BSOD While Running CPU Intensive Programs - Bug Check Code 0x00000124

Aug 18, 2012

I went through my first attempt at building my own computer about 2 months ago and the process went fine. But about a week after I began using it, I started getting BSOD that seemed happen whenever I would run a CPU intensive program (Handbrake, VMWare Player, etc). It won't always crash when running one of these, but maybe once every couple of days when running a program such as this.I've tried the following after researching online: Ran memtest86 overnight, no errors found in RAM Put in a beefier CPU cooler (ZALMAN CNPS9500A-LED 92mm 2 Ball CPU Cooler) to lower the CPU temps Reinstalled to a fresh version of Windows 7 Ran 'verifier.exe' according to the steps shown in many posts here - the result of this is that about 30-60 seconds after I login to Windows, a BSOD occurs - this is repeatable every time until I cancel the verifier program The specs of this computer are as follows: Intel Core i7 3770 processor Microsoft Windows 7 Professional x64 Antec BP550 Plus 550W Continuous Power ATX12V V2.2 80 PLUS Certified Modular Active PFC Power Supply G.SKILL Ripjaws X Series 16GB (2 x 8GB) 240-Pin DDR3 SDRAM DDR3 1333 (PC3 10666) Desktop Memory Model F3-10666CL9D-16GBXL ASUS Sabertooth Z77 LGA 1155 Intel Z77 HDMI SATA 6Gb/z USB 3.0 ATX Intel Motherboard NVIDIA GTX GeForce 550ti (installed AFTER the BSOD started occurring) Crucial M4 2.5" 64 GB SATA III Internal SSD Seagate 300 GB HDD (don't have the exact model here) ASUS 24x DVD-RW ?

How To Fix BSOD And STOP Code 0x0000001E

Jan 31, 2013

My OS is Windows 7 Home Edition 64bit. Recently I'm learning to make videos and my routine is editing the raw file in Windows Movie Maker then adding some effects to it in Adobe After Effects. I've been doing fine for months until suddenly the blue screen appeared. At first the problem only occurred occasionally when I tried to import to or export from WMM. But then it happened more and more often even when I was doing nothing until it reached the point where my computer couldn't even make it to windows anymore. I took my friend's advice and reinstall windows but that didn't fix the problem.

Windows 7 BSOD Stop Code 124?

Apr 13, 2012

what this following error code means? I'm guessing it's some kind of hardware failure but I can't figure out what. I bought a new western digital caviar black 1TB hard drive, installed it with Sata cables and installed Windows 7 ultimate on it and it worked fine for a couple of days. All of a sudden today I get this error. I should mention that the reason why I decided to replace the hard drive is because my other hard drive(s) were fine until one of their sata cable broke in half and even tho I replaced the sata cables on those drives they still won't boot and would cause BSOD's. So, I decided to buy a new drive and new cables and try it.

Technical information:***Stop: 0x00000124 (0x0000000000000000, 0xFFFFFA8005B3E028, 0X00000000B2000000, 0X000000000004008F)

BSOD Stop Code 3b, Unclear Cause?

Oct 20, 2012

I have been getting a BSOD every couple days. The error is a system_service_exception with stop code 3b. (STOP: 0x0000003b (0x00000000C0000005, 0xFFFFF9600010D010, 0XFFFFF88E011B40, 0x000000000000)To explain further, I have had this exact same error on TWO different computers, one of them completely new, while running the same combination of programs/drivers. They are both Stop code 3b with Parameter 1 the same, 0x00000000C0000005 (though Parameter 2 and 3 are different for each time the BSOD comes up). The two computers have different graphics drivers, so I believe graphics drivers can be ruled out as the problem (one is a AMD Radeon 6750M, the other is an Intel HD Graphics 4000). The graphics drivers are also updated. They are both running Windows 7, one is a Lenovo ThinkPad x1 Carbon, the other is a Macbook Pro running Bootcamp (I blamed bootcamp for the problem, which is why I got the new computer, but it seems that it is not the problem).

In both cases, I am running a 30" external monitor via a DVI-D to Displayport adapter, made by Accell (with additional USB powering). I believe this may be the problem, because after several days not using the monitor I did not have the crash. This is not conclusive though, because it normally only crashes every 2-5 days, but I think it may be a good place for a knowledgeable person to start. However, I used the computer for many months without any crashes with this external monitor, and it has only been crashing in the last month.I am also running a Logitech external trackball mouse and have a somewhat new Brother printer and it's associated drivers. I have Nod32 ESET antivirus, updated to the most recent version. I'm also using a program that uses a PostGreSQL database, and am running several applications at a time (not graphics intensive but I believe it does use up a fair amount of resources). For the most part, the crash has only happened after a couple hours of use. I have had all of these things installed and running on both computers when they crashed.

According to BlueScreenView, on both computers the error is caused by driver win32k.sys, caused by address win32k.sys+7d010. The crash address is ntoskrnl.exe+7efc0.My plan is to keep using the computer(s) without the external monitor, and see if they ever crash. If the monitor is the cause, I would hope for some solution that would allow me to use the monitor (I'd be willing to buy a new adapter if it might make a difference).I can't figure out how to upload the .dmp file, so you can find it here on another post of mine: http://windows7forums.com/blue-scr [...] post275928

Windows 7 BSOD On Start-up, STOP Code But No Reason

Jan 29, 2012

My laptop has been crashing rather frequently, and is starting to be a pain.
Microsoft Windows 7 Home Premium 64-bit, original installed OS on system, OEM. Bought in 2009. I have not re-installed the OS.

The BlueScreen that comes up has no line of data at the top on bold print! It has the STOP code at the bottom, but the screen only stays up long enough for it to quickly make a dmp file before it automatically reboots. Therefore, no idea what it's trying to tell me! Once it restarts successfully, the little window pops up with the BCCodes etc., and links to the Minidump folder.
Oldest saved Info (after the first time, when I was clueless and closed the window):

Win7 Installer Fails With BSOD & Error Code: STOP

Oct 27, 2009

upgrade my system from Windows XP Pro SP3. The setup starts and gets past creating a user account, setting a computer name etc and then restarts and looks like Windows 7 is going to startup and then I get a BLUE SCREEN OF DEATH with:

STOP: C000021a [Fatal System Error}

The intial session process or system process terminated unexpectedly with a status of 0x00000000 (0xC0000001 0x00100400)

It then mentions about dumping the memory out to disk and reboots. If i press F8 and attempt to boot SAFE MODE I get a requester saying that setup cannot be completed in Safe Mode. If try the startup recovery the first time it says it fixed a problem and wants to restart again but it has fixed nothing. Next time the startup recovery just runs and doesn't appear to finish.

I have run the Windows Memeory Diagnostic within the setup and memory checks out fine. I initially thought the onboad audio chipset was the issue and disabled that but it made no difference. I did get one successful installation but it eventually crashed and burned with the same error after approximately 12 hours.

Repeated STOP:0X00000124 Errors?

Aug 30, 2009

I'm getting this error repeatedly right now. System will run for anywhere upto an hour before BSOD or just a crash and reboot. I was reading a magazine about an hour ago with the computer on and watched as the thing crashed and rebooted 4 times in 30 minutes. I'm at my wits end with this. Was happening with vista too which is why i downloaded the RC for Win 7 after doing a vista reinstall and everything else i could think of to solve the problem.I installed RC about 3 weeks ago with no problems for about a day then it'd happen once a day or so now though it's happening a couple of times an hour.Thinking it was a graphics card problem i updated my drivers but no luck, then switched out my ATi Radeon HD4650 for a Radeon X1650 but no change, just worse graphics on WoW.

Can someone please tell me first what STOP:0X00000124 errors are and how to actually diagnose them or even better how to fix themHere's the details i get offered on the latest crash after reboot.[CODE]

Blue Screen With Stop Error 0x00000124

I've been intermittently getting blue screens with the stop error 0x00000124, which the internet told me is either a driver or hardware issue. I've run memtest for 5 passes on both sticks of RAM and there were no errors. I do overclock my CPU, but my system is water cooled and the temp is always stable. In addition when not overclocked I still will get a blue screen sometimes. Here are my specs.

Repeated BSOD With Error 0x00000124

Apr 11, 2012

My computer has recently been "randomly" giving me a BSOD. Now, I am pretty sure it is happening because I also recently overclocked my cpu, however, I did have problems before overclocking it (although not as often). I find my computer tends to BSOD either overnight, when I only have Folding@Home running, or during the day when all I have running is Chrome (F@H is running, but paused). I have also noted that my gpu (1x GeForce GTX 560 Ti) almost always fails while running F@H in the first 24hrs the system is up. However, my main concern is the BSOD.Now the reason I stated that I have had problems before oc my cpu is that ever since I first powered it up nearly 10 months ago I have had problems with the computer freezing on me. Note this was before I oc my cpu, and even before I installed F@H. Originally I thought it might be bad memory, but testing has ruled this out I just restarted my computer, and it now only detects 4.00 GB of installed memory, when it should detect 8.00 GB. The system will hang, sometimes for a few seconds, but most often for a couple of minutes, before suddenly "fixing" itself. This has, on occasion, led to a BSOD, though most of the time it resolves itself. Also, on occasion it doesn't fix itself and I have to do a hard reboot. After a while I decided to have task manager open on my second monitor at all times so that I could monitor the cpu usage and memory, incase something odd happened when it froze. Doing so, I noticed that every time the computer froze, all four cores of my cpu would shoot up to 100% and then drop back down after the system resolved itself. However, memory usage never changed (note this was also done with F@H not running). Also, the source of the freezing seemed to change. Sometimes my monitors would go black for a few seconds and then everything would come back. A message would pop up on my task bar stating something along the lines of "your graphics display driver/kernel has crashed and successfully recovered." Other times, a window would pop up stating that "the memory instruction could not be read" and giving me some error code. Still other times the system would resolve itself and nothing would happen, no error message or temporary black screens.

- Windows 7 Home Premium 64 bit Service Pack 1
- Original installed OS
- OEM full retail (OEM I installed)
- System is about 9-10 months old
- original OS installation (9-10 months old)

BSOD Playing Battlefield 3, Error 0x00000124

Jan 24, 2012

everytime I play Battlefield 3 I get in max. 30 minutes a BSOD. And it ONLY happens with this game, everything else works perfectly fine without crashes or whatsoever. This has been going on since half December, which is about a week after I updated my drivers. It first happened once or twice, where I though that it was just coincidence, but now it happens every time I try to play Battlefield 3.Since it happened a bit after updating the drivers, I thought it was that. Today most of the drivers needed to be updated again, including the infamous Realtek sound drivers that are supposed to give problems with Battlefield 3, so I updated them hoping it would solve the problem. No dice, I still get a BSOD when playing Battlefield 3.Dump files are in the attachment. I didn't include the perfmon HTML file since it refuses to generate a report, even when the Performance Logs & Alert service is set on manual.
