Problem description: While not occurring all of the time, it has become apparent that if my computer experiences a long period of activity, say if I am playing on it for a number of hours for example, the system will struggle to shut down. This means that once I click the button to shut down the system can sometimes take 5-10 minutes to finally shut down. At one instance the system hung up for so long that it caused a bluescreen of death, forcing me to just kill the power to the PC.Usually however the system shuts down in seconds like normal.Attempted fixes: What have you tried to do to resolve the problem?I examined the Event Viewer and learned that during each problem event where the computer would start to hang up, leading to the shut down problems, the program "Bonjour Services" is clearly defined in long strings of errors. Wanting to make sure that this program was responsible for the problem I waited for the issue to occur again and sure enough, each time the Bonjour Services was causing the issue.
know that this program comes with iTunes (which I use) but I simply uninstalled Bonjour since I don't use any of the specific functions it uses. Well it seems the problem has not simply been fixed by uninstalling Bonjour. I am still encountering the occasional stall upon shutdown, but this time the event viewer does not show any errors regarding it. I only uninstalled Bonjour through the Add/RemovePrograms in My Computer, is it possible that there are still parts of it screwing with my computer? It can't be a coincidence since Bonjour was clearly identified with each error in the event viewer for all of the previous shutdown issues
When gaming or even performing simple task, programs on my Windows 7 64-bit stop responding/freeze. Pressing CTRL+ALT+DELETE doesn't do anything and the system bogs down really slow, after which point the screen turns black with just the mouse cursor, and after a while this error message pops up: Failure to display security and shut down options. The logon process was unable to display security and logon options when CTRL+ALT+DELETE was pressed. If the operating system does not respond, press ESC or restart the computer by using the power switch.Oddly enough once I restart the issue is fine and can run smoothly for hours on end. Then out the blue it happens again... It's totally random.I just upgraded from XP Pro 64bit 3 days ago to Windows 7 64bit after my 5yr old HDD died and I replaced it with this.
My Alienware M17x suffers daily, random BSODs, I think most are Driver Power State Failures. These persist when I re-install my NVIDIA drivers (I even tried using Driver Fusion to get a clean install), but they do seem more frequent with the recent beta drivers. Maybe it's my Intel display drivers...? BSODs occur when starting programs, ending programs, in programs, and when I have everything closed. Random.I'm open to the idea that it could be physical damage (if that's possible). My laptop shipped with a busted DVD drive, so if that's a physical issue, there could be others.Changing my anti-virus from Avast to MSE was advised on another forum but made no difference.A possibly-completely-unrelated symptom: my laptop won't boot (freezes on splash screen) when I have a USB device plugged in (like my mouse). Changing my boot order doesn't seem to fix this.
So my laptop was working fine last night, woke up this morning and this issue appeared. I'm guessing it's a virus (stupidly, I haven't installed an AVP on this machine yet). Anyways, I can't open anything. Doesn't matter where I try to open the program or file from. The load icon appears but nothing happens. I also can't access the task manager or shut down/log off/etc. from the start menu, I get a "Failure to display security and shut down options" error msg. I'm in safe mode with networking right now, which is allowing me to open programs. I've already tried a system restore but it didn't solve the problem.
When performing more demanding tasks, which I try to avoid, programs on my Windows 7 32-bit stop responding/freeze, and pressing CTRL+SHIFT+ DELETE or CTRL+ALT+DELETE don't do anything until the system's had enough time to do whatever it's doing, after which point the screen turns black with just the mouse cursor, and, after a while, this error message pops up:Failure to display security and shut down options..The logon process was unable to display security and logon options when CTRL+ALT+DELETE was pressed. If the operating system does not respond, press ESC or restart the computer by using the power switch.[OK]I hit OK, and the system comes back, but it's clear it still has freezing/performance issues, because the whole thing soon repeats again. I've found that, to fix it, even restarting isn't satisfactory, because doing so won't help the computer "forget" that it was overworked, so, instead, I shut it down, for no less than 15 minutes, then start it up again, and it acts fresh again. Then I have to be careful not to overwork it again. But is there any way to help my Windows 7 take on those more straining processes? Googling "failure to display security and shut down options". i'm trying to install at bios and easy tune 6, but for some reason it comes up saying open driver failure, or open driver handle failure. what do i do?
"Open device failure/ open driver handle failure" message when installing gigabyte utilities. The install fails. Does anyone know what might be causing this message?
i've been having this problem for a while, and earlier it only came up when playing BF3, but now it occurs all the time, even when in desktop. I've been monitoring temperatures and usage on my components, which seemed like the logical error from the start. It's usually the 0x0000003B, but i've also had 0x0000001E. Minidump attached, but the latest ones are not saved, but i usually get 0x0000003B win32k.exe error.
Recently I've been noticing that my computer seems to have frequent short (maybe around half a second) freezes no matter what I'm doing. I notice it most when playing videogames, where the screen will freeze for a while before returning to normal. It's also noticeable when typing in some programs, where i will see nothing come out until a few seconds after I've typed it. When watching videos on the internet, the video will randomly freeze at a frame for a while (with audio still going) before skipping to synch up with the audio. If the videos are on my hard drive however, the problems are much more noticeable; Both audio and visuals stutter almost constantly. I first noticed this problem around a week ago when the sounds of a game i was playing (League of Legends) kept repeating for several seconds each time they played.
I have decided to upgrade to Win 7 due to frequent BSOD crashes on my old Vista 64. Unfortunately the upgrade did not help and im getting BSOD still pretty often.
I have been getting the BSOD or the screen freezes at every boot up of the computer. Haven't been doing much on my computer except gaming and work.Ran the memtest and it came out alright.
I have been getting a FREQUENT NOT RESPONDING ERROR resulting in a freeze which can last 30 seconds to a minute. It happens mostly in windows but also on the net occasionally. My net speed is slow , even though when I test it, it usually displays a speed of about 20 or more.MY cable speed that I pay for is 12 G.I am on Windows 7 and my comp is 6g memory with a HD of 750 g with 300g free space.I have done all the necessary to make sure that nothing starts that should not start up.
I just bought a nvidia geforce gt 630 2gb and installed it's program... It works fine with games BUT it sometimes takes a long time to start up ,Extreamly frequent freezes and then either resumes or blue screens even when just windows is open, when i run on safe mode the pc works fine steps that i have done :
i installed a new windows i cleaned the case with a vacume cleaner and a brush i upgraded the driver i made sure the pc isn't overheated i made sure the fans work all the time i made sure the psu is enough
notice: the pc has a higher percent of freezing while playing games
I just recently put my computer together, and it would randomly freezes. im not sure if it is hardware or window 7, but when it would freeze fairly frequent. at least everyday. i dont know if its overheating hardware or window 7 please help, or if the psu is not giving enough power.
I'm encountering BSOD's every 10 minutes or so from the past few days. I also have Windows XP which runs fine without BSODs. From BlueScreenViewer, I always get PAGE_FAULT_IN_NONPAGED_AREA, caused by some ntkernel and halmacpi.
I am getting BSOSs more frequently that is making my pc unusable. I have attached the latest .dmp created. What is causing the BSODs. I have uploaded .dmp file to google docs. [URL].
I own an Asus Laptop that runs on Windows 7 and I've been getting random BSOD for months (around 6) and they've become more frequent. I've downloaded Malwarebytes Anti-Malware scanned my computer and thought the problem was fixed but then it would come back. It's happened 11 times this month and 3 times today alone.I really don't know what to do anymore. I've considered reinstalling windows but I don't have the disc.
I have been getting BSODs on occasion. When recently playing a beta of a MMORPG I recieved three within 20 minutes of playing the game. They are I believe, bad pool header errors.I am running a custom built older PC with Windows 7 Pro-64bitAMD Athlon 64 x2 4200+4GB RamASUS A8NNvidia GeForce 8600 GTSI ran a memory check and nothing showed and I believe my drivers are all up to date. In Device Manager I have two unknown devices on PCI standard ISA bridges and and a creative game port on PCI bus 4, device 8, function 1 showing errors.
I have started to experience frequent crashes (freezes and sometime BSOD) with my x201. Nothing gets written to my minidump directory. I am unable to get the system to write to a memory.dmp file using the posted instructions. The most frequent error message I get is: The instruction at 0x00000000774CCB98 reference memory at 0x00000000719710B8. The required data was not placed into memory because of an I/O error status of 0xc000000e.
I ran memtest86 through 10 cycles with no errors. I am attaching the compressed output from the windows_NT6. As well as the perfmon report. As you will see I've disabled Bluetooth devices since the drivers weren't loading.
My Configuration: Windows 7 Pro 64-bit SP1 Intel Core i7 620M @ 2.67GHz 8.00 GB Dual-Channel DDR3 @ 532MHz (7-7-7-20) MB LENOVO 3249CTO Graphics ThinkPad Display 1280x800 (1280x800@50Hz) Intel(R) HD Graphics Crucial 250GB C300-CTFDDAA256MAG (SATA)
I have been getting BSOD's with the USB_BUG_CODE error. It used to be once every few months but it seems to be getting more frequent. I have attached the zip file with the information compiled by the diagnostic tool.
The BSoD has happened a few times over the last few days. Every time it reboots just fine. I have noticed it tends to happen while downloading or while watching a show using VLC player. My background programs include McAfee Enterprise 8 and TeaTimer (Spybot S&D). I am suspicious of the McAfee because the day after I installed it was the first BSoD
After reboot from most recent crash I copied the details from the "Windows just recovered from an unexpected error" box. Problem signature: Problem Event Name:BlueScreen OS Version:6.1.7601.2.1.0.768.3 Locale ID:1033

I have also attached the zip of dump from the SF Diagnostic Tool.
I got a lot of BSOD on Windows 7 64 bits.I have updated the video cards drivers and all the others drivers windows update suggestI have run the Windows 7 mem test 2 times without any error. The weird thing is that the stop code change a lot. Here is the computer spec: HP Pavilion a6318f PC (GX769AA) specifications - HP Home & Home Office Products With a 8800 GT geforce 4 instead of the default card and 3 gigs instead of 2.For now, I'm thinking of trying another video card or doing a windows repair. But I would like if someone that know how to read dmp file could point me in the right direction.
My university has wireless in the dorms, which is great but it randomly disconnects me from the network. I don't have such problems on any of my mobile devices, so I'm convinced there's a Windows tweak that
i've been having major issues with my pc that i built roughly 3 months ago. I've been trying to figure this out for about a week now but i'm really at wits end here.
The Problem:When i boot into windows 7 it works for about 5-10 minutes just fine before it hard hangs. This problem started roughly 3 weeks ago, but the lockouts were so infrequent i figured it was just random glitches. Now, this lockout occurs every time i try to start my computer in anything but safe mode. I've never seen a BSOD before, the computer just locks up and becomes unresponsive to all inputs. If a video or some sound was playing at the time of crash the speakers also play a "brrrrr" noise. It even occurs if i boot the computer and just let it sit there without running any programs whatsoever. Since building the computer i have not added any major new hardware or done any drastic changes other than download or install fairly banal programs.
What I've done: Updated graphics card driver Checked Bios Version-up to date sfc /scannow returned no problems Error log shows nothing but "kernel 41 power critical error" Taken apart computer to look for any hardware damage
From my research this "kernel 41 power critical error" is a fairly widespread problem but no one seems to have one set solution for it. I really am out of ideas and frustrated beyond belief.
I am running windows 7 64 bit on my desktop. System specs : Intel core 2 quad @ 2.83 ghz p5q pro mobo 4 gb ram 600 watt psu cooler master
Now I have been diagnosing my pc for some time now the latest problem has been automatic restarts very frequently. This problem raised while I was reinstalling the thermal paste of my gpu and fan. It did go well and the temps dropped to 45 c in idle but a new problem started, reboots. I tried these things till now:
- Clean boot - Safe mode works fine (mostly) - Run it with 1 stick and 2 sticks of ram - Resetting the bios - Start up repairs
For the moment, safe mode is working but normal mode wont start. As the windows logo comes, it shuts down altogether and restarts again and so on. I tried disabling automatic restart and got a bsod once. Error was : 0x0bad0020
The past few weeks she has been getting frequent BSODs, usually three or four a day: KERNEL_DATA_IMPAGE_ERROR.While I know enough to view this using BlueScreenView, I'd like to know how to interpret it
I have for some time had problems with my computer slowing down and suffering from frequent bouts of 'Not Responding' on applications, mainly Internet Explorer and Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, Excel. My computer is now at the stage where it is periodically unusable?
