GFWL was working fine until yesterday. I went to start Batman: Arkham City and it crashed after the splash screen. I noticed that GFWL and the marketplace also would not start (splash screen, then nothing).
I tried uninstalling and reinstalling GFWL and the Marketplace, as well as the .Net framework (multiple times). I can NOT get these to work! And I have no idea what could possibly have caused this, since I didn't update any software between the time I played the game last and yesterday morning (maybe a 24 hour span).
Are there any other common fixes? These literally leave no errors and just close when trying to start, making the games that use GFWL crash on start up (just get the generic "blah has stopped working" error).
I've tried the steam user forums, XBOX forums (under the PC sections) and e-mailing microsoft, but no answers yet.
My last resort would be to find a custom installer for the game with a crack so I could possibly completely bypass GFWL.
The autostart function is not working properly. When introduced a CD Rom into the drive, it has all the autostart functions for movies, pics, documents, but instead of starting the games directly, It allways ask me to open the file, movies or pics, but the game never starts automatically as It used to do in the past Windows versions, and in Windows 7 BEFORE SP1. It's imposible to play games that require the insertion of the disc into the CD Rom Drive, for the same reason.Im running Windows 7 Ultimate x64 and have a LG Super Multi RwDVD +R DL Light scribe multirecorder.
my laptop always crashes when i play any game. my processor is core 2 duo, operating system is windows 7 ultimate , clock speed is 2.6ghz, nvidia geforce 105m version : 301.42 . its packard bell easynote NJ65, Ram : 4gb, 2 gb graphic card.
It can be any game from something like Minecraft to Battlefield 3 which causes problems for me. The first conclusion I could make was that there may be a problem with my Video card as playing high end games like BF3 can be very demanding on the average computer. I have updated drivers and tried to fix it to no end. These BSODs seem to happen at least 1-3 times a day. The crash dumps can happen both when starting up the game or while I am playing it. I don't know whether any of this information is useful or whether it is even related to what can be seen by analysing the files from sf-diagnostic. All the files needed should be attached.
I bought GTA complete pack from steam from steam the other day and patiently waited for the 40gb of files to download and they all ran fine but when I play GTA IV it runs fine until I shoot someone or crash in a car. When I shoot or crash then the screen goes black, the sound loops and the only way I can do anything is if I use task manager to shut down my pc (and even then it gets to "shutting down ..." and stays there until I hold down the power button). When I turn it back on everything is fine but I don't know why it's doing it.
I've been having issues with two of my games, Hearts of Iron II and Civilization V.earts of Iron will play for a couple 'days' or a couple months before crashing. While Civ V could play for a while or crash instantly depending on what I select. I checked the Event logs for these crashes to get these[CODE]Now I've run some tests on my memory and it seems everything is physically.I ran some registry fixes that claimed to fix things, but didn't resolve anything. I uninstalled and re-installed the video driver.I've tried uninstalling and then re installing the games themselves. It should probably be noted I just recently installed a harddrive and this problem has only been since then. My current suspicion is that something is messing with my CPU usage and these two strategy games are burning through the memory for some reason
All my old games used to run correctly(Hitman 2&3, Max Payne, Quake 2 etc). I installed AOE 3 but had to uninstall because my display is not supported. Now all my games that used to work don't run but make my system lag really bad! in the task manager the game runs as a process with a "rundll.exe" that uses 100% CPU until I close the process tree
i keep getting BSODS,Freeze,Crash when playing games, watching some videos......it happened after someone tried to install a game after he played it for some few mins it started to crash, freeze and bsod. Unfortunately even after we formatted our laptop it still crashes whenever playing games or videos but it rarely happens when watching videos but the real concern is that it crashes sometimes now and then randomly when using a lot of memory or not...
i was playing dark orbit , it's a spaceshooting game (mmo)it requires flash player, every time i play the game the flash player crashes. i even re-installed the flash player. even disabled the hardware acceleration in the flash player settings.> flash player also crashes while watching videos on Internet, playing facebook games like farmville, cityville etc.
HoN or Steam games like mass effect, dead space etc will crash. Everything was working fine until I tried to upgrade my nvidia drivers to play BF3 and since then I can't figure out why it won't work. I can do everything else on my computer fine.Nothing else causes it to crash but playing games. I have ddr2 pc2-6400 patriot 4gb of ram, amd athlon 64 x2 6000+ socket am 2, nvidia geforce gtx 280
I've been working for the past week to try and figure this out :*( please help me out, don't ask about the name, couldn't get it to take any normal names at the time.
I don't know exactly what is happening with my computer but since the guild wars 2 beta weekend my computer would freeze make a very loud scratching sort of sound than the client would crash. At first I figured ok its just beta something isn't happy with my system, I figured it was just that cross fire wasn't optimized for the beta and that my 5970 had some cross fire structure to it with the dual gpu. Than while playing Sniper Elite v2 it happened again, not to the full extent of the loud noise but still there was scratching. After each time the games would crash all my other programs would crash as well, and when they did work they would be screwed up. I would try playing music and it would sort of work than have the static or scratching sound again, occasionally a beeping sound.
I have my audio drivers up to date and I have tested it out threw my screen speakers and my razer megalodon usb head phones. I have checked for a new mobo bios and haven't found anything new for it, I than checked to update my graphic drivers and brought them up to 12.4. I don't run anything but the drivers due to it making my system very unstable. I than did a complete wipe, did 8 passes over both my base hard drive and my 1 tb hard drive. Fully updated windows and my drivers again and I am still experiencing the same problems. I have my video card over clocked to 900 core clock and 1200 memory at 1.137 volts, its stable as can be. I also have my cpu over clocked to 3.7 ghz but I have never had a issue with it either, they both have been at these speeds for the past 2 years. The temps are all with in more than safe temps and I have just recently cleaned the entire computer.
Just finished doing memtext86+ for 5 passes and came up with 0 errors, I have also checked inside my event viewer logs for any critical events and can't find any.My system specs according to speccy:
Operating System MS Windows 7 Ultimate 64-bit CPU AMD Phenom II X6 1090T Thuban 45nm Technology RAM
ever since upgrading my gpu from a hd4870 to an 6870 a year ago i've been plagued with problems of skype crashing my games and sometimes my entire pc. its gotten a bit better since i updated everything i possibly could but it's still a major annoyance that i can't seem to fix no matter how much i try to troubleshoot it on my own.skype runs fine all by itself, zero problems there. however, when you start up a game (any game, its has no prejudices towards any particular one) it will eventually crash, causing the game to crash along with it and force a reboot since the entire desktop will be bugged out with graphic glitches. anything open during the crash will also crash and burn, like web browsers, and they can't be opened again until the pc is rebooted.
so far i've had crashes on diablo iii, minecraft (bsod that actually ruined a world since i was running a hamachi server), left4dead 1 and 2, and most recently borderlands.i also used to get hard freezes when watching Internet videos, but that stopped occurring once i disabled all hardware acceleration in adobe flash. i've looked into the event log and saw a bunch of errors but its all along the line of "skype stopped working" and doesn't seem to really give any pertinent info as to why it crashed my system.also, this never happened with my older gpu but i'm reluctant to put it back in due to how much faster the 6870 is. i've gotten to the point where i'm tempted to buy a 7000 series card but am afraid it won't actually fix the problem.
I have been dealing with this problem for a long time but something gotta happen. The random restart happen well randomly during idle, game play, surfing the web or anything that has to do with the computer. One minute I'm enjoying myself and the next I see the Dell logo. No BSOD just loads back to desktop. I have searched the forums and have nothing out there that gives ME and idea of what's going on. I have formatted and reinstalled the OS and it still happens. It happened before and After I upgraded my PSU and Graphics card. It's happens multiple times a day. Now my second issue. I have I play AION and during game play I hear a LOAD crackle through my speakers and I'll hear it for a range of 2 sec to 10 sec and then the system restarts. No BSOD on report. This also happened before and after new PSU and graphics card and before and after format reinstall. I've updated my graphics card sound card, Bios, chipset, everything I can find a driver for I've installed it. I cant find any resolution. I doubt this forum will have an answer for this problem but while I'm listing my problems I'll add this one. During gameplay of AION I will get a message that AION game client OTCbuildclient32_wogg(30) has stopped working. I have also gotten a couple alerts from Norton that that same process is using a lot of memory.
Got a new home build Core I5 3rd gen at 4.4GB 8gb RAM, 120 SSD with the OS, 2GB HDD for anything else, ATI 7970. Win 7 home 64 bit. When I play games, I can play for a while, then I get Game name has stopped working, or a BSOD?
so this problem started a few days ago while i was watching a Internet video, for no apparent reason the video froze and the sound started lagging over a few seconds (audio slowed down), then my computer went completely unresponsive and the only way i could turn it off was by unplugging it. once i turned it back on i noticed the motherboard splash screen was a bit pixelated and distorted, and every time the computer goes to the win7 splash screen it loads the little windows icon animation but then when it begins to transition to the login screen, the screen remains black and hangs and never makes it to the login screen.i have a spartan brand laptop (a few years old) with a intel dual core cpu, phoenix technologes motheboard, running windows 7 professional and an nvidia gefore go 7600 video card.once this problem occured i tried numerous attempts to fix it.
1. i tried to run a system repair and the only error i got was something about a patch being the cause of the problem, i proceeded to delete windows patches through safe mode but this did not solve the problem.
2. i attempted numerous system restores to all the dates available to me via safe mode but win7 still does not strat up.
3. i used the repair tool to repair to the most recent point of good working configuration but this did not work either. i've also run a chkdisk or whatever it's called. it took a while so i left the room to do something else, when i returned i had assumed it finished and restareted my computer because my laptop was hanging on the black screen after the win7 splash screen as usual. the odd thing is, is that i can use safe mode as well as safe mode with networking (which i'm using as i type) and i've also reinstalled windows once while keeping my files and a second time as a completely clean installation. when i've reinstalled win7 both times it goes straight to the desktop after the installation and the computer works completely like normal. i can install things, use the internet, everything. the problem is that some of my drivers are not installed (like the video card) and when i install them i have to restart my computer, and when i restart the computer hangs like usual after the win7 splash screen and i'm back to square one.i don't unserstand why everything works normally but i just can't get past the splash screen. after my second installation of windows7 i ran the repair utility again and the only error i get is that there is an "unspecified error due to changes to the system configuration."
This problem started about a month ago with Windows Live Messenger. Since then i had no problems until last week when my game recording program WeGame began to crash when i start it up. Now today one of my favourite games Counter Strike : Source has started having the same problem. When starting Windows Live Messenger i am given the Windows Live Messenger has stopped working.. then it closes. When starting WeGame it usually crashes when i log in, with the same error. When i start Counter Strike : Source it says Hl2.exe has stopped working and needs to close.I have tried running as an administrator, in compatablility mode, restarting computer, reinstalling all 3 programs, using CCleaner and Windows Cleaner, closing other applications, disabling antivirus, scanning for viruses and many other things.
My computer will not do anything past turning on. It is frozen on the first screen it shows, which is the screen that gives you your computer info and tells you to press F1 to resume. It says S.M.A.R.T. Capable and Status BAD; AHCI Port0 Device Error. It obviously does nothing when I click F1, I have tried control alt delete and clicking the escape key. The only action I have is to turn it off!
Toshiba mini laptop NB255 with windows 7 crashes after each start up: after power on windows 7 is loaded (it takes for ever) but after few minutes laptop crashes and restarts.
When trying to open the Control Panel explorer.exe crashes. In every other situation explorer works normal. Its a dead end cause I cannot remove or add programs from the control panel.I have all latest Windows versions with Windows update and have added XP compatibility mode to Windows 7 (32 bit, pre-installed). SQL Server 2012 is installed including .Net framework - apart from that nothing special. [code]
I had to perform a force shut down today, upon restart win 7 attempted to load up but got stuck on start up page, again performed force shut down to see if it would load up but with no prevail. if left for 40 min or so it will finally get to login/password screen but after password input nothing happens.I have tried start up repair F8 but again after completion the screen freezes. also where there where more options such as safe mode these have know gone and i am only left with start windows normallyrepair modei did carry out a safe mode but it froze half way through and know that option has gone.i have no backup disk but i did backup win 7 to my external hard drive but am unsure wheter i can load from this.my lap top details are as follows.
In the past perhaps month or two, my computer has started crashing. It happens on start-up after the computer has been off for more than a few hours- about 3 minutes after launch, it freezes- screen first, and then the audio seems to continue briefly before going silent, or looping the last few seconds of sound. After a hard reset, I can start in normal mode and everything is fine- no more crashes, until the next time I shut down/start up (normally this is happening each morning after I have shut down the night before).I read through some info I was able to find on here and (techsupportforum)- I have checked the action center, and there is an entry for each hard reset, "Kernel-Power Event ID 41 Task Category (63)". I have read that this does not actually indicate anything but that I had to do a hard reset. The recurring issues/suggestions I have seen consist of 3 thoughts: 1. PSU is dying, 2. video card or processor are overheating, or 3. multiple audio drivers. I know my video card does run warm, but it isn't into critical temperatures (I have installed an application to monitor the temperature, which I will run from time to time- especially while running illustrator/photoshop/dreamweaver simultaneously, or while playing graphics-intense games [rift, e.g.]). The PSU could be it but I'd rather check on the audio driver situation first.
[CODE]When I go into Device Manager, there is an entry under "Sound, video and game controllers", called "High Definition Audio Device". Under "System Devices", there is an entry called "High Definition Audio Controller". Is this a conflict? Also, when I go to Volume Control Options from the task bar, "Sound devices" lists:Headphones, Speakers, and then two different entries for "Digital Audio (S/PDIF).I really have no idea what the issue is, but it is getting frustrating, and I feel like the audio scenario is the most likely.
example: Playing Diablo III while talking with friends on mumble. The game suddenly freezes and I wait to see if it shoud come back, and it never does.So I press Ctrl-Alt-Del to close the program, and the status says "Not responding" I close the program and wait like 5-10 sec until I can see it's closed in "task manager" and i try to start the program again. This happens, the cursor shows that it's "thinking" for like 2-3 sec, then nothing happens. Same problem occurs with Skype, these are the programs im 100% sure to crash everytime.I've tried to open them all as administrator.Tried compatible modessystem recoveryStart up Repair (windows 7 feature I believe)
my system crashed yesterday due to gpu overheating. now it boots till windows animated logo but at the point right when welcome screen usually comes there is nothing now but a moveable mouse cursor on a completelly black background.now i have following stuff to get back to normal: two very old restore points and a recently created macrium reflect system image but no repair disc. i will be very happy, if there is a way to use the image since i know that some of you prefer macrium reflect insted of microsofts system image solution. unfurtuntelly my restauration points are way to old (april 2011).
my Toshiba Satellite C655D wont reboot it gets to 95% and says error then a blue screen pops up and says it is crashing . Is there anything I can do to repair it . I dont have a repair disk.
im having this problem where some games i started appear at the Task Manager for around 10 seconds, and closes itself without any error message. The programs ran perfectly fine before on this PC. This is the error log for one of the program: [code]
I read through a few threads with similar topics but the issues were either not quite the same and/or resolved comparatively easily. I am trying to repair a 1.5 year-old HP Pavilion running Windows 7 Home Premium 64. This machine is used as the main office computer in a small doctor's office. In spite of my warnings, anti-virus software was not installed until it was too lateThere was a major issue about seven months ago that required another company to repairThe problem is explorer.exe will not run. Double-clicking a shortcut on the desktop, clicking the text name of a program from the Start menu, and even in the cmd results in the same response, a dialog box pops up stating windows explorer has stopped working.
windows is checking for a solution to the problem. followed by another box stating windows explorer is restarting. But the requested application never starts. I have run the Ultimate Boot CD 4 Win, replaced the hard drive and cloned all data, run numerous registry scans, malware scans and antivirus scans. Initially removing over 1500 virus/malware hits and over 1400 registry errors. But the main problem persists, explorer.exe won't open programs.
Looking to add a second "Games" folder to my Start Menu, not the user pinned list. Want to add a new Start Menu folder "Games(2)" to hold all of the games rarely accessed.I have been through the registry ...MicrosoftWindowsCurrentVersionExplorerAdvanced,and have been through the folder ...ProgramDataMicrosoftWindowsGameExplorer.I am attempting to create a new Registry DWORD Value for "...MicrosoftWindowsCurrentVersionExplorerAdvancedStart_ShowMyGames2" and then link this entry to a new folder.I have searched through Windows and online but not found anything offering how these Registry entries link to the actual folders.
ok so i have a problem thats been driving me insane. my toshiba F50 was working totally fine until suddenly during games my GPU started overheating quickly during games (Was not doing this before) i noticed that my fan didnt seem to be spinning as fast as before. i cleaned it still no avail, tried riva tuner and ntune and all of that jazz and all of them have the fan control options greyed out? (cannot use them)i noticed that when i start the laptop the POST test on the fans guns the fan to 100% speed so i know its capable of doing it. it seems like the fan doesnt know to speed up when it gets hot and it keeps shutting my system down and i reallllly dont feel like damaging my GPU. i tried rolling back my drivers and running the latest drivers.
When I click on games in my start menu only the games on my c drive show. I ran out of space on the c drive practically the day I bought it (SSD), so now I install games to my D drive. I tried dragging the .exe start file over to the games window and it did copy the icon over but I get a message that the game has stopped working when I click it, followed by automatic error reporting to Microsoft after.
