Archived Outlook Files Will Not Open On Outlook 2010?
Nov 28, 2011I have a new Dell Inspiron 14Z running windows 7 pro 64bit and i'm using Microsoft office 2010. I'm trying to retrieve archived emails that i backed up on an external hard drive from a previous computer, the files are .pst which is an outlook format but i keep on getting an error message saying the file is not an Outlook data file (.pst). i dont have any other way to retrieve these emails since they were deleted from the server and its about 1.5 years of work emails. Not sure what to do? should i move the files from the external driver to a different location on the computer and open them, or are they corrupted and need to be fixed?

Sep 1, 2012When turning on, the screen will display the windows startup animation and once finished a blank screen. After about 30 seconds to a minute a black screen pops up and asks if i would like to start up normally or run startup recovery. The Normal start up fails and ends up returning to the first black screen. When i run startup repair it says it cannot find a solution. I sent error message and the log said:All tests performed were successful.Root cause found: boot status indicates that the OS booted successfully.Root cause found: bad hard disk: Bugcheck 7a. Parameters = 0xfffff8a000efeb80, 0xffffffffc0000185, 0x1753e08c0, 0xfffff900c0770000.Each session reported a single root cause which ended up being one of those two. After that i went under additional options and signed into system recovery using one of the users and selected startup repair again and went under problem details:

I tried looking up aolutions online but couldnnt find one that was identicle. I then tried diskcheck using command prompt, under C: /F and /R.Sometimes the processes would complete with no errors or solutions and sometimes the processes would get stuck on a certain file and would not move even after 10 to 20 mins alone. Although when the processes do complete at the bottom they would say something along the lines of "log could not be saved : status 50" or something. The computer runs Windows 7 64-bit and is an Asus A35S series.
Pulsing Blue Circle Behind Cursor - Cannot Use Keyboard
Oct 31, 2012On powering up the blue circle behind the cursor pulses regularly together with the thumbnail and blue header which pulse alternatively and I cannot use the keyboard during one of these pulse cycles which occur about every 3 seconds which makes it impossible to type anything! I have 'solved' this occasionally by taking battery out, disconnecting power and opening in Safemode and then closing down and rebooting normally but there is no clear pattern to resolve this except to leave the machine permanently powered up - which works until the next Windows update and off we go again.

Dec 12, 2012I'm running Windows 7 Professional 64-bit and Microsoft Home and Office 2010. Everything was working fine yesterday, but when I came back to work today and attempted to open Outlook 2010, I instantly received a message saying: "Outlook failed to launch in safe mode. Do you want to start repair?" If you try to open it again, it opens a second process of OUTLOOK.EXE*32 in the Task Manager. Here is what I've already tried to do while troubleshooting:
- Restarted the computer
- Performed a MS Office Repair, it completed, rebooted (Did this twice)
- Uninstalled MS Office 2010, rebooted, reinstalled it, rebooted, but same problem occurred
- Verified that the other Office programs work (Word, Excel, etc)
- Tried to run "outlook.exe /resetnavpane"
I'm currently stumped at the moment. I cannot even access the profiles through Control Panel > Mail.

A shadow icon appears in the task bar bearing the title ofthe msg I am trying to open, but I can only close it down, not display the window for editing. Email and other functions work fine. And I can delete existing calendar events fine.I tried to follow suggestions made to Zack on Jan 13 and when i was setting up the new profile I noticed I cd not find a 'Personal Folder' compatible with 03 to send my msgs to.The range was limited to '97 thru '02.

My main computer crashed and data has been retrieved from the hard drive including all my Outlook Express dbx files. There are four years of e-mails in these files and critical that I be able to open them.
My only working computer runs XP. It has Outlook Express installed on it and was once used for e-mail, but no longer and not set up with my provider to send or receive if that matters at all. Other than sending and receiving all other OE program functions seem operational.
I have read many explanations on how to open dbx files on various sites - every one is completely different and most seem far beyond my skill level.
