Losing Bandwith And Slow Internet Speed?

May 31, 2011

speed and I was spending my Int. traffic (which is limited) very fast (after that you get dial up-like speed).Yesterday, finally, I've installed bandwidth monitor and was stupefied.Even though I have these low speeds (spent traffic since 25.05.) I manage somehow to spend 2gb for three hours browsing and downloading a 240mb file via torrent.B. Monitor says that my average download speed is 545 kbps and upload 400 kbps and my payed speed should be 10 mbps with 765 kbps (!).Kaspersky reports no viruses or ather pest what so ever and iI keep myself to familiar download sites which are supposedly safe.Today I did command prompt and got this result of which I did PrtSc but I will not post it since I know its not safe. What to do with it

Very Slow Internet Speed In Windows 7

Feb 5, 2011

2 Days ago I upgraded my PC and moved from XP to Windows 7 Enterprise x64. Everything was going smooth as butter, untill it was moment to use my internet. When I try to download something I get 50-60kb/s dl speed, 100 at max, while in XP my normal dl speed was around 5mb/s. I've installed all the newest drivers for absolutely everything, changed 3 lan cards, including the integrated on my motherboard, and all do the same stuff. My internet is super slow and I get disconnected every 5 or so minutes. I'm with a broadband (PPPoE) connection. I've heard there is a possibility my motherboard is faulty, because they were some mobos wich have problems with Windows 7. My setup is this:

Asus M4N68T AM3 Motherboard wich on the box claims its "Windows 7 Ready" AMD Athlon II X2 255 3.1GHz AM3 Dual Core Processor 2x2GB A-Data DDR3 1600G Memory Kit 500GB Hitachi 7K1000.C SATA II HDD Sapphire HD 5670 512MB GDDR5 Video card The lan card that I'm using in the moment is TP Link TF-3239DL

Internet Download Speed Slow On Computer?

Sep 5, 2012

This is my first post/thread on TH.Anyways, I Just recently bought a laptop for HS, about half a month old. Everything Ran fine , Until My computer decided to not work anymore.

I did a system restore from a repair disk and fixed, the only catch, norton reinstalled. I had uninstalled norton and when I did a system restore, the program probably sent it's server a "scam" alert as the program didn't respond after, So I had to uninstall it manually, removing the files and all the registry entres. Now, week later, I notice that my computer is downloading EPICALLY slow. My speed is 11mbs, on my alternate computer, it will download a 11 mb file in less then a second, but on the laptop, 25 minutes? No way is that possible.

I did some registry scans, with wisecare 365, fixed the registry and download time has come down to 13 seconds, which is still crazy long,

Slow Surfing With High Speed Cable Internet?

Jun 3, 2011

im running windows 7 home premium, with 2gb of ram,2.2ghz,on a presario CQ62 notebook. i have high speed cable internet through roadrunner.i have no viruses, nothing at all running accept for the services that normallly run on this computer.cpu usage is at zero, and everything runs fine, that is untill i start surfing the internet. im only getting 6mbps or even lower at times, when i should be getting 10mbps or more.i have run multiple different speed tests through road runner, and they basically all conclude that my download speed is 6mbps or lower, sometimes reaching as low as 3mbps.alot of times it will start out at 20mbps and then dramatically drop to almost nill.my upload however seems normal and never changes at 49.i have another computer thats a dell with 4gbs of ram and a faster processor and im getting 20mbps+++ fast! does having a faster processesor and more ram make a difference while surfing the net? i have an emachine with only 1gb of ram and windows xp,and its faster then this new presario at surfing the net using this same line.its really noticeable just flippin through pages or doing searches

Keep Losing Wireless Internet Access

Feb 11, 2012

I have an ADSL modem connected to a Cisco E-1000 wifi router. I have two laptops (Windows Vista and 7), an iPad and two smart phones. The iPad and the phones connect without any problems at all and stay connected without interuption. But the two laptops keep losing internet access! They stay connected 10-15 minutes, then invariably lose internet access. I have to manually disconnect and reconnect again to get back on the net - but again, only for 10-15 minutes.I've tried many things - changing the channel, playing with all sorts of parameters (as suggested by the online chat guy) - but to no avail.

Wireless Keeps Losing Access To The Internet?

Oct 3, 2010

I'm using an ASUS Pro31F laptop with Windows 7 Professional 32it.We recently moved house and got the internet set up. For everyone else in the house the wireless works fine. However for me and my laptop, it is constantly disconnecting and will say "limited access" with a yellow exclamation point over the wireless icon in the system tray. So in other words, it appears as if it has a connection, yet my internet will stop working. I have to disconnect from that same icon and reconnect which usually fixes the problem. But it's so annoying I'm finding myself often having to do it at least every 5 minutes while I'm surfing the net.

Now other members of my family with laptops have mentioned to me occassionally it will disconnect for them, yet rarely - more so nowhere near as much as me. The main difference between my computer and everyone else's is that I'm the only one using Windows 7 while the rest of them all have XP. I've even tried going to other ends of the house where they use it but have the same problem, leading me to believe it is a problem with my computer and not the wireless or router itself. I'm also thinking it is most likely an issue to do with windows 7 as I searched the net and found many people with similar issues. I never had a problem with the wireless on the same laptop at my old house however.

It appears to happen intermittently, however one thing I have noticed that it will usually increase the chance of happening if I am performing a lot of activity on the net. For e.g. if I am looking at wikipedia and open several tabs from links within that page in a short period of time, it will usually not like that, and disconnect again. Same as if I am multi-tasking switching between a few tabs and loading a few pages at once.

Randomly Losing Internet Connection

Oct 19, 2011

I have a problem that has been puzzling and annoying me very much for the past week or so. I have no problem connecting to the network but at random times I lose connection to the internet for a few seconds or a few minuites. I never lose connection to the network though. My playstation 3 has a wired connection directly to the modem as does the computer in the living room, and those units never lose connection. How ever my computer in my room along with my xbox 360, which is also in my room, loses connection wirelessly. My xbox and this computer DO NOT have this problem at other people houses so I'm thinking it must be my router (Linksys E1000). The wireless adapter I have on my computer is a Linksys WMP600N Dual Band. Both the router and my wireless card have the lastest firmware and I have also tried giving my computer a static IP along with the Xbox and forwarding the ports for it. Still does not work for me. I am able to connect to my neighbors internet which has no problems with connection other than the fact that its laggy since i am far from their router. I really dont want to go out and buy a new router so any help anyone could give me would be awesome!

Wireless Keep Losing Access To Internet

Jan 3, 2013

so recently these few days i've been having some problems with wireless connection in my laptop. whenever i'm browsing the internet or using Internet etc., i'll suddenly lose access to internet even though i'll have full bar connection.

i'm using a hp g62-358 with windows 7 home premium 64-bit.

i've been using it since 2010 until now and this problem only just came up recently. there are 5 laptops including mine that are in the house using the same wireless network. however, only my laptop has this issue.

this problem only happens when i'm on the net. when this happens, i had to either disconnect from the network or turn off the wireless lan adapter and wait for a few minutes. when i reconnect or turn on lan, i'll have access to internet again, however not for long.

Huge Bandwith Usage From Windows 7 64 Bit

Apr 1, 2012

Just got a new computer, ZT Systems 3.4 i7-2600, 16 GB RAM, running Windows 7 64 bit. I love the computer, I love working on the OS. I do not love the massive amounts of bandwidth I'm using apparently from doing nothing. In 24 hours, we used 4.5 gigs of Internet bandwidth on this thing. Running Windows XP on our earlier computer ... yes, we were badly out of date ... we averaged about 25 gigs of bandwidth a MONTH.This is a concern because we have Comcast as our ISP, and they have a cap of 250 GB a month before they will turn you off.And yes, I can do the math, we could still do 10 times our previous usage before hitting the cap, but there's also the thing that I like to be in complete and total control of my system and have it behave the way I want it to, and I'm not liking this OS eating bandwidth like this.We did have some update downloads, but they were nowhere near a gig, let alone 4.5.Most of the usage over the 24-hour period was, basically, surfing the Internet.Like this morning, I logged onto the computer and was sending email from web browser (don't have address book moved over yet). I was watching usage just as an experiment. It was negligible, then bam, 182 MB. When I detected this problem, I downloaded Net Balancer to check on things, and it showed that huge spike was from svchost.exe. I'm also getting huge spikes from Service Traffic.

We do not have a virus or malware, have run scans. We do have a network set up, but our router is secure and we've seen no suspicious usage. No one is leeching off the system. In fact, most of the first 24 hours was spent without a router even hooked up and broadcasting, I had to replace the one we had because it wasn't Windows 7 compliant.I have very few startup programs running, only the necessary ones, have checked that.I'm getting a bit of extra bandwidth usage as per Net Balancer from Norton's stuff which came bundled with the computer, which I hate and am going to get rid of as soon as it's time to renew our licenses with ESET which we've used for years and uses microscopic bandwidth and CPU.If I need to provide any other info, I can, although I'm not great at screen shots.is this just a quirk of Windows 7 64 bit that we're going to have to live with and adjust to, or can it be made to stop? I've been scouring the Internet the last day, including this forum and have seen that this has been an issue for other folks. I've seen folks advised to check for viruses, check the processes running, etc., and then when everything checks out, it's like "OK."Well, this isn't OK as far as I'm concerned, I want to make it stop if I can. I've got too much into the computer to want to take it back and go two systems backward to XP, but I'm really not loving this. I want to make it stop.

Router Keeps Losing Internet Connection And Needs Resetting?

May 12, 2012

For the last few days of an evening after downloading large amounts of data using Bit-torrent i.e. 70GB, I keep losing my internet connection. I need to turn my super-hub on and off again, but it will keep losing the connection. I have noticed that if I exit Bit-torrent then I don't lose my connection, but I am not sure whether this is just a coincidence. Is this because of the amount of data I am downloading using Bit-torrent and my super-hub is turning off the connection on purpose or is this something else?

New Computer, VERY Slow Downloading Speed?

Mar 29, 2011

I bought a new computer last week, and i am connecting wirelessly to my router for internet, just like my other 3 roommates. My download speeds are in the 11-20 KB/S range while theres are in the 400-500 range! even my old low RAM computer is getting dl speeds in that range. I don't know why it is doing this, one of my roommates said he still downloads stuff on his win XP computer bc his new Win 7 comp is just as slow as mine! Is this a common problem with new computers in general? Is there an easy way to fix it, such as utilizing more priority to download speeds?

Virtual PC - Slow Processor Speed

I recently installed the newest edition of VirtualPC on my Win7 ultimate machine. Having used VPC 2007 in the past, I was expecting a similar experience. Only to be disappointed when I installed a VM of Win7 Pro, and it was extremely slow. The processor speed reported was 5 Mhz. I find this unusual given my host machine's specs. I assured that Virtualization was enabled in the bios, and the integration tools were installed. In the past i have run XP and Win7 in VMs with great success on far less superior machines.

Opera 11.62 + Slow Speed Dial?

May 4, 2012

I have speed dial set as my start page. I've got 9 sites on Speed Dial. I don't use custom pics, although I do use a custom skin.Every now and then when opening Opera, it 'freezes' at the Speed Dial tab for 3-7 secs before displaying all tabs/windows. When it 'freezes', all tiles are the + symbol and are blank.Once it 'unfreezes', all is normal. It seems to happen sporadically upon a new start. Once the browser is open, the issue does not reoccur. It's been going on for the last 3 weeks to a month - same version, same skin.Basically, one day it just started happening without any changes to the browser. Prior to this, it loaded instantly 100% of the time.I've cleared cookies/cache the normal way and it's still happening. I've culled a few sites from speed dial without a positive result.

Slow Speed Of USB After Using Disc Cleanup?

May 6, 2011

I installed SP1 and everything was just fine (for months). Then I used "Disk Cleanup" to remove the SP1 installation files and other temporary files. After a few restarts,I got some USB problems.Peripherals started to work at USB 1 speed. Here's how the USB section of the Device Manager looks:

I restored the system partition a few times and I can say pretty confidently that using Disk Cleanup is the cause. Although I'm not sure if the problem is caused by removing SP1 files or some other temporary files.Motherboard is an Asrock ALiveNF6G-VSTA. I'm also using a USB hub, but the problem (slower speed) happens on _all_ USB ports, both on the hub and directly on the motheboard.Windows 7 64 bit, everything updated.
