When I want to use my headphones or my external speakers, the global volume is automatically adjusted to a different setting. This happens invariably every time, when i plug in or plug out the jack.Is there any way to disable this behavior?
View 3 RepliesI have the DLINK DWA-556 wireless PCIe adapter. And I want to install it using atheros drivers. However, when I uninstall then reboot, it keeps installing it by itself. I have already tried to disable the thing by going to Devices and Printers, then right clicking the device, and disabling the auto install. It does not work.Running on Windows 7 home premium x64.
View 5 Replies View RelatedWhen I plug in or unplug my external display to my laptop, my display options no longer automatically reconfigure as they used to do. Now if I unplug the monitor, Windows acts as if it's still there, and windows that were on the monitor stay offscreen (as does the cursor, if that's where it was). I can manually move the cursor back, right-click load graphics properties and make changes OR do an F-key combo to move everything back on the laptop screen OR program a hotkey but these are all pretty annoying for one reason or another. Unfortunately this must have started happening sometime in the last two weeks--at the same time as I made a load of major computer changes.
However this did NOT include a graphics driver change (my graphics driver is current). At this point I feel it could be anything, but I'm wondering if it could be a recent BIOS update I did that HP recommended. By way of troubleshooting I did run Windows in safe mode with ONLY the "ATI Catalyst" and "AMD External Events utility" running on top of the basic services, in case a newly installed service was stealing hotplugging messages, but that didn't do anything. I've also gone exhaustively through my graphics driver settings to make sure everything there looks correct.

View 7 Replies View RelatedSo Windows 7 has a feature that will auto-adjust the volume during video chatting. Seems like a good idea but in reality it just brings down the volume to a point to where I cant even hear the person. I have done some research on this but everything I could find said to go to Sound Settings -> Communications Tab -> and check the box that says "Do Nothing".I did this but it had no effect on Live Messenger. I downloaded Yahoo Messenger and it doesn't have this audio problem. I would much rather use Live Messenger because the video quality is MUCH better than other video chatting programs but I cant seem to get passed this problem.

It did have an ATI graphics card which used the PCIe slot, and a USB stick for wireless internet. The wireless stick wasn't working great so I've just got a wireless card installed, however it also uses PCIe and there is only one slot. As the computer is not being used for games, the wireless card is much more valuable to have in the slot.When I had the ATI card in there though I could use CCC to adjust the screen over slightly (there is about an inch cut off on the left side of the screen). It is not a spanning/stretching issue, merely just needs a nudge to the left and it will all be good.I have just installed Intel Control Center, but when I click on monitor/tv settings it says that they are not supported.There is no option to adjust this in the Windows 7 display options either, so I'm not quite sure what else to try.

I was delighted. I could order my icons just the way I needed them for my busy desktop. But then my water-cooled processor water pump broke and spilled water in my tower. I recently changed my BIOS boot order from the WD to the Seagate to see if I could still run XP. Turns out I can. My problem is that now I can't load Windows 7 back up on the other hard disk.Bear in mind that I have no other OS' loaded on any other partitions, and these HDDs are separate. The Seagate is IDE and the WD is Sata.I can load perfectly fine if I set the Seagate to load, but I get the infamous "Bootmgr is missing, Press Ctrl Alt Delete to restart" error msg when I try to boot win7.

This new version doesn't seem to have any, and just carries on writing right off towards the right into infinity. This makes copy harder to read as you have to keep scrolling along to the right as you're reading and if you have to edit what you've written you just end up with a mess. If you make the carriage return yourself it still doesn't work out right and you end up with twice as much editing. The old XP version of Notepad automatically made a carriage return at the right end of the page and was simple and straightforward to use.
View 3 Replies View Relatedso i have a blue yeti, and i'm an online animator/voice actor. whenever i record audio on my blue yeti (or any other mic) i record about 4-6 inches from the mic, and turn the gain down enough that the audio doesn't peak as i yell or whatever. this is what you're supposed to do if you don't want your audio levels peaking and making your recording sound horrible and corrupted. however, afterwards, it means i have really quite recordings. not a problem right? now that it's recorded right, i can boost the volume of the entire clip afterwards right? wrong. i'm not an audio expert so i must be missing something. but why in gods name would the audio distort and peak after it's recorded successfully? it's all there, it's all clean audio. if i turn the volume on my speakers all the way up it sounds crystal clear! all i want to do is do that inside the computer so that when i upload it to Internet people don't have to turn their speakers so far up. but if i increase the clips volume in the computer, it distorts! it sounds awful! why?! i tried in sony acid and audacity and they both do the same thing! i can take sound effects, and recordings made by other producers and crank them up nice and loud, but mine just fall apart!
View 2 Replies View RelatedI bought a Asus U36J laptop back in April of last year and ever since then I have been beating around an issue that I dont seem to be able to resolve one way or the other. When ever the laptop is on battery and in battery saving mode it has my taskbar on autohide. If I turn that off, then it stays off right until it is put back into battery saving mode at which point it is "magically" ticked on again.
Is there no way to simply disable that feature, as its annoying me greatly. I know its tied into the battery saving desktop, and I want to keep the battery saving desktop but want a full taskbar all the time. I found a supposed fix to make that happen, and while it actually makes the taskbar appear all the time, it still is a bad hack as any windows I have open wont "attach" to the taskbar but attaches to the buttom of the screen.
So for the love of god is there no sane way for me to keep the battery saving desktop but get rid of the autohiding taskbar. Otherwise I know Asus most likely wont be my laptop of choice next time aroumd.
I bought a USB A4 Tech HU-200 HeadPhone Its volume is quite high even when the windows volume is at 0, When its at max 100 it works like dedicated speakers Is there any way to reduce the volume beyond the lowest volume of windows 7?

I just received a new keyboard today: Thermaltake Challenger Ultimate. I went from a Logitech G15.
First thing I did was connect the keyboard and install the software that came along on the CD, it probably also installed the correct drivers. First after this did I uninstall the software and drivers from the old Logitech G15. But before that, and now after, the volume buttons on my new keyboard is still not adjusting the volume when I press them.
A speaker-icon like this shows up when I press the volume buttons, so its not that the keys are not working: (ignore the text behind it, its me writing an assignment)

Ive uninstalled and reinstalled the drivers from my mobo's disk and went through the realtek website and tried every driver I could find there. The system recognizes the speakers and shows them as putting out sound, but I get nothing. I've even ran through the BIOS to make sure nothing was amiss there.
