How safe is it to buy a CyberPower Backup for my computer and how far away should I have it? I'm thinking of a 625VA for 2 computers to just shut down when the power goes off. Is there any reason why I can't have 8 foot extention cords (The big 3 prong type) to go from the Cyberpower Backup to my computer and big monitor?
After attempting to start my Laptop in Safe Mode, it loaded drivers normally only to crash a few seconds later. A prompt message appears but is impossible to read because Windows immediately reboots upon showing the prompt.
after moving my gaming computer upstairs, plugging everything back in (with no new hardware except for a new wired cable), and it gave me the BSOD with Page fault in nonpaged area, and 0x0000050. With only a different sound system hardware and different network cable which has been used previously by another computer upstairs, it failed to function correctly. I followed few tutorials, most asked me to go to safe mode, which I cannot do because it leads me back to the BSOD into the same cycle over and over and over again. I do not have my Windows 7 disc. Is there a possibility that an internal hardware was damage on the way moving it upstairs?
When I copy lets say 13 files from my hard disk to a pen drive, copy paste happens. While the process is on, it shows 14 files being copied, i.e. 1 file extra. Whe I look into the destination copy folder, I find only 13 files. And when I delete that folder, it mentions 14 files being deleted. Which is this one extra file
I've had this problem no matter which version of Windows I've used: I have trouble getting into Safe Mode. Some technicians have told me to tap F8 while the computer is starting. The Windows 7 Help says to hold down the F8 key while starting. I need to get into Safe Mode and have been trying both methods - and nothing is working. I think there is a precise time when you have to hold down the F8 key - but I can't find it and need some guidance.
I was downloading from a movie torrent site without any problems but since yesterday it stopped, I was getting a message from my download client that ''tracker was sending invalid data''. I contacted the administrator there and whatever he did my download started. After that he said that I need to ping their address and tell them what I see.Is that safe?
Is there any such thing as truly free software? Do you all know if the following "free" programs come with spyware or add-ons which can slow down my computer: CCleaner (for clearing Temp files and websurfing Cache) ImgBurn (for burning DVDs and Image files) BurnAwareFree
I've only used VMs for testing known apps, development work and testing OSes.How safe are they from infecting the host with a virus? Normally I use a seperate computer or i switch harddrives and boot up to another drive, so there is no chance for a virus.
I was playing wow when my computer just crashed and shutdown. I rebooted and got the CI.dll error. I tried windows repair but that did not help. I can't run safe mode, or any mode to run scans. I can only get to the desktop with the "boot without driver signiatures" I can't run TDSS kaspersky tool.
Pavillion p6310y with Windows 7 Home.Is there a way to get to the recovery section of the above mentioned computer? I tried to get to the recovery from the boot up but it goes straight to the regular boot. It is infected with the W32/blaster worm
I have Windows 7 Home Premium in a laptop. How do start it in Safe Mode? I have malfunctioning antivirus program that won't uninstall nor shutdown, and I'd like to try fixing it with Safe Mode.
So the other day I boot up my computer and try to login under my user account. I get a "The user profile failed the logon. The user profile cannot be loaded" error message. After looking inline i find out how to fix this. The problem is I can't seem to boot into safe mode. It's an Asus motherboard P8H67-M series. I've tried hitting F8 and F5 (as was suggested with Asus boards), but neither of them work. I login under another use and type msconfig form the start menu to try and manually set the computer to boot into safe mode. I get asked for the admin password (my user account is the admin account), so I type is the password and I get a "windows cannot find C:windowssystem32msconfig.exe" error message.
So i just purchased a new computer to run World of Warcraft xDThis morning my computer wasnt working as intended. I booted it up and it went through the usual stuff, the winds logo popped up, then suddenly the screen went black and i got the message "out of range" on my monitor.I restarted the computer and the same happened again, after the windows logo, the screen goes blank.I then ran it in safe mode + networking and everything was fine !I tried "repair my computer" on the start up menu, but the PC still wouldnt run in normal mode.I tried configuring my PC to an earlier point in time, but the PC still wouldnt run in normal mode .I tried uninstalling my drivers (within safe mode) and it still wouldnt boot up in normal mode.
Could it be the monitor resolution? if so whyyyyy? it's been working fine for two weeks. Also yesterday we had about 5 random power cuts? could this have caused the problem?Everything works fine in safe mode so i think it's not a hardware problem, but normal mode just gets me to the windows logo loading screen then the monitor goes black

I have attempted to download 7zip from CNet, but my computer warns me that it could damage my computer. I tried to verify the signature but I was unable to follow the directions. My option is to run the program without verification. I'm reluctant to do that unless a tech can assure me that its' reasonably safe.
have a HP Pavilion dv7, uses Windows 7, last night start menu error box pops up, cannot load start menu or desktop, cannot system restore or any suggested ideas, figured I'd go to safe mode .. nothing, completely ignores F8 key tapping or holding.
couple of days ago my internet slowed down and now it's pretty much died. I have an ASUS K53E. I'm running chrome with windows 7. I've run a norton scan, uninstalled/ reinstalled norton. Everything works fine in safe mode.
I restarted my laptop in safe mode but something happened and it wont start, it just keeps rebooting trying to go into safe mode. I can get into the command prompt. How do I take it out of safe mode in command prompt?
Problems come faster than ever.I want to visit a web site.I trust it but I get a message its questionable and not safe. So I say never mind I want to go and have to verify that five times and then when I finally get through that I get a message asking me for my product i.d. serial number for some web access thing? Now how did that happen?
My computer (HP Pavilion Elite m9040n) has been shutting down more and more frequently. It first started after I upgraded from Vista to Win 7 64bit.

It usually happens after a Windows Update or other updates. At first running the Windows Repair Utility would solve the problem but sometimes I got a message that Windows Repair was unable to solve the problem. Now when I try to use Windows Repair the Blue Screen flashes and I get the above error message.
Now even when trying to start in Safe Mode, the Win Files load then the Blue Screen flashes and Im back to (A problem has been detected and Windows has shut down etc.)
I have an L505D-GS6000 Toshiba Satellite with Windows 7. At the moment, I can only go on my lap top in safe mode. When I try to log onto it normally, it starts loading the things on my desktop and then freezes. I know that in safe mode, you are limited to what you can do, so I'm not sure if having no sound also is because of the safe mode or if it's related to what ever the problem is with the lap top as a whole.I have talked to a few people about it, some say I may have a virus that has frozen my drivers.I have Malawarebytes, and have run a full scan and nothing came up. I also am no able to download anything.
My parent's Desktop was having a side x side error and i've been trying to help her get it repaired. Her problem is that none of the programs will open except for internet explorer. All other applications give the sxstrace.exe error and won't open. I advised her to hit F8 and get into safe mode so I could try and help her further. She couldn't get that to work so I had her force safe mode through msconfig. That worked and got her into safe mode and she's still getting the sxs error and can't get anything to work for her. I advised her to go back into mconfig and uncheck the safe mode boot and wait til I come home and fix it. Now the problem is when she tries opening the msconfig, she gets an error on that saying it can't open the application with the error code 0xc000142 Now she's stuck in safe mode with no networking and the computer is basically useless. I'm 800 miles from home and won't be there until thanksgiving and i'm trying to help her over the phone so im kind of limited here. I was trying to get remote assist going for her but she couldn't install that either without the sxstrace.exe error.
they're running windows 7, If i remember correctly it's the x64 version.
Toshiba laptop hangs at pick user screen when booting normally. Tried creating new user acct, same result. Boots up in safe mode. Re-seated memory sticks, hard drive, no change. Tried updating drivers too. AV scan finds nothing.
Earlier today I wanted to get into Safe Mode in order to cleanup up leftover files from an uninstall of Catalyst.I have a hard time getting into safe mode via my BIOS so I generally use msconfig. I always set it to run straight into Safe Mode (which is what I did today). When I restarted I got the 01E BSOD. I'm assuming it is another driver or that my system files are corrupted.I checked my hardware and individually ruled that out.Now I am in a situation where I cannot boot into the regular OS to try and figure out what is really going on (gather the dump files etc..). I have been trying to access msconfig via the command line from my DVD but can't figure out how to get the right permissions and actually run it to turn off the safe mode boot option. I use a RAID 0 startup so I have to load the RAID drivers when I pop in the DVD. Then I have to switch drives from the command prompt from "X" to whatever the RAID drive shows up as.
my pc semi froze, wouldn't let me access control manager and browsers forze but other applications were working. So i decided to restart my pc and upon restarting it froze on the bootup screen (windows logo). I tryed accessing safe mode but got stuck on " windowssystem32DRIVERSCLASSPNP.SYS ". Once it crashes on the boot up and I press the reset button my main drive is no longer detected by my bios but when i fully shut down the pc and start it up again it gets detected no problem. I have browsed around and I have seen a lot of people stating it was bitdefender, but as I cannot gain access to my safe mode to restore or delete it I have no idea if it really is that. I would like to hear your suggestions on the problem, I could take my ssd out and put it in an external drive and plug it into my laptop to try and delete bitdefender but as its mounted to the floor of an antec 902 and its pretty jam packed in there id need to removed my gfx cards hard drive trays, and power supply just to get to it and that is something I really dont have the time for.
I currently have a HP Pavilion dv6799ep running Windows Vista Premium 32-bit, but I got a new license for Windows 7 Professional 64-bit and I would like to know if the Windows Vista 64-bit drivers will work on this version.
