However, I am unable to understand exactly what to do. I had to install Windows 7 Professional from the Home Edition and after the final reboot no internet connection was available. I am pretty inexperienced in computers and am unable to following the instructions posted prior.
View 14 RepliesAs I wanted to enable the ICS on my machine it tells me that I can't and that the service that is being enabled does not exist as an installed service and that is ICS.I did a lot of digging on the net about it and it's weird, but I can't find anything concrete about this particular problem.The PC I'm talking about is a work PC with Windows 7 Professional 64-bit.I don't think that someone at my work removed this service (I'm not even sure if you can remove a service) but it is missing from the list and it can't be enabled.Is there any way of manually installing it on my windows 7x64?

I already warrentied my motherboard; no difference. Then I went and bought new RAM; also no difference. How do I get passed this stupid "bootmgr is missing" message. I have no existing OS on the drive.
View 7 Replies View RelatedSo I attempted to install win 8 on a 4gb RAM laptop, setup wouldn't go through, it kept freezing on me. I decided to go back and stay on win 7. So windows is loading the files and TWICE, and it automatically reboots and goes over it again and command prompt comes and says BOOTMGR is missingPress Ctrl+Alt+Del to restart and the whole process goes all over again. I took out the harddrive and put it in my pc to see if I can get somewhere with it well, setup comes up properly I format the partition and I get a 0x80070570. From what I found, that's a virus I believe. The setup won't go through and BOOTMGR is missing again.

I had to download a iso file from [URL] as he wasn't give a installation disc. The install went fine except when it was finished there was no internet connection available. I tried to troubleshoot but couldn't find any network drivers.

After doing a clean install but saving files in 'Windows.old' Wingdings 2 & Wingdings 3 fonts have disappeared. They aren't in the the fonts folder and I need them. PC started acting inappropriately during searches. Press Window Key, press W key to get Wordpad and it would show things like Calculator, VLC Player or Irfanview. Or press Window Key, press I for Internet Explorer and it shows Notepad, Paint or Word.
My internet speed has really decreased since I installed windows 7 I have realised that my internet is so much more slow than usual. I'm prepared to upload screen shots of anything required I have tried doing a search for an update for my ATHEROS PCI-E ethernet device and it came back as sayin it was up to date.

Is there a fix (not a workaround) for this problem? There have been a lot of postings for this issue over time throughout the Internet, but I cannot find a real fix (like a patch from Microsoft) for this problem. When I install Windows 7 with a newer release of Windows 7, the start menu is populated as expected, so I can only infer that Microsoft knew about and fixed the problem in later releases, but did not post a fix. Unfortunately, I have a couple of systems that have recently been built with an earlier release of Windows 7, and subsequently, have the problem.

I thought I may have had a virus so I went ahead and reformatted my hard drive completely and purchased the win 7 upgrade cd and license in order to do a clean install.When I try to boot from the cd, I get an error right when it's done loading that says that the kernel is missing or corrupt.I am not a computer expert, but I'm thinking I may have some sort of motherboard problem at this point...

I did a windows 7 clean install on my HP Mini 210 4051 nr as part of creating a dual boot with Ubuntu. In Linux the internet works fine, but in Windows 7 it does not. In the device manager I see yellow flags over the ethernet and network controllers. Code 28 (My model does have an ethernet port).
Because the machine cannot connect, I downloaded all the related drivers (everything from the network tab) from the HP website for my model with another computer and then put them all in a folder on the Mini's desktop via USB. When I try to install the drivers through the device manager, and direct it to that folder, it says it finds nothing usable.

I've been having really annoying issues with my internet connection since i moved from vista to windows 7. I looked the forum several times to find an answer to the problem but i can't find anything close. I used to have this driver: 802.11n Wireless PCI Express Card LAN Adapter version 3.0.0.1 , my internet speed was running at the usual 10mb but i there was a lot to freezing and buzzing while the driver was installed making the usage of the computer impossible, so i updated to the same driver but version 3.2.1.0 which came out in april this year.Now mi internet connection can't even get to 1mb ( the house connection is 10mb) i checked the other computers to see if it was an overall problem but it looks like my computer is the only one affected.the others computers in the house run with windows vista and don't show any signs of troubles with the network.i have no clue what to do , but I've read that is actually the windows 7 that is presenting problems with network driver , is that true ?

View 1 Replies View RelatedI just got an Acer Predator. I transferred settings from XP using Windows Easy Transfer. The Internet connection was working perfectly. I installed Comodo Firewall, Avira AntiVir and ThreatFire. Then it could not connect. I plug the Ethernet cable into the XP computer and it connects no problem.I tried a system restore and it didn't fix it. I am running a thorough AviraAntiVir scan now on the Windows 7 system. I don't want to assume it is a virus, but the system was unprotected until I got the three security applications installed. I did also see some Comodo warnings and I approved going ahead because the security apps were installing at the time.

I had XP on the install partition. During setup of Windows 7 I chose to format that partition in order to do a clean install (and no dual boot). Installation finishes perfectly. Reboot. But no luck. Something goes wrong, and my computer is just telling me "BOOTMGR IS MISSING" leaving me with no options. Didn't have that problem when I tested Windows 7 beta back in January (also formatting the XP partition during installation).
Have tried to make BIOS adjustments such as changing the AHCI/SATA settings. Have also tried repair from the Windows 7 DVD.
Hardware: AMD 790 chipset, Nvidia 9500GT graphics, AMD 4850e processor, 2 GB RAM.

View 5 Replies View RelatedI am using a nokia E66 to connect to the internet at home. My pc at home is running windows 7 home premium 64 bit. I am currently using nokia pc suite 7.1.40.1. All the software installed without any problems. The problem that I am having is that after I connect to the internet, I can only roughly download / upload about 5MB of data and the connection will time out. I do not get any error messages that is did timeout. The only way I know this is that I stop seeing data being transferred in Network properties.
I then open my e-mail client to see If I can connect with a POP account and then I get an error saying it could not connect to the e-mail account. I then have to disconnect and reconnect and try again. This does not seem to affect web browsing though, only when I am downloading files. Like Steam will start update and stop, windows updates will start download and stop and so on.
I initially thought it was a problem with the network operator, but when I boot back in xp (my pc is set up to dual boot between xp and 7) every thing works fine. No download time outs. Is it the nokia software that is not supporting 7 100% yet or am I missing something else?

I noticed when I was installing Windows 7, I never had a screen pop up (step 17) asking about my network location type. After Windows was installed, my laptop couldn't find any networks regardless if I tried plugging an ethernet cord from my modem into my laptop. When I click troubleshoot it says, "Install a driver for your network adapter". I click next it says, "Windows could not find a driver for your network adapter". I look in my Device Manager, I see under Other Devices it lists: Ethernet Controller, Network Controller, PCI Device, SM Bus Controller, Universal Serial Bus (USB) Controller, Universal Serial Bus (USB) Controller, Unknown Device, and Unknown Device all with yellow exclamation marks next to them.
My Googlefu skills told me that when clean installing windows it only installs generic drivers, and I need to install the drivers on my motherboard disk. The problem is my laptop didn't come with any such disk. I tried going on HP's website on another computer, and burning all the network drivers onto a blank DVD ( can't use a USB since those drivers are not working). When I installed them nothing really happened.

View 3 Replies View RelatedI'm working on a re-install of all components following a complete corruption of the boot sector on my drive which could not be fixed with repairs. The last time I installed everything fresh, I had no issues. Between then and now, there have been no hardware changes on my system, but now I am having issues installing the IDT Codecs. I keep getting an error along the following lines: Quote: ExitError: Error=Device Object not present, restart the system and run setup again. Running under compatibility mode, and running drivers from both the motherboard CD and the manufacturer website both have the same effect. The CD, when booted, says "This OS not support!" and only contains 32-bit vista codecs. ECS' website download indicates the IDT drivers as being compatible with Windows 7. Both do not work. It is almost as if the hardware "disappeared," despite the fact that I was using the drivers quite successfully till just 2 days ago, when the boot sector went kaput.
Windows has installed its own default set, which do nothing to power the 8mm jacks which I use with my speakers, but instead put sound through the HDMI, which is useless because I use a dedicated graphics card. I have tried uninstalling this codec and re-installing IDT, to no effect. Windows replaces with its own default codec.I have referenced this thread here, but offered solutions do not seem to work for me: Intel IDT Audio Driver will not install

When i tried to connect to the internet with my broadband ADSL 2 (using netgear router / modem) it was seamless on the Mac OS but windows running on the mac will not recognize a connection. If I connect my ASUS to the ethernet cord, internet works just fine (running same software as the windows OS on my mac).
