that the "shut down" icon in start menu had the familiar triangle referring to updates. I closed things down and selected it to "Shutdown and install updates". I keep my Windows as up to date as i can, so this was a recent update.
The problem is that upon starting the computer, I could get to the log in screen with both the Administrator and user accounts visible, but when attempting to select either one to log in, the screen flickers black once for a half-second, then kicks me back to the user select screen. How can i undo this last update without logging in? I tried inserting the windows disk to use the system restore feature, but it claims that "No restore points have been created on your computer's system drive" yet as far as I've seen, each update has been initiated with a "creating system restore point" loading bar, so how can this be? I've attempted logging in in safe mode as well. The same black screen, it just took longer before I got kicked back.
Or additional information I can provide?
Edit - If possible, does anyone know of a program or command that can bypass the log in screen and immediately log in? Maybe if I could do that and get into the system itself, I could undo the upgrade on my user account.
