Internet Speed Slow After Clean Install Windows 7 Connected With LAN?
Mar 13, 2012
My internet speed has really decreased since I installed windows 7 I have realised that my internet is so much more slow than usual. I'm prepared to upload screen shots of anything required I have tried doing a search for an update for my ATHEROS PCI-E ethernet device and it came back as sayin it was up to date.
2 Days ago I upgraded my PC and moved from XP to Windows 7 Enterprise x64. Everything was going smooth as butter, untill it was moment to use my internet. When I try to download something I get 50-60kb/s dl speed, 100 at max, while in XP my normal dl speed was around 5mb/s. I've installed all the newest drivers for absolutely everything, changed 3 lan cards, including the integrated on my motherboard, and all do the same stuff. My internet is super slow and I get disconnected every 5 or so minutes. I'm with a broadband (PPPoE) connection. I've heard there is a possibility my motherboard is faulty, because they were some mobos wich have problems with Windows 7. My setup is this:
Asus M4N68T AM3 Motherboard wich on the box claims its "Windows 7 Ready" AMD Athlon II X2 255 3.1GHz AM3 Dual Core Processor 2x2GB A-Data DDR3 1600G Memory Kit 500GB Hitachi 7K1000.C SATA II HDD Sapphire HD 5670 512MB GDDR5 Video card The lan card that I'm using in the moment is TP Link TF-3239DL
My usual net speed is 115kbp/s on every pc/laptop i have in my house connected to my modem via wlan . On everyone is the same .for example I use WLan to connect to modem that is aproximatle 2 meters away from my TP-LINK TL-WN422G small antena ( on the antena case is says 54 mbps's) that speed (115kbp's) is every day from 0-24h and its kind iritanting .
I have Bitdefender total security 2012. After few days ago my web browsing speed reduce significantly. But if i download files by using "Internet download manager" i can download full speed. I already disable Bitdefender firewall and enable Windows Firewall but problem still happen. Then i re-install (Upgrade) windows7 after that internet connection again speedup but after install Bitdefender again slowdown. So which Bitdefender setting bother me?If i use Firefox i can't surf but Chrome work but it surfing speed also slow but Opera work fine but not perfectly.
speed and I was spending my Int. traffic (which is limited) very fast (after that you get dial up-like speed).Yesterday, finally, I've installed bandwidth monitor and was stupefied.Even though I have these low speeds (spent traffic since 25.05.) I manage somehow to spend 2gb for three hours browsing and downloading a 240mb file via torrent.B. Monitor says that my average download speed is 545 kbps and upload 400 kbps and my payed speed should be 10 mbps with 765 kbps (!).Kaspersky reports no viruses or ather pest what so ever and iI keep myself to familiar download sites which are supposedly safe.Today I did command prompt and got this result of which I did PrtSc but I will not post it since I know its not safe. What to do with it
This is my first post/thread on TH.Anyways, I Just recently bought a laptop for HS, about half a month old. Everything Ran fine , Until My computer decided to not work anymore.
I did a system restore from a repair disk and fixed, the only catch, norton reinstalled. I had uninstalled norton and when I did a system restore, the program probably sent it's server a "scam" alert as the program didn't respond after, So I had to uninstall it manually, removing the files and all the registry entres. Now, week later, I notice that my computer is downloading EPICALLY slow. My speed is 11mbs, on my alternate computer, it will download a 11 mb file in less then a second, but on the laptop, 25 minutes? No way is that possible.
I did some registry scans, with wisecare 365, fixed the registry and download time has come down to 13 seconds, which is still crazy long,
im running windows 7 home premium, with 2gb of ram,2.2ghz,on a presario CQ62 notebook. i have high speed cable internet through roadrunner.i have no viruses, nothing at all running accept for the services that normallly run on this computer.cpu usage is at zero, and everything runs fine, that is untill i start surfing the internet. im only getting 6mbps or even lower at times, when i should be getting 10mbps or more.i have run multiple different speed tests through road runner, and they basically all conclude that my download speed is 6mbps or lower, sometimes reaching as low as 3mbps.alot of times it will start out at 20mbps and then dramatically drop to almost nill.my upload however seems normal and never changes at 49.i have another computer thats a dell with 4gbs of ram and a faster processor and im getting 20mbps+++ fast! does having a faster processesor and more ram make a difference while surfing the net? i have an emachine with only 1gb of ram and windows xp,and its faster then this new presario at surfing the net using this same line.its really noticeable just flippin through pages or doing searches
It's been some time since my Dell XPS M1530 laptop has been having Internet issues when connected via Wireless. It currently sports an Intel 4965 AGN ard with Windows 7/8 pre-installed drivers and is connecting wirelessly to a Thomson router. It connects smoothly, but its reception of packages sucks: I can't connect to FTP, load pages at all, and downloads are around 8 kB/s. (Max should be 250 kB/s). Whereas other laptops are able to load pages normallyAll cords are correctly connected, and I don't believe the card is the one malfunctioning since I can connect to other routers flawlessly.
I am currently installing windows and my installation is going extremely slow, I have no idea why. This usb key worked perfectly on my laptop and yet on my new computer it takes forever to reach the "starting windows" logo screen. [code]
However, I am unable to understand exactly what to do. I had to install Windows 7 Professional from the Home Edition and after the final reboot no internet connection was available. I am pretty inexperienced in computers and am unable to following the instructions posted prior.
i have a brand new toshiba laptop connected wirelessly. however it keeps showing connected however no internet access.i have a notebook as well that is brand new and it connects no problems what so ever.im using windows 7 home premium and 64 bit os.
i have a edimax usb adapter capable of 150mbps. also i have a router linksys e2000. the router is set to auto for the "N" connection. and its using 20 to 40mhtz. put it usually always connects at 72 mbps instead of 150.. sometimes when i switch a setting via my computer with the wifi, the usb connects at 150 but when i power down usually when i go to work, it goes back to 72 connection.
I've been having really annoying issues with my internet connection since i moved from vista to windows 7. I looked the forum several times to find an answer to the problem but i can't find anything close. I used to have this driver: 802.11n Wireless PCI Express Card LAN Adapter version 3.0.0.1 , my internet speed was running at the usual 10mb but i there was a lot to freezing and buzzing while the driver was installed making the usage of the computer impossible, so i updated to the same driver but version 3.2.1.0 which came out in april this year. Now mi internet connection can't even get to 1mb ( the house connection is 10mb) i checked the other computers to see if it was an overall problem but it looks like my computer is the only one affected.the others computers in the house run with windows vista and don't show any signs of troubles with the network.i have no clue what to do , but I've read that is actually the windows 7 that is presenting problems with network driver , is that true ?
I was dealing with a BSOD problem which I was helped with greatly over in the BSOD section. It basically led me to doing a fresh install of windows 7, and I have not had a BSOD since. But since I have done a fresh install, When I wake my desktop up from sleep mode, it takes about a minute to a minute and a half for it to connect to my network. Before I did the fresh install. I would wake my computer up, and my internet connection would be ready right away. My wireless adapter is TL-WN851ND. I have turned off the power save feature on my adapter, and also turned off the power save feature that windows has, and its still doing this, and I really cant figure out why. Its really not a HUGE deal, as long as it connects, but I am an extremely impatient person when it comes to things like this.
I swapped out the MB, CPU and memory in my rig. I did not reinstall windows 7. I was pretty impressed that this worked as well as it did but I have one nagging problem... The network upload speed has suffered a lot. It's not just throughput but the initial "connecting" handshake seems to take a while. For instance, if I go to one of the speed test sites the download is fine. It starts up immediately and is steady at around 20mbs. When this is complete it takes between 10 and 20 seconds for the upload test to start (just says connecting)... and only uploads at .5 to 1mbs. Historically this has been immediate and much faster? After much searching I found that disabling windows management instrumentation in msconfig restored my upload network connectivity. In a speed test the download didn't change, but after that was complete the upload started immediately and was around 5mbs.I disabled/re-enabled this several times to make sure that I got the same results. Is there any way to "fix" WMI without wiping/reinstalling? That's my last resort.
Other info MB upgrade was from a ASUS p5qse2 to ASUS p8z77-vlk CPU went from Q9550 to I7 3770K Troubleshooting went in this order: bounced router/modem bypassed router reinstalled network adapter disabled/reenabled windows firewall disabled wmi
I formatted my old PIII and installed Windows 7 Pro. Here below my configuration:
AOPEN AX34, P3 1.0 GHz, 1,5GB RAM, WD 120 GB, Pioneer DVR-116D, Plextor PX-716A, HIS 9600 256Mb, Canon i865, Windows 7 PRO
Now, this PC is only meant to run 2 programs and some browsing. The programs are not a problem they are running well, browsing it is. Essentially, with IE 9.0 it does not move, it takes ages to load pages. With Chrome is much better but still unacceptable for ordinary browsing. Is there any tweak I can do to improve the browsing experience? Also, is there a way in the registry to change (temporarily) the RAM parameter and let an application I want to install to believe I have 2GB instead of 1.5GB? Otherwise, that application will not install as they require 2GB min. RAM.
I have ADSL 512Kbps internet connection. Most of the time it too much slow. When i connect to the internet first minutes connection OK, but after few minutes left this worse thing happen. Do you have any idea for fix this issue?I use Kaspersky Internet security 2012.If i download files using internet download manager they use full speed, this issue only happen web browsing.
For some reason I am getting very slow DL speeds using Utorrent. It starts up ok, with a reasonably healthy Kbs, then slowly drops down to 1-2 Kbs.I have tried many torrents from different sources as to be sure it wasn't the source of the DL's.I remember there used to be a Tp open port patch for XP, does vista need something similar?
i'm having trouble with my dell laptop. My download speed is freakishly slow! On my other laptop, my download speed reaches 100KB/s which is normal for my internet speed (1MB). My new speed reaches 5-15KB/s. I actually upgraded from XP to 7
i am using pirated windows 7 for my intel first generation i3 processor.i got 4gb ram.I am getting very slow speed.I have deleted my antivirus software, temporary files and prefetches. but still i am getting slow speed.
a few days ago my down load speed dropped from 3mb/s to about 30kb/s same with upload. Service provider has done diagnostic and all is well plus the line speed is fine when checked with another PC. Full scan with MS security essentials checks all is well. Have about 120 open ports in netstat which I'm told is fare to many.
I bought a new computer last week, and i am connecting wirelessly to my router for internet, just like my other 3 roommates. My download speeds are in the 11-20 KB/S range while theres are in the 400-500 range! even my old low RAM computer is getting dl speeds in that range. I don't know why it is doing this, one of my roommates said he still downloads stuff on his win XP computer bc his new Win 7 comp is just as slow as mine! Is this a common problem with new computers in general? Is there an easy way to fix it, such as utilizing more priority to download speeds?

I recently installed the newest edition of VirtualPC on my Win7 ultimate machine. Having used VPC 2007 in the past, I was expecting a similar experience. Only to be disappointed when I installed a VM of Win7 Pro, and it was extremely slow. The processor speed reported was 5 Mhz. I find this unusual given my host machine's specs. I assured that Virtualization was enabled in the bios, and the integration tools were installed. In the past i have run XP and Win7 in VMs with great success on far less superior machines.

I have speed dial set as my start page. I've got 9 sites on Speed Dial. I don't use custom pics, although I do use a custom skin.Every now and then when opening Opera, it 'freezes' at the Speed Dial tab for 3-7 secs before displaying all tabs/windows. When it 'freezes', all tiles are the + symbol and are blank.Once it 'unfreezes', all is normal. It seems to happen sporadically upon a new start. Once the browser is open, the issue does not reoccur. It's been going on for the last 3 weeks to a month - same version, same skin.Basically, one day it just started happening without any changes to the browser. Prior to this, it loaded instantly 100% of the time.I've cleared cookies/cache the normal way and it's still happening. I've culled a few sites from speed dial without a positive result.
I installed SP1 and everything was just fine (for months). Then I used "Disk Cleanup" to remove the SP1 installation files and other temporary files. After a few restarts,I got some USB problems.Peripherals started to work at USB 1 speed. Here's how the USB section of the Device Manager looks:
I restored the system partition a few times and I can say pretty confidently that using Disk Cleanup is the cause. Although I'm not sure if the problem is caused by removing SP1 files or some other temporary files.Motherboard is an Asrock ALiveNF6G-VSTA. I'm also using a USB hub, but the problem (slower speed) happens on _all_ USB ports, both on the hub and directly on the motheboard.Windows 7 64 bit, everything updated.
I have a sata HD which is fairly old (circa 2 years) and I was wondering is it normal that copying speed from one to another partition is 22 MB/s? How can I test it?
