No Valid Windows Installation Disc Can Be Detected
Jan 16, 2013My computer ended up with the malicious toolbar iminent. After multiple attempts to remove it I decided to reformat the computer, since my last backup is mercifully recent. However, when I attempted to run a repair disc, but in the middle of this I received the message in the thread's title. What's wrong? Is the repair disc something other than the disc I need? While writing this via my phone I'm currently trying an alternative of restoring my computer from a system image on my backup drive, I don't know if that will solve the problem. But even if it does, I think I should still try to find out what went wrong here for when something goes wrong in the future.

Oct 29, 2011My son is running Windows 7 Pro on a sad little 1 Gb RAM PC 3.4 GHz and of course it is somewhat underpowered and the PC is badly in need of a formatiing anyway..Problem is I can't get to a Format command anywhere??????I can get into BIOS OK, set the DVD as first boot option but when I save it (F10) and then it reboots, the screen always comes up with the "Start Windows Normally" option! I can reach the "boot from any CD/DVD option but for some weird option the arrows on the keyboard will not alow me to move away from this latter choice yet the board works fins with everything else.I can't get it to boot from the original Win 7 CD, Windows Vista or even Pro OS's ................ so of course again cannot get to the format command.I have created a System Recovery Disc but I am not 110% sure how to use this disc but nonetheless cannot seem to find an option for formatting there anyway.

Aug 25, 2012I have tried these discs on two computers (they're Sony DVD-RW's) and brand new, I open them and put them in the disc tray, I press "burn" and it either pretends to write on one computer and then says error after 3minutes (no data is recorded) or it doesn't detect the disc it keeps saying "Please insert a Disc"? I've tried literally everything and I doubt it could be the disc's because they're brand new. The windows fix it centre program identifies an issue but cannot fix it?

Oct 14, 2011just completed a first-time new Windows 7 PC build. Successful installation of Windows 7 Pro on WD 600GB 10000 system drive. Went back and installed 4 additional HDD. (2) WD Caviar Black 1TB 7200 RPM and (2) WD Caviar 7200 500GB HDD from XP system that were used for storage.
BIOS sees all HDDs, but are not viewable in Disk Management.
System Specs:
Antec Nine Hundred
ASUS P6X58D-E MOBO

However, only three are visible in Disk Management. Missing (1) WD 500GB (previously used on WinXP system) and (1) new WD 1T.

Simply put, my boot manager is missing, but only when my windows install disc is not in the disc drive. It started several months ago and I just left it be, let the disc it int he disc drive and it was not that big of a deal. But just did a clean install couple days ago I re-installed windows 7 ultimate 64-bit on my computer (using an upgrade disc if that makes a difference).I formatted the drive with what I guess is a quick format (the option the install disc gives you). Aug 18, 2012So I've been using my 64GB ssd as my windows 7 boot drive and i have a 1TB hdd as my data drive. Recently the my computer has begun to freeze up with errors like "explorer.exe" has stopped responding or "windows" has stopped responding and half of the time when i try to boot it says it cant find windows. This has lead me to believe that my ssd is dying despite being only a year old. I need to RMA my ssd but to do that i would be losing my boot drive for weeks. So I thought id try to create a system image so that i can simply put my boot drive on my hdd, but when i try to create the image it says that the image would be 711GB because its including all of my hdd (which contains all my user libraries and downloads). My question is: how do I make windows stop thinking that my hdd is a system drive so that I can create a reasonably sized image, or more generally: how can i easily move my boot drive to my hdd? Also, I've read some posts about using "easyBCD" to accomplish the latter but I'm not sure that's exactly what i need in this situation.

Sep 24, 2012I was using my desktop like normal then an error came up saying that there was a hdd failure, and that i needed to scan for errors. all my files disappeared and only this error would come up. There would be hundreds of the same msg spamed on my screen. I scaned my hdd for errors using my Bios/Advanced options and no errors came up. I decided to take out the hdd and put it into my External Hdd bay to hook up to my laptop to extract the data off it.When i hooked it up to my laptop it showed up empty. I went into folder options and clicked on show hidden files and folders. Everything came up but it was grey/transparent. I then copied the files to another hdd for backup.
Then i formatted the hdd and put on a fresh new OS. Id like to mention i have a second internal drive that i use for backups but it wasnt backed up recently when this issue happen so i had to take out the main drive and use it as an external to back up onto another external drive.so then when i click on my second internal drive after the reinstall of the new OS it shows empty i have to go in and show hidden files and folders.. now they show again transparent. also i plug in my external to get the recent back up and all those files are still transparent when i move them to my desktop that is freshly OS installed they are still grey/transparent and i have to keep the show hidden files and folders to view them.. so its all my music, pics, documents etc they are all greyed out..i tried to copy my backup IE favs into my new IE browser and they wont show up because they are hiden it shows it copied to the favs folder but in ie i cannot view them if that makes any sense.

No Battery Is Detected
Jul 5, 2011So I just moved to a new school which uses ACER TRAVELMATE 6293 as their laptops. When they first gave it to me they put a brand new battery in it and they gave me the wrong charger, greeeat, but I went back and got the correct one.Now, the laptop DOES charge. When I turn it on, it displays the battery icon with the charging icon over it if that makes sense, however it has a red cross over it and if you hover over that it says "no battery is detected". So you have no idea how long it has left to charge and so on. BUT if you take out the charger, the laptop will not turn on (as if the battery is flat, but surely it cant be because it has charged for 24 hrs.)Usually, I would just go to the IT guys/girls at school but seeing as they keep stuffing up and it is school holidays, I am hoping you kind and smart people have a solution. I have tried to get any dust out of the charger port/hole thing. And have also taken out and re-inserted the battery twice. This is driving me a bit stupid as I have homework to do. So just to make things clear, the laptop works completely find when connected to the charger except for what I said before. Oh and this is happens when I am on either the home or school image. And it runs on windows 7 of course

Nov 1, 2009just purchased a Gateway P7902h Laptop on the 30th - it came with 64 bit vista and I decided to upgrade the OS to Windows 7 (64x as well).
Ever since the install the laptop has been unable to detect my graphics card, a Geforce GTX 260M. Every time I open a driver installation program (Gateway site only has the drivers for Vista 64x so I tried those, then the Windows 7 64x ones from the Nvidia website.) I get a 'could not locate any drivers that are compatible with your hardware' error.
Looking through the Device Manager under Display Adapters, it only has the Standard VGA Graphics Adapter and not the actual card itself. Can anyone help?
