View 7 Replies View RelatedI have a home network with two printers attached to the main computer. I got tired of seeing bogus listings in the drop down menu, either leftover from when the printers belonged to a different computer in the network or even listings of printers that were long gone. I opened up Control Panel and cleaned things up there so that only the actual still-existing computers are still there, and yet they continue to show up in drop down menus on other computers in my network.

View 1 Replies View RelatedShe has recently had to upgrade to Windows 7 and as a result she now has Word 2010 instead of 2000, or maybe it was 2003.
The most annoying feature of Word 2010 is the so-called "Ribbon". It shows every font installed in Word and we don't want to see any of them (my blind colleague cannot see them anyway) - what is more, it takes up a lot of space. Is there a way of removing all those fonts from the Ribbon?
Classic Menus for Office 2010 doesn't work on Office 2010 Starter.

Ever since I did this I have not been able to open the specific file involved with the open-as-admin. After several attempts, I did get an error indicating that the file caused serious errors the last time is was opened.

I am in the process of assisting some users in switching from Win XP/Office 2003 -> Win 7/Office 2010 and have hit a roadblock. I have a user that has an excel macro that opens an ADO connection to a SharePoint and grabs a record of the excel files on the SharePoint. The macro works perfectly on XP/2003 and XP/2010 but fails on 7/2010.
They are using this connection line: Code: davDir.Open "", "URL=http://SharePoint/Directory/URL", _
adModeRead, adFailIfNotExists, adDelayFetchStream
Set davFiles = davDir.GetChildren() Once they have the record they iterate through each Excel file on the SharePoint to open and parse them.
On Windows 7/2010 I get these errors when it gets to the davDir.Open line:When they error trap it throws this error:Quote: Object or data matching the name, range, or selection criteria was not found within the scope of this operation. Without error trapping it throws this error:Quote: Run-time error '-2147217895 (80040e19):Automation error I can connect to the SharePoint fine via IE or File/Open in Excel 2010. I have tried every variation of the URL I can and I just keep getting the same error.
I cannot open my file from Excel 1997 even though I tried to used your suggested converter what is the appropriate thing to use for me to read my file completely ?

View 1 Replies View RelatedI sometimes get a script error when getting data from web when using Excel 2010.
This seems to depend on the ISP I'm using as I can take the laptop into some Wifi enabled Cafe's and EXCEL gets the data without the error popup.
Since I like to run some of these as background queries (updating Stock prices for instance) is there any way to skip or supress the popup. I've just about tried every possible option both in OFFICE and IE.
I am trying to print a document in Excel Starter 2010. The document contains the columns A to J and rows 1 to 466. When I try to print the document, only one column prints per page. I have tried selecting all the columns and changing the print selection but this just shrinks the column size, and prints it smaller. How do I change it so that I can print all columns A to J on the one page?

View 1 Replies View RelatedJust started using a new workstation with Office 2010 installed by OEM. Everything worked fine for a few days, and then every time i attempt to open a Word file or Excel file i get the MS Office dialog box that states "please wait while windows configures Microsoft Office 2010". The dialog box stays visible for 30-45 seconds and then the program opens and works fine.
Ran a repair, four times, didn't fix it.
All of my research leads me to a solution of uninstalling and re-installing. I'm not buying that if everything worked fine for several days, that a bad install will make the program stop functioning properly.
I also noticed, while visiting help within outlook, that the product was still a trial version and not currently activated. I have entered the activation code numerous times with no luck.
I was recently upgraded to Windows 7 and Office 2010. Under my old version of Windows XP & Office XP/07, when I received an emailed spreadsheet & made adjustments to it, I was able to save it directly over the old emailed file. Now when I make any changes I am asked to save a copy of the file & to save it elsewhere on my computer & cannot save it directly over the original emailed spreadsheet. how to get this old feature back? I'm sure it's just a matter of ticking some option off.
View 7 Replies View RelatedI'm working with a 1997-2003 Compatibility View spreadsheet in Excel Starter and I use Comments (the little windows to pop-up when you hover the mouse over a cell) throughout.
I don't see how to edit or delete them, when I right-click, it only gives me "show/hide" them.
sometimes, and I don't know what causes it, but I don't have the blue ribbon accros the top. I can get the back arrow and :X" by bumping the curser off the top of the screen ,but that is a pain, can I fix that permanently?
View 9 Replies View RelatedDisassembled a throwaway Compaq CQ60 to repaste the heat sink. The ribbon clamps which pivot down to clamp the keyboard and touchpad ribbon cables into their place are flimsy plastic the size and heft of a fingernail clipping. One popped off and has no way to pop back on that I can see, after trying for an hour. As a result the touchpad won't work.
I don't see how to replace it because it's embedded in mobo. The part doesn't look broken but just won't reattach.
Another surprise is that the HD is loose in its compartment, missing the bracket which secures it into place so it won't slide out of contacts. Owner thinks the Geek Squat replaced it that way.
Can you make onenote ribbon always appear on opening? instead of having to ask to see it with the little down arrow. I have office 2010 pro plus windows 7 pro. It really annoys me having to click the arrow all the time.

View 9 Replies View RelatedIn graphic programs, explorer, etc when I right click I get a drop down box showing "rename". Well right above that is "delete" and I'm frequently getting the two mixed when clicking, though I don't usually actually delete cause I catch that first. Is there a way to seperate those and reorder the drop down list so they are farther apart. It gets to be a nuisance sometimes when I am rename picture files.

View 7 Replies View RelatedI have my windows 7 set up so that when I click on Start and then Control Panel a drop-down menu appears with my choices. I have a relatively fast computer. Intel Core i5 760 with 12G if RAM. To many this is indeed fast.
When I click on Start--> Ctrl Panel it will take about 3 seconds to open if I just hover my mouse over it and about 2 seconds if I click on it. Meanwhile my previous XP old PC did so instantaneously. So how could I get the drop down to go faster? (BTW all other drop down menus are quick to open.)
I'm having a problem when I try to make changes, computer will not let me save or apply the changes. Example: I try to change the volume and bounces back to the same position it was in as soon as I move the mouse. I try to use any drop down list and and whatever I click on it does not stay.
