View 1 RepliesI seem to recall being able to share a laptop's desktop on my old XP network. The desktop was listed in Windows Explorer as are other files and folders. Apparently, not so in Windows 7.
My network includes a desktop computer and a laptop, shared in a home network. How do I share the laptop's desktop contents (so that I can place files there from the desktop computer)? Or, how do I get Windows Explorer to list the desktop as it lists other files and folders (to allow me to share it)?
I have a laptop with windows7 installed and PC with windows xp installed.I am using tp-link with a capability of wired&wireless modem router.I connected my laptop via wireless and connected the internet, it is working properly. When i connected to the xp PC via Lan connection. I can able to share the files. But i am unable to share the internet connection.
1. Checked the sharing option in wireless lan.
2.Checked the option sharing in broadband connection in laptop windows7.
3.Changed the properties of the local area connection in PC to ip address as 192.168.2.2 (where windows7 laptop ip address is 192.168.2.1) and subnet mask as 255.255.255.0 And leave other as blank still it is not connecting to internet.
I have a laptop with Windows 7 installed, using USB 3G device connect though the Internet. The problem is I have 3 machines and a spare router that I want to share the Internet.

View 9 Replies View RelatedUpon startup, the desktop icons are accessible, however, upon opening/closing of Internet Explorer, the icons will not even highlight, let alone open. This is both left click (single and double) and right click actions. The right click will not work on the desktop image/wallpaper itself either.
View 1 Replies View RelatedI have 3 computers connected via a router. A desktop running windows 7(lan cable), a desktop running XP (lan cable) and a laptop running XP (wireless).
Both XP machines can access the Windows 7 machine and edit/view files. The Windows 7 desktop can access the XP desktop. But the Windows 7 desktop CAN NOT access the XP laptop. I receive the following message.
"Documents is not accessible. You might not have permission to use this network resource. Contact the administrator of the server to find out if you have access permissions.
Not enough server storage is available to process this command"
I have tried a few things including the IRPStackSize regedit that msft goes on about, but I still can’t get it working.
how can I access my desktop (windows xp) from my laptop (windows 7)
View 2 Replies View RelatedI'm not sure where my other post on this went to I'm going to write it again. I recently switched over to Xfinity internet and one of the laptops in the household is not connecting to it correctly. After deleting it from the router and adding it back, the new error message I receive from troubleshoot is "Your computer appears to be correctly configured, but the device or resource (Microsoft Home Page | Devices and Services) is not responding".
It worked just fine when I tried to connect it via the Ethernet cable. I have tried clearing the DNS cache as well. Here is my ipconfig /all for the laptop:

My cousin has a desktop with a dsl internet connection while I don't so one time I tried inserting the internet cable in my laptop's port hoping that I would be able to connect to the web and get some updates on my anti-virus program. But to my dismay, I was not able to secure a connection thus failed to update.I talked to a friend of mine regarding this problem and he told me that it has something to do with REFERENCE Number.

View 1 Replies View RelatedMy laptop will connect perfectly fine to my home network, other private networks, and many public hotspots. But there seems to be an issue recently with a few local hotspots around town here (Starbucks, McDonalds). I can go to one Starbucks and connect perfectly fine, then drive right down the street to another and while I am connected, it says I have no internet access. I've been able to connect perfectly fine here before, but suddenly this problem has continued. I'm completely at a loss for what to do. I've rebooted, disabled and re-enabled the network card, tried to troubleshoot the problem (which results in no information). The darned thing shows me that I am connected with terrific signal strength, but no internet access.

I have been accessing wifi on it for almost the entire time... Was workn on the nternet with my laptop till day before yesterday mornng.....
When i switched it on in the evenng, it suddenly started showing that the internet is connected, but there is no nternet access!!! There was a yellow icon (triangle) at the internet connection icon...!!
I am able to access the same internet with my ipad n iphone, but says 'no internet access' or 'limited access' while trying the same from my laptop...!!
I'm having an annoying problem. With my desktop computer I'm unable to access the webmail login for my work website. I'm not positive, but I thought it might be due to the full version trial of Malwarebytes that I installed. I've uninstalled and reinstalled Malwarebytes using Revo Uninstaller, and now have just the standard version, and I still have the problem.
I can access my work website (except for the webmail login), but when I try to ping my work website I get "general failure" results. I also get "general failure" results when pinging the webmail login.I can access the webmail login through my laptop. The reason I think it might be Malwarebytes is because from what I remember random websites stopped loading after I opted for the full version trial.I tried disabling Windows Firewall and Security Essentials real time scanning I've tried to access the webmail login using Firefox, Chrome and IE and none worked. I've tried using my cell phone as a modem to bypass the router and that didn't work.
Now then I see someone has posted a similar issue to mine but his seems more technical than mine. What's the issue you ask? I have a laptop that is running windows 7 and can view the document folder on my vista desktop but when I try to access it, it restricts me saying I don't have access. I removed the password being required to access files. I took off the shared wizard thing on the folder I want to access (on the vista desktop) that was recommended by another user on the site.
I still can't access the files on that computer but i can access from the desktop the files on my laptop (windows 7) both are on the same workgroup but I don't know what else to do.
how do i transfer from my dell laptops hard drive to desktop when monitor on lap top is dead
View 1 Replies View RelatedSo pc is working fine I unplug ethernet cable into laptop to access internet on it,works fine, put ethernet back into computer and now there is no access to the internet. The internet still works as I checked it by plugging it back into laptopThe pc is working all software etc. but there is no internet accesswhen internet works on laptop it says public network but on pc network is unidentified and i can't change it. I tried making a new connection but it asks for username and password and I've never done anything like that. Should i type one in and that creates the password etc. or would i need to have one to create it. I don't really know what the network thing is all about I'm a newb on that part.eI tried network trouble shooter and that didn't help either.

Now the dates are too recent and will not allow me to restore back long enough to undo whatever messed with my internet connection.

I have gotten them to the point where I can see them on each system but when I tried to access them I get "path not valid error". The other thing is it was working before I went on vacation. I used my laptop in Florida and since I have been back I cant get on the network. I don't know what I did to get on the network the first time....
View 3 Replies View RelatedI have a Win 7 laptop and xp desktop on my network. When I try to access the xp desktop from the win 7 laptop, I sometimes get a dialog box requesting username/password. Other times I get a message box that I do not have permission to access the desktop. Other times still, everything works fine. The xp can access the laptop no problem. The laptop can always see the desktop in the network, the problem is accessing it to share files or use a printer attached to the desktop.I have no passwords on either computer. I have disabled passwords in the advanced network settings for home & work. Registry has LmCompatibilityLevel set to 3 on the laptop
View 9 Replies View RelatedI purchased a laptop last week with Windows 7 home premium. Currently have desktop wire to router with Windows 7 home premium as well. Everything hunky dorry in regards to internet connection. 2 days later, I've lost internet connection to both computers. Both say I'm connected to my network. I have other mobile devices that can connect to the router, so I don't think that's the issue. I read about disabling Home Group, which I did and that didn't help. I've got to think that there is a setting I just need to tweek, but have yet to come across something that works. The laptop does connect at my work to the WiFi so the network card is working properly. Both computers will connect to the internet if I bypass the router and connect ethernet cable directly from modem to computer.

View 2 Replies View Related[code] I never had this issue on Windows Vista, occasionally my internet will randomly dropout. Limited Internet Access". When it does I can do a few things to get it working again:
- Disable, then enable my wireless card and reconnect.
- Uninstall the card, then re-install and reconnect.
- Disconnect from the internet myself and reconnect.
Either way it gets super frustrating. There is 1 other computer plugged directly into the router that does not experience any issues. In addition, I have 1 laptop (windows 7) that works great and 1 laptop (Windows XP) which works great.
I'm not exactly the most tech-savvy individual, so I will try to convey the problem I'm having here. I'm at my girlfriend's house, and have two laptops with me. One is a Sony VAIO (which I am currently using), the other is an Alienware m14x (sitting right next to me). I use the Alienware to play Diablo 3, and have had no issues connecting to any wireless access points prior to this.My sony connects to her home network just fine (linksys), but the alienware will not. I enter in the network password, and when I try to connect, it gives me the yellow exclamation mark over the white connection bars. When I click on it, it says "connected" in bold letters next to the network name. However, above, it says "Unidentified network," and underneath, "No Internet access."I have tried disabling firewalls and anti-virus software, I have reset the router, the computer, the wireless adapter, all to no avail. I'm not sure what to do. I'm pretty sure it's not the router's issue since all other wireless devices in the house connect to it just fine.

View 1 Replies View RelatedI am trying to configure Remote Desktop Access to work over the internet. Remote Desktop Access works on my local network.
Both of my computers are on Windows 7 Professionnal. My router is a Belkin F9K1002.
I followed the official widows tutorial. I forwarded the necessary port on my router (I switched from port 3389 to 50000, in case 3389 was blocked by my isp).
Every time I try to connect I get
"Remote Desktop can't connect to the remote computer for one of these reasons:
1)Remote access to the server is not enabled
2)The remote computer is turned off
3)The remote computer is not available on the network Make sure the remote computer is turned on and connected to the network, and that remote access is enabled."
In my office, I have a win2003 server running a domain. Most our clients are xp pro machines but I recently got a win7 home premium pc and am trying to access a shared folder on the server but no luck. No matter what permissions I've set (share permissions and security permissions), I can not access this one folder on the server from this machine. I realize I am unable to logon to the domain with win7 home but I should be able to access a shared folder right?
View 7 Replies View RelatedOur network runs on a 2008 active directory domain, and our domain controller also is an internal DNS server; we have an additional server that is our internal web server and hosts a RAID 1 mirrored file share for everyone to put their data (which we have folder redirection configured on for the My Documents folder, and people also access it as a mapped network drive). It all works flawlessly, except on two client computers.
1. The two clients can ping the file server both by name and IP.
2. Clients can can log into the file server by remote desktop, by name.
3. Nslookup shows that the clients can communicate with the DNS server and resolve the domain name to the correct IP address.
4. Clients can access the internal sites at http://<file server>
5. Clients cannot access the file share at \<file server>, but can access it at \192.168.1.104.
6. I have already flushed the DNS cache on the client machines.
Its really odd, because it would seem like this is a DNS issue but everything else works: http dns works, nslookup works, and I already flushed the DNS cache. These are the only computers having any issues at all. All the computers on the network have their dns server manually assigned, and all the servers have a DHCP reservation so their IP wont change.
I have a few computers on the network and they have shared files.I can see their shares fine, they can't see mine.
192.168.0.1 ->this doesn't work for them, they keep getting the error that they don't have permission to acess it.
192.168.0.1SharedFolder
this works for them. They are mixed machines, vista, windows7 but they all get the error when trying to connect directly to my ip.
I tried enabling and then disabling homegroup(not using it btw) turning password protected sharing on and off, NOTHING works
What does one have to reset/fix in order to connect to the ip and see the shares on that machine.
