I have Windows 7 Ultimate, 64 bit with 6 GB of Ram and SSD. After restarting the comp, the memory use is around 23% (of 6 GB). After working on it for a while, running browsers, spreadsheets, playing a game the memory use just pretty high (with just a few browsers open and Football Manager around 80%).
However, the problem begins when I close all the programs, essentially going to fresh, post restart state. In this idle state, the memory use if just over 60%. This obviously seems wrong. This is over 60% use of physical memory. What is the issue here, memory leak or something else. Occasionally, when I have a bunch of things opened, the computer will hang because the memory use is at the peak.
I have win 7 64 bit and have noticed that once my PC is active for more than a few days, the idle memory usage goes up dramatically. See pic, even with only idle processes, i am using 49% of 4gb ram. When i resart my PC, idle memory usage goes down to around 25%, which is a much more sane number. I've tried using a memory cleaning program called "CleanMem", but it doesn't seem to do anything.....
I have an HP G62 laptop and it has been running wonderfully for a year, it is a farely new computer. Then last week it was been running terrible slow due to the physical memory being almost 95% used. I have an i5 processor and 3GB of RAM and all i use this for is for school, I have all microsoft tools (word, powerpoint, etc.) and I don't game on this computer. I have been deleting unnecessary programs and defragmenting but it hasn't seemed to change anything. I have Norton 360 and i dont think I have a virus, or maybe i do??? My computer takes extremely long amounts of time to open internet explorer, itunes, or anything.
I recently reformatted my computer for this issue but it did not seem to help. Right after I turn my computer on, and my few programs boot up, my computer sits at 1.35 Gb of ram usage. After playing even a single game it jumps to about 1.60 Idle. The only programs I have turned on are Steam, EVGA Precision and nvidia control panel, etc. Here is a list of the processes I have running, where are they coming from and is something wrong where it's taking up this much memory?I was also dealing with a problem of my CPU using 25% for system interrupts after waking up from sleep, I noticed a lot of errors/warnings in the event log, I'm wondering if these could have something to do with it.Only the ones for AUG 29th are since I turned on my PC today (and didn't let it go to sleep)
Everything went fine, computer performs top notch. But I'm having several issues (note, these issues happened BEFORE the CPU overclock also, so that isn't the problem).
1. Randomly (doesn't happen often), my computer will seem to lose internet connection. I'm hard wired right to my Linksys E3000, and it says that I'm connected, but no internet sites will load. Also, I cannot open the "network and sharing center". It just won't let me click on the icon in the task bar. And my CPU usage hovers around 25-30% when this happens. I downloaded and installed Process Explorer to see what the culprit was, and I noticed that of the 30% CPU usage, "System Idle Process" was taking up 75% of said CPU usage. It doesn't happen often at all, and restarting clears the problem up. But even though this SSD is lightning fast.
2. Smaller problem, but sometimes when I want to shutdown or restart, my computer just wont. It will sit at the "shutting down" screen forever and will basically do nothing, like there is a process in the background preventing it from doing its thing.
I just got Windows 7 home premium. I can't figure what to do. I start windows and as long as I am using it stays open. But if I do nothing for about 2 min. It goes back to where I sign in to Windows again. Then I have to enter my password again,to get back in to Windows again. There must be a setting for this, but I can't find it.
Having recent problems with my windows 7 OS. I'm getting BSOD on startups. This started recently and occurs during idle or viewing videos. I've tried WhoCrashed and found out it might be my nvidia drivers for my mobo, but I've updated them and still crashes. I'm running windows 7 32bit.
My netbook will bog down horribly. Rebooting clears things up - but only temporarily. This is a Toshiba NB505 Netbook running Windows 7 Starter 32-bit. Below are screen shots of task manager and msconfig.
Recently purchased an Acer 5733. Why will my new higher zoom setting not remain as such, until I wish to reset. It seems erratic from one web page to another, and often automatically returns to 100%. Sometimes when I return to previous viewed web pages, the higher setting will have remained. If I set at 125% I want it to stay there!!
So I have recently installed Speccy, and I noticed that while idling my motherboard tends to sit around 55-60c (in the orange) and my HDD usually sits around 37c.
However, as of today, my motherboard was 63c and my hard drive was 54c.
I was curious if this was normal, as I am currently running a Disk Defragmentation or if I should go to Best Buy tomorrow and get a can of compressed air.
I've got 2 HD5870's in crossfire that have been running fine for about 8 months but now the fans are running very fast after boot.AMD Catalyst is reporting temps of 90-92 degrees and fan speeds of 60% when I have no applications running. I've checked Task Manager and nothing seems out of the norm ( at least checking CPU/RAM usage, that doesn't reflect on GPU usage).
My CPU idle temps increased A LOT after windows updates (Ultimate 64). And not just after rebooting, but all day long. Just in idle. When I start any work on the laptop, it drops to normal levels. Scary, cause I make pauses often and let it shutdown the screen and sleep. What a surprised when I return to work and check it reached 70C when it was supposed to be cooler than before, obviously. Once I touch the mouse and resume working, it drops fastly and everything seems to be normal. WTF? And its happening only after updates, and only on Ultimate, because when I had Home Premium it never occured.
I find that if I run chkdsk and watch the memory usage in task manager it jumps by about 50MB every 2 seconds or so until it either finishes or hits around 3.2GB at which point my physical memory shows 99% used (I'm running 4GB), and the system of course slows to a crawl.f you just run a quick chkdsk on your boot drive you may not notice it, but try running something longer like chkdsk /r on a flash drive or chkdsk /f on a bigger internal drive (but not your OS drive as this would require a reboot) and watch the memory usage climb. I have duplicated this on both systems I have running Windows 7. My XP machine (checking the same USB flash drive) uses a much more normal amount of memory for chkdsk (20 - 30 MB).
It all starts when i try to open one flv video downloaded from you tube to my desktop.when i try to open it in VLC player.it doesn't do anything ,laptop goes hang.I checked my task manager and found that explorer.exe is consuming 100 % of cpu .I exit my explorer by endprocess and later on on activate from new task.I some how manged to delete that file. But now problem is that when i try to open some video file, the moment i right click the file ,explorer.axe goes 100 percent and system hangs. Now every time i have to exit explorer when this happens. Now I am gone mad with this and want to get rid from this . I have found many remedies from net ,but didnt make it all success.
Ok I am sitting here watching taskmanager, winword.exe is hovering between 10-11% cpu usage (with it now in background idle) and 20% or more when I do activity in a winword window. This seems abnormal a word processor needs so much cpu power even when just sitting idle, to give you an idea 10% on my current cpu would probably equate to about 80% on my laptop's celeron which is absurb for a word processor.I currently have 10 documents open, it seems to use about 1% per document, all documents are text only and average 1 page long.
I have two hard drive in my computer, one I use for blu ray movies and storage. Lately, when I access the movies folder on the hard drive, the green loading bar will start loading and my memory usage goes up to 98%, why is this happening all of a sudden, it renders my computer useless for about a minute or two.
Sometime I do somewhat intensive processing that causes 85% of my 6GB ram to be used. But when 85% is being used, my machine completely slows down for all other tasks including very basic tasks like opening Windows Explorer. Surely the remaining 15% should be more than enough to open Windows Explorer without any latency. I'm using 64-bit Windows 7 Ultimate. Also, I should state that the CPU usage is very low at these times.
After I used a System Image to restore my laptop, I think I am feeling my right palm rest area of my laptop to feel warmer than what I can recall from before the System Image. The right side of my laptop is where my SSD is located and since I have a SSD instead of a HDD, it shouldn't feel warmer. My fan also is quite hearable now...I think it has to do with my GPU Temp? It is always around mid-40Cs when it is on idle...
What other options might be causing the fan to keep spinning and the right side of the palm rest to be warmer? My GPU load is around 1%...And does my GPU Temp rise even more when I am charging the battery? I just charging the battery and it is up to 51C idle! I do not think there is a build up of dust or other things where the vent it.
I have 6GB of ram installed on windows 7 64-bit ultimate. For some reason I'm noticing that the usage will rise past 50%, but I am unable to find all of the used resources. From what I found, I'm using roughly 3.2GB of RAM when I add up all the memory usage under the processes tab.
for the past year or so- it has had this issue of incredibly high CPU and Physical Memory usage- I'll show a screenshot with my Task Manager up so you can see.I found this website by searching in google- and it led me to this thread: url...So I tried HijackThis- and I'll paste below what I got; including the error message that popped up when it first ran.But before I show you guys the screenshots and such; lemme e'splain. I almost NEVER turn off my computer- yes, I'm a horrible person, I know. And it's a laptop that I never take off the charger- again, horrible person, I know. Sorry. Not the point- and I do constantly leave up Photoshop and Google Chrome because I am either playing music or just don't have the patience to close and reopen them every couple of hours. HOWEVER- before recently; when I hit some very bad viruses (or at least I believe I did) my computer didn't mind running PS CS4 and Chrome- even with multiple tabs open. I contracted some horrid virus- and I don't remember all that happened but I took it to a store on my college campus and they repaired my computer- so all's well that end's well. After they fixed it- it worked great for a couple more months, and now maybe I have another one? All I know is my fan won't turn off and I can't even touch my desk under my laptop with how hot it is. A few days ago, I get this little Windows pop-up on my taskbar saying that my computer is unprotected and has been infected with a trojan (couldn't remember if it said which one exactly but I believe it said Alureon?). Afterward, my computer has been running very slow and the CPU/Memory widget I have pinned on my desktop shows they are pretty much maxed out, all the time, even while not having Internet Explorer or programs open (none that I have knowingly opened myself, anyway). I went out and bought McAfee Anti-Virus 2013 yesterday hoping this would resolve the problem. It did find 10 trojans and removed/quarantined them, but nothing has changed as far as system performance goes; everything still runs slowly, and opening even the smallest of programs like a calculator takes at least a few seconds.
I've recently noticed that my physical memory is around 76% when I'm not doing much! I have 6gb of ram installed, and I have checked windows task manager. The process that uses the most memory is firefox, which uses 300,000kb of memory. Here's a picture of my task manager: [URL]
When I start any game like MW3, BO2 , my Physical memory usage goes up to 50%.. My RAM is 4GB..This wasn't happening to me before.. It started getting like this 2 days ago.. Yesterday I ran a registry clean and it was ok.. Game wasn't lagging, but today it's lagging again.
I have a not so old PC.Running Win 7 64bit.Since today my PC starts to stutter and being weird and laggy. So i went to my Task Manager.. and found this.
1st I thought, hmm nothing weird.. Till i saw: Cashed 878 and : Availeble 850 free : 0 Installed memory: 4gigs.
I have a Sony with win 7 64-bit and 4 gigs of ram. About a month ago I started to notice my computer running slower. When I checked windows task manager (performance) it was using 3.5 gigs of my memory. I restarted the computer and it went down to 1.5. I have on occasion had to restart twice to get the memory down. I have run virus checks and reg cleaner but it still occurs.

I'm having quite a bug problem with a high memory usage in one of the svchost.exe processes(more than 120,00+ memory usage) and if i try to use another program like firefox, the computer crashes.I'm using an VAIO VGN-NW310F 2.2GHz Intel Pentium Dual-Core T4400 Processor (1MB L2 Cache; 800MHz Front Side Bus) 4GB (2GBx2) DDR2 800MHz Memory; 8GB Max 320GB 5400RPM Serial ATA Hard Drive; DVD/CDRW Optical Drive; 802.11 b/g/n Wireless Connectivity (Amazon information above.)
I have Windows 7 Ultimate 64-bit.Ok, so heres my problem. Maybe 3 or 4 days ago my physical memory started running at around 30%-40% (around 1.5gb), and this is at idle and starts happening right at start-up. Normally in past it runs at around 10% (600mb or so). I have noticed it mainly when plaing SW: Force Unleashed and Dawn of War 2. Gameplay runs fine for maybe 3 or 4 seconds then freezes for 10 seconds then is fine again for 3 or 4 seconds and so on. I have tried disabling services, clean boots, virus scans, searched every forum maybe in existance and have found no soloution. I have 4gd DDR3 Ram (2x2gb sticks) and a 3.2ghz Quad Core AMD processor. Also i have noticed that my CPU usage is around 1 or 2% which is rather small isnt it? In my event log, i have been getting multiple errors relating to a bad block in my hard disk. This error repeats about every minute or so.
