I bought a new pc yesterday stats below i had registry issues i system restored them fine no probs then after putting about 30 songs crysis warhead and usb bluetooth and drivers for the usb bluetooth i need to restart so i did and then i tryed reinstalling Windows 7 seeming like the logical choice so what can i do i have access to my mates laptop
i have my (main) desktop hooked up with mapped folders which my two other computers (laptop wireless and wired and desktop wired) can access and do what i intended them to with sharing restrictions, etc. However, my 2nd laptop that after a struggle connecting it to the homegroup will not allow access to any mapper folders keeps popping up with a login screen for THAT laptop, and my others will not connect to it properly.
laptop so I reformatted his laptop and when I try to to connect to the internet via WiFi I could connect but I would have limited access. I can connect to the internet with my old laptop, iphone and xbox. But I cant connect to my newly reformatted laptop
Why is it that I can do anything to my Xp laptop shares from Windows 7 but Xp asks for a username and password to access Win?
Am I supposed to know what this username and password is? Did I create a username and password while not paying attention?
I've turned off password protected sharing in advanced sharing settings, turned on file and print sharing, both computers are joined to WORKGROUP. I went through the file sharing setup wizard on Windows 7 which spat out a password at the end but like so what? There's no username to go with it and it doesn't work if you enter that password from Xp anyway.
Can someone please put me on the right track here?
I hope that MS realise that there's an ocean of idiots like me that just want to copy a file from PC A to PC B at home and that the wizard should set all this up for us and not make us google around for half an hour just to find out how to copy a file from box to box. Unless it's intentionally not backward compatible?
Already reset tcpip as admin, reset the modem, disabled bonjour, set Internet protocols to auto. Can connect on itouch, other laptops can as well. Only me and my friends laptop can't.
I'm not sure where my other post on this went to I'm going to write it again. I recently switched over to Xfinity internet and one of the laptops in the household is not connecting to it correctly. After deleting it from the router and adding it back, the new error message I receive from troubleshoot is "Your computer appears to be correctly configured, but the device or resource (Microsoft Home Page | Devices and Services) is not responding".
It worked just fine when I tried to connect it via the Ethernet cable. I have tried clearing the DNS cache as well. Here is my ipconfig /all for the laptop:
Microsoft Windows [Version 6.1.7601] Copyright (c) 2009 Microsoft Corporation. All rights reserved. C:Windowssystem32>ipconfig /all Windows IP Configuration Host Name . . . . . . . . . . . . : Jordan-PC
I recently purchased a laptop from a company that i used to work for which went into administration. I can log on with my details as normal, but I am unable to install software or complete any upgrades as it keeps asking for Administration password. I have tried calling the IT people that took care of the laptops for this but they are not responding back regarding the password. When I use to have upgrades done the IT people would do this remotely. I have contacted Toshiba, who have said I will need to order a recovery disk, but this will wipe out all data. Does someone know of less drastic action?
my laptop got into trouble while i cleaned a virus from my pen drive. Many malfunctions occurred in the system like I cannot access my devices and printers, my network in system tray do not show, I cannot change my default programs and when I try to associate default programs they do not get associate and I cannot install my HP printer which I could use previously with no problem. I have kaspersky 2012 internet security and it says my system is clean. I tried many things like clean boot, system restore
My cousin has a desktop with a dsl internet connection while I don't so one time I tried inserting the internet cable in my laptop's port hoping that I would be able to connect to the web and get some updates on my anti-virus program. But to my dismay, I was not able to secure a connection thus failed to update.I talked to a friend of mine regarding this problem and he told me that it has something to do with REFERENCE Number.
I have 3 computers connected via a router. A desktop running windows 7(lan cable), a desktop running XP (lan cable) and a laptop running XP (wireless).
Both XP machines can access the Windows 7 machine and edit/view files. The Windows 7 desktop can access the XP desktop. But the Windows 7 desktop CAN NOT access the XP laptop. I receive the following message.
"Documents is not accessible. You might not have permission to use this network resource. Contact the administrator of the server to find out if you have access permissions.
Not enough server storage is available to process this command"
I have tried a few things including the IRPStackSize regedit that msft goes on about, but I still can’t get it working.
i think the motherboard went out on my laptop (have a gateway nv53, turned it on one evening after using it that day and the power light came on, the cpu fan came on for a second, then nothing, no "no hard drive detected" no beeping, nothing.after taking it apart and trying to see if something came loose, i found nothing. i have a thermaltake backxduet internal drive docking station. I can see my drive, i can see everything on it, except what i really want, windows 7 puts everything in a library, i see it under user, my name, but if i click on the folder it tells me access denied. that is where all my photos and documents are, and that is what is important to me. I can get a motherboard for $150, but i dont know if it is the motherboard for sure or not, i am guessing since i get power, the cpu starts to heat up if left on for a while (amd chip) so i know the cpu is getting power, the fan is getting power, the monitor has a plug that i think i power, it is getting voltage, i also tried plugging in an external monitor and i had nothing.
okay so i have kind of a huge problem. well not really i'm just being a bit dramatic. lol. i have recently gotten a new laptop (hp pavillion dv7-6157cl / windows 7 home premium) and since i set it up i have had a problem signing into facebook. the only time i was able to do so is the day i got it, when my sister installed some add-on but it stopped working less than an hour later. i am able to access the web page but am unable to sign in. at first, i would put in my information to log in and i would see a message saying i had to enable cookies.. so i did that and i still get that lovely message sometimes and i go to my internet options and the cookies are enabled. -_- but what i usually get now is "you must log on to see this page" after i attempt to log in.
i know my log in information is correct because i am able to log in on my android, so that is not the problem. also, i have restored the internet settings to how it originally was and nothing. another problem that i had, which i mention just in case there is some correlation to the problem at hand, is that i was having problems logging into my gmail and Internet account. the problem was that i was checking the box for "stay signed in." so when i didn't check that box i was able to sign into both. oh and i am trying to refrain from using any other web browsers because some have told me that it is easier to get viruses and that they cause unnecessary problems that may easily be avoided.
I"ve got a several month old Toshiba X505 870 with I5-720CPU, 4GB of memory and TWO Hitachi 7200 rpm 500GB SATA II hard drives. The system is used primarily for initial examination of digital images, with each image being around 20MB (so we're not talking big files). Accessing images to display previews is perceptibly slow. Yes, the system is tuned to the best of my ability, although I'm certainly open to other tuning things I've missed or just don't know. Both disks have been, and are REGULARLY defragmented - both show 0% fragmentation. I've thrown away the original O/S with all the trialware, stupidity, and goop, and installed Windows 7 Home Premius, 64-bit. All the drivers I'm aware of are current, including the Intel storage drivers. Other than the periodic Side-By-Side errors that show up every couple days, I'm NOT getting application or system errors. Both disks are set to the setting for best performance (I can't recall the wording but something like write-delay or whatever)...
In Bridge or Lightroom I"m not getting CPU bound, but this thing beats on the disk(s) quite a bit, and takes MUCH longer than the desktop system to display images. Admittedly, "MUCH LONGER" is probably between .5 and 2 seconds, but it's still a LOT longer than my desktop takes to display the same previews. The desktop is a slightly faster CPU (I7 920), but it also has standard 7200 rpm drives for images, and it's SIGNIFICANTLY faster at retrieving and displaying images in Bridge or Lightroom...Is there any PRACTICAL (no, putting in 2, 500GB SSD drives is not practical) way to speed up disk access on this laptop?
I have a Sony Handy Cam But i can't access the videos or pictures in my laptop . I don't have the CD drive in my laptop & i want to connect the handy cam by USB cable to my Idea pad , But i can not see the pictures & Videos
I have a Dell Inspiron laptop that won't connect wirelessly to my network. ALL other devices in the house (iPhones, iPads, iMac, 1 laptop and another desktop) work fine, no problems. I've tested the laptop at my girlfriend's house using her wifi and still the same problem: Limited Access.
I've ran the troubleshoot, re-booted the router & laptop, checked device manager for any exclamation marks against any drivers (none), tried disabling/enabling the driver, checked for driver updates (none), done a system restore and uninstalled my antivirus software but all to no avail.
Edit: I've tried plugging in the ethernet cable which, although not particularly straight-forward, eventually works.
I currently run windows 7 home premium on both my PC and laptop (64bit). I wish to remotely access the PC from the laptop via the home network. As home premium does not support this should I upgrade to windows 7 professional to get6 this facility or purchase seperate software?
I recently spilled coffee on the key board of my Dell Inspiron 1545 Laptop and believe it shorted the keyboard. I have a new laptop I would like to migrate over the docs and pics I have on that laptop to, but I can't get past the Windows 7 password stage because my keys that I need to use to type it don't work.Does anyone have any suggestions on how I can reset my password or log in without a password? My mouse still works, so if I can get in, I will have no problems. Also, I tried connecting a USB keyboard and for some reason the keys don't work on that either. IE) both the laptop and the usb keyboard only have the backspace, and space bar that work.
My laptop has stopped working, so I am using its Sata hard-drive as an external drive on my PC in order to make sure all my files are backed up. I can copy my photos across but it says I don't have permission to access my documents, even though I use the same name and password on both my laptop and my PC. Does anyone know a way of accessing these files?
My laptop will connect perfectly fine to my home network, other private networks, and many public hotspots. But there seems to be an issue recently with a few local hotspots around town here (Starbucks, McDonalds). I can go to one Starbucks and connect perfectly fine, then drive right down the street to another and while I am connected, it says I have no internet access. I've been able to connect perfectly fine here before, but suddenly this problem has continued. I'm completely at a loss for what to do. I've rebooted, disabled and re-enabled the network card, tried to troubleshoot the problem (which results in no information). The darned thing shows me that I am connected with terrific signal strength, but no internet access.

Every since I connected a Windows 7 (64) laptop to our network, internet has become intermittent to other users. There seems to be a conflict of some kind in our LAN. DHCP is on in our ISP Router/Modem. And I haven't seen any IP conflict so far.
