1st: Minecraft just stops and i have to open task manager to close it.
2nd: Minecraft freezes and then i get a black screen. Then it goes back to the main screen, minecraft closes, and then in the bottom right a message pops up saying. "AMD video has stopped responding and has recovered successfully. I tried finding drivers but couldent in the end what now!
windows 7 x64 on my laptop (intel core i5 @ 2.50ghz, 4 gb ram) has recently started freezing for a few seconds every few seconds, when i'm doing just about anything: browsing the web, copying files, using text redactor, etc. only the mouse cursor responds, control is back after a couple of seconds.
* the behaviour remains the same when booting in the safe mode
* there are no cpu or memory usage peaks in process explorer
* there are no hardware conflicts in device manager
* there are no critical errors in system log
* there is no antivirus active
* hardware tests (memory, etc.) do not report any errors
i suspect this has started after i've updated all the drivers from manufacturer's site, but i am not 100% sure. anyway, i do not know which driver has caused this and i cannot easily restore to the previous state.
I know basically how to create custom folder icons by going to a folder to "properties" and "customize" "change icon" by using ico formatted icons in Windows 7 64bit; but how do you keep the custom icons from disappearing when you move them to another computer? I did find a set of already made icons and they don't disappear when you move them to another computer, so there must be a trick to it.

I checked the temps of my cpu to see if it was overheating for some reason but it was running at 23 Celsius, so I have reason to believe it could be heating problems with the gpu. But I don't fully believe that is the case either.

I just started having this problem in the past week. It never happened before, and I haven't installed anything new or changed anything that I can think of.On occasion, I will be doing various tasks, and all of the sudden the screen will freeze. Everything is still shown, it doesn't go black, it's just frozen. It will continue doing this until I either restart or simply log off. The fact that I can log off and it fixes it leads me to believe it is not a hardware issue. I've had enough of those so I hope it's not. After it comes back, the cursor doesn't change icons based on what I'm hovering over, such as a link showing a hand instead of just the default. Whatever icon is currently stuck on the pointer will then turn into some multicolored glitchy version of itself.
If anyone has any clue as to what may be causing this, please share. I will give any additional information as requested. have Windows 7 64-bit working properly, and make me feel a bit better about buying it? At the moment it looks like I'm stuck with a bunk OS and am out $200. I'm not happy at all...Here's a summary of the main problems I'm having:System restore doesn't work - I make a save point, but it doesn't see it when I try to restore. I had XP Pro before 7, and the restore function didn't work on that OS eitherIE 8 32-bit doesn't work, it freezes after viewing a page for about 20 seconds. The 64-bit works fine, but I want to use the 32 bit if I can, mainly because I use roboform and that doesn't work on the 64 bit browser. My surround sound only works if set up as a 2 speaker system. No video files will play at allRegardless of the type of video, they give the same error "server execution failed"I use Impulse, from Stardock, which is basically a service like Steam.Impulse runs, but only minimized, it won't come up to the desktop. I had the 32-bit version of 7 installed, and it worked fine there.
There's more, but this is all I can think of atm.I've been working on this sh*t since last Saturday, and am starting to burn out. I need to make a list of the problems so I don't forget what they all are. So far I've installed Windows 4 times; apparently there's a lot of software it just doesn't like (like office 2000 & the zonealarm I have), where loading just frags the whole
Mouse Freezes for 1-2 seconds then resumes?
View 4 Replies View RelatedI got a BSOD yesterday which was most likely from overheating and now 30-60 seconds after I boot it normally, it freezes yet my mouse still moves. Ten second later, all the screen shows is my background. I've tried system restore, then I went it BIOS and ran a test on the system memory which passed, scanned for malware and spyware, used both CCleaner and IObit Advance SystemCare to clean up registry and junk files, and then defragmented the hard drive expecting that might do something and it still freezes.Edit: I've been looking at the start ups and don't see anything that suspicious.[CODE]

View 1 Replies View RelatedI recently built a new gaming computer. It runs everything smoothly, but there is one glaring problem that I cannot seem to shake. My computer will at unpredictable times halt everything (freeze) for 1-3 seconds and then resume. During this time, all sound seems to be directed to a different audio port. It seemed to start with my audio. I would plug in speakers, and then I would plug in a 3.5mm headset and it would intermittently (and rapidly) detect the headset. Looking at my realtek audio software, the input that the headset was plugged into would rapidly turn on and off. Plugged speakers into that port and it worked with no problems. The headset is not to blame because I used it with no problem on my laptop. I then suspected it was a problem since I was doing dual audio output. I downloaded the newest drivers from the ASUS site for the realtek audio manager. My computer would still do the intermittent freezing. I have read some suggestions that it may be my memory configuration. I am a programmer and not a hardware specialist, so I am unfamiliar with how a memory configuration works and how to correct this problem. I downloaded a memory qvl update from the ASUS site, and it only seemed to bring up a console window for a split second before fading out.

I played the game for 100 + hours without problem, then this problem appears. Skyrim freezes then resumes then freezes every 5 seconds after playing for a few minutes. I tried re-installing the game, lowering the graphics to low, removing all mods. This is also not a savegame issue, it happens even in a new game. Also tried running in windowed mode, did not fix the issue. I also tried using game booster(to see if a background is causing this). I also tried running the game in my Windows XP partition, got the same problem. I do have the latest drivers and patch. One thing I have noticed is my CPU load goes from around 90% to 30% during the freezing.
View 9 Replies View RelatedIn the last few days my Toshiba Satellite L745-S43210 hasn't been working right. Recently it won't boot up properly. It started to boot up and then it would freeze up seconds after showing my desktop. I managed to go into safe mode and use msconfig to change start up programs and turn it to only the essential items. After that it worked and I tried turning everything back on and it worked fine last night. I assumed it was just overheating from being used so much in the last few days. Now today when I tried starting it up I was able to enter my password but the screen went black with my mouse pointer working. I turned it off and tried again a few times before going into safe mode.
I went back into msconfig again and turned it back to only essential programs and I performed a virus scan with Super Anti-Spyware and Malware Bytes and the only thing that they found were cookies. I cleared them out and booted up windows again and it worked fine. Now I am trying to select only certain programs and choose only the Microsoft, Intel and Toshiba programs/services and now when I boot it up I don't even get the the text box to enter my password, it just shows the blue windows start up screen. Right now I am using Safe Mode With Networking to type this and try messing with start up programs again.

I am running Windows 7 and frequently get a screen freeze while playing Battlefield Vietnam II or Battlefield II only. This happens quite often and I see no patterns except for these 2 games. I have updated my video drivers. I have an NVIDIA GeForce GTS 250 (Prerelease - WDDM 1.1)
It started yesterday: in an online game, after a couple of games I suddenly got some short freezes (half a sec, never longer) in which the sound goes like a machine gun, if you understand me. This was the first instance and since then it occasionally happens in that game. Nothing weird with that, just lag. That's what I thought. But today I started an offline-only game that has always worked perfectly (in fact, it's an old game, so very low system specs), and I got the same issue!
So, it seems I have a freeze issue suddenly, only appearing in games (haven't experienced freezes anywhere else). Note that it isn't exactly a freeze. Say I move my mouse and the freeze issue happens (still moving my mouse, but the arrow doesn't move), after the freeze my mouse arrow teleports to the spot it would've been in if the game hadn't frozen for that instant. In an actual freeze it wouldn't record where I'd move my mouse, would it?

While I was writing this, I noticed the PC showed a problem. I let it do its thing, and it reports a video hardware error. I DO NOT know if this is related to the problem, but regardless, I've attached the 3 files (in a zip) Windows showed me, in case it's relevant.
