View 3 Replies View Related2 Days ago I upgraded my PC and moved from XP to Windows 7 Enterprise x64. Everything was going smooth as butter, untill it was moment to use my internet. When I try to download something I get 50-60kb/s dl speed, 100 at max, while in XP my normal dl speed was around 5mb/s. I've installed all the newest drivers for absolutely everything, changed 3 lan cards, including the integrated on my motherboard, and all do the same stuff. My internet is super slow and I get disconnected every 5 or so minutes. I'm with a broadband (PPPoE) connection. I've heard there is a possibility my motherboard is faulty, because they were some mobos wich have problems with Windows 7. My setup is this:
Asus M4N68T AM3 Motherboard wich on the box claims its "Windows 7 Ready" AMD Athlon II X2 255 3.1GHz AM3 Dual Core Processor 2x2GB A-Data DDR3 1600G Memory Kit 500GB Hitachi 7K1000.C SATA II HDD Sapphire HD 5670 512MB GDDR5 Video card The lan card that I'm using in the moment is TP Link TF-3239DL
I have a ZXDSL 531B router from ZTE. Now here's the setup for the DSL router with 4 LAN ports, which all are connected to different PCs. And this happens to be the ONLY source of internet to all of us. Here's my needs, I want to control EACH LAN port speed, as it can be shared equally & not one stealing most / all bandwidth & rest left begging . Every computer uses Windows 7.
View 3 Replies View RelatedWhen I open World of Warcraft or Call of Duty modern warfare 2 Single Player my internet download speed drops from 160kbs-220kbs to 0kbs in about 5seconds. Faster on World of Warcraft. Call of duty it takes about 6minutes to drop out completely. When I watch Videos on VLC I think I run about 10kbps slower than normal as well (these are videos on my hdd) I think it could be Graphic card interference, or a fan interference maybe the processor but not sure. Or else it's its a windows 7 conflict with drivers and such.I am using my internal wireless card don't currently and probably wont have access to LAN connection anytime soon.
My network adapters Broadcom 802.11g Network Adapter "BCM43XX64" Using a driver from ASUS laptop site, the driver seems to be better than HP's Old 2009 driver. Cannot find my card on Broadcom's site. How ever the setup I got from ASUS has my card in it so it should be correct. BCM43XX64 Driver Ver. 5.100.235.19. Messed with security on router tried resetting it as well nothing helped. I don't think the router is the problem, I could go to Vista and get on online games just fine.
I am the only one the connection at the moment problem still exists I've Fresh reformatted Windows 7 2x to be sure. This current install isn't fully updated yet but I have all my laptops drivers installed. Earlier I had a fully updated install still had the issue.Well basically this is huge for me because I haven't been able to play World of Warcraft since I installed Windows 7 and I also I cannot run any 3d application and download / browse at the same time.Everything worked fine on Vista x64, but I really want to use Windows 7 I get way better benchmarks in almost every aspect compared to vista accept these networking issues.

i registered to the forum cause i am encountering a problem with my old internet's connection speed on a new computer.i have a 2mbs internet connection which has been enough for me for the past few years. problem is that since i bought a new desktop my connection is extremely slow, Internet videos lag almost instantaneously even on 360p (which didn't happen with the same connection on my old desktop). moreover, downloading from firefox or programs like origin speed seems not to go above 15 or 20 kbps while on my old desktop it reached its limit around 210kbps. as you understand this is extremely annoying, i am suspecting that the problem is hardware related. i am using a modem (the one my isp provided) and an ethernet cable to my desktop. additionally i am using windows firewall and microsoft security essentials.

Monitor says that my average download speed is 545 kbps and upload 400 kbps and my payed speed should be 10 mbps with 765 kbps (!).Kaspersky reports no viruses or ather pest what so ever and iI keep myself to familiar download sites which are supposedly safe.Today I did command prompt and got this result of which I did PrtSc but I will not post it since I know its not safe. What to do with it

I used to access shared internet from a router, now the router has no internet we only use it for local home sharing. I added the secondary adapter to connect to the DSL-modem directly.so now when I disable the 1st adapter my internet works fine. when they're both enabled internet doesn't work at full speed or sometimes not at all.
what affects internet speed so slow in laptop
View 2 Replies View RelatedThis is my first post/thread on TH.Anyways, I Just recently bought a laptop for HS, about half a month old. Everything Ran fine , Until My computer decided to not work anymore.
I did a system restore from a repair disk and fixed, the only catch, norton reinstalled. I had uninstalled norton and when I did a system restore, the program probably sent it's server a "scam" alert as the program didn't respond after, So I had to uninstall it manually, removing the files and all the registry entres. Now, week later, I notice that my computer is downloading EPICALLY slow. My speed is 11mbs, on my alternate computer, it will download a 11 mb file in less then a second, but on the laptop, 25 minutes? No way is that possible.
I did some registry scans, with wisecare 365, fixed the registry and download time has come down to 13 seconds, which is still crazy long,
im running windows 7 home premium, with 2gb of ram,2.2ghz,on a presario CQ62 notebook. i have high speed cable internet through roadrunner.i have no viruses, nothing at all running accept for the services that normallly run on this computer.cpu usage is at zero, and everything runs fine, that is untill i start surfing the internet. im only getting 6mbps or even lower at times, when i should be getting 10mbps or more.i have run multiple different speed tests through road runner, and they basically all conclude that my download speed is 6mbps or lower, sometimes reaching as low as 3mbps.alot of times it will start out at 20mbps and then dramatically drop to almost nill.my upload however seems normal and never changes at 49.i have another computer thats a dell with 4gbs of ram and a faster processor and im getting 20mbps+++ fast! does having a faster processesor and more ram make a difference while surfing the net? i have an emachine with only 1gb of ram and windows xp,and its faster then this new presario at surfing the net using this same line.its really noticeable just flippin through pages or doing searches
View 8 Replies View Relatedi have officially 100mb/sec speed, however sometimes i am unable to load pages, and download Internet clips etc. the information gets stopped in someway. other times things run fast and smoothly.a speed check was done - its normally over 100mb/sec. but when things are going wrong the test is unable to complete and the test seems to pause for some seconds then speed-up to perhaps 300mb/sec before getting stuck again when it goes to test upload speed.the computer uses no modem, or router - cable runs straight from the computer to the wall contact as instructed.

So I built a new computer yesterday and when I ran a speed test today I was only getting 9.5mbps when I usually get over 30mbps. It has something to do with this computer since my other computer is getting 30mbps. And yes this computer is connected directly through and ethernet cable.
View 2 Replies View RelatedI've had my standard DSL 6mbps (actually got 5.3mbps) service for a year, no real issues with it. Pages loaded as usual, always been using Google Chrome.2 weeks ago I switched over to U-Verse and "doubled" the speed to 12mbps (getting 10.5mbps). Now everytime i go to any website, doesnt matter if it's yahoo, google, youtue, tomshardware... it either fails to load completely and chrome says it can not find the site, or it will find the site but not load any images as all. Instead I have to keep hitting refresh 2-5 times until everything loads correctly.I tried this on my other PC too, and it does the same thing... i cleared out the cache and downloads so everything would run fresh but it didnt help. I then tried using IE, and still get the same thing.

View 7 Replies View RelatedI am having a confusing time trying to figure out why my internet went from 10+ Mbps down to <1 Mbps after simply downloading a wireless card driver. From the beginning: My wireless download speed was 10+Mbps, and I was using the Dell Wireless 1505 Draft 802.11n WLAN Mini-Card. This information is found in the Device Manager, under "Network".The driver for the card was 5.30.x.y (I can't remember the specific version number, but I do remember it was 5.30.something.something). Upon navigating to the Dell webpage, I wanted to see if there were any drivers for the same wireless card that were more updated, to perhaps increase performance.I navigated to the page for my computer (Dell Latitude D830), here. That page is for my model laptop. You'll notice that, in the drop down for "Operating System", there is no option to select Windows 7.Regardless, I navigated to the driver under "Network", the Dell Wireless 1505 Draft 802.11n WLAN Mini-Card, and downloaded it. It was version 5.60.188.1, from 11/9/2009. This is where my problem began. After installing the driver and rebooting, my internet speed instantly went to below 1 Mbps. I have no clue why installing a later wireless card driver would mess up my speed.
My only hypothesis is that the driver I downloaded is only compatible with Vista. Do I just re-download driver version 5.30.x.y or something to get it back? Why did it get so slow? How do I get my computer back to the download speed it was/should be?
My internet speed has really decreased since I installed windows 7 I have realised that my internet is so much more slow than usual. I'm prepared to upload screen shots of anything required I have tried doing a search for an update for my ATHEROS PCI-E ethernet device and it came back as sayin it was up to date.

I have a problem with my wireless internet card (Qualcomm Atheros Ar9485). It has trouble connecting to websites. Speed and ping is fine, but it is the connecting that often fails. I have done tests on my other computer and on my iPad, and everything works fine. I know that there is something wrong with the wifi card, because when I plug in my ethernet cable, everything works fine. My wifi drivers are up to date. I can still browse the web wirelessly, but 30-60% of the time, the connecting fails. I have had this kind of issue before (All browser slow/not loading pages) and I got the problem solved by switching wifi channels.

View 3 Replies View RelatedIf you prefer the normal way to change the .dll, then this will show you how to: Startup Sound - Change in Windows 7 Below is a and simple trick to change the startup sound for Windows 7 that does not involve changing a dll. So, for anyone who prefers not to tamper with dlls?First (this could be the hardest part): get the sndrec32.exe from Windows XP (just copy it from your old system). On your Windows 7 system, put the sndrec32.exe somewhere you prefer, e.g. in your Programs folder. Run the application once as an administrator and close it so it will register to the Registry. If you don't do this, you might get a warning message every time it runs. Create a shortcut to sndrec32 on your desktop. Right-click the shortcut > Properties > Tab Shortcut. Edit the target: add /embedding /play /close and the path to the wav file you want to be played at startup.E.g., change it to "C:Program Files (x86)sndrec32.exe" /embedding /play /close D:DocumentsMySound.wav Cut the shortcut from the desktop and paste it in your startup folder. (To access the startup folder, click START > All Progams, right-click on Startup > Explore all users ) Disable the normal Windows 7 startup sound. (Control Panel > Appearance and Personalization > Sounds and uncheck the option "Play Windows Startup Sound") And that's it! What you've done is you have simply told Windows 7 not to use its own startup sound, but to run sndrec32 at startup in invisible mode (embedding), play your wav file and close again. The effect is that you will hear your wave file being played with no lag during startup.
