I have the DLINK DWA-556 wireless PCIe adapter. And I want to install it using atheros drivers. However, when I uninstall then reboot, it keeps installing it by itself. I have already tried to disable the thing by going to Devices and Printers, then right clicking the device, and disabling the auto install. It does not work.Running on Windows 7 home premium x64.

After that it completely works fine. When i bought the laptop it was working fine ,maybe CCleaner did something , i double checked the startup items, its enabled. I checked at MSCONFIG too ..enabled. Cant find anyhting wat to do.
View 8 Replies View RelatedMy grandfather called me yesterday and said the other day - his Dell Desktop automatically downloaded Sp1 and Sp2 and once it restarted - he could no longer connect to the internet. *Note - he is connected via a cable to the router* The computer shows he's connected to the router but it cannot connect to the internet.
He tried to use a "restore point" prior to the update, but they were all gone. There are 2 other computers connected to the internet and neither have any issues - one is connected via a cable and the other wireless.
I checked the settings on the router and modem and don't see any "stand-out" type issues. I'm not sure what else to do or check?
I try to install Windows 7 on acer aspire 5536 but when i get windows loading files or when i need to press any key to start up the windows install it just shutdown. Now it has vista installed. What could be the problem? On acer website it says that it's compatible with Windows 7

I have gone to the control panel and set it to autoplay all media as well as to autoplay install DVDs, but it doesn't make a difference. WIndows 7 Home Premium 64bit.

Included in the installation disk will be several ninite installers that will install the latest versions of programs needed for my department. After windows 7 installs and activates, when the user logs onto the computer he/she needs to be prompted with options to install either Essential List of Programs Suggested List of Programs Complete List of Programs Choosing any of the three options will run Ninite Installer associated with the option. For now the prompt will be implemented as a simple VBScript. I've managed to get the unattended activation and installation step working, but I'm stuck on the prompting step. Does anyone know any way to configure the installation CD to run a script as soon as the user logs onto the computer? In case you're wondering, I'm using VLite to help create the installation CD.

I am trying to boot from the DVD, with the Autounattend.xml file on a USB drive (Mushkin 8GB, light blinks when accessed, so I know it is being read from). I have also tried using the file name Unattend.xml per other suggestions.My Autounattend.xml file does not get recognized. No errors are shown, but I explicitly set the locale, language, etc., to US English (en-Us), but I am still prompted by the Windows 7 DVD to select these settings.

View 1 Replies View RelatedI recently purchased a lexmark printer and installed the driver and software. After installation I tried to import some pictures off of my sd card using the card reader on my laptop. previous to the lexmark software install I had several options for importing the picture, I usually chose "import using windows". Now that option is gone along with all other options (that I rarely used) and it has been replaced with the lexmark productivity center. I looked at my autoplay options and all the old options are still there for importing videos, but pictures have only productivity studio and general options.So I uninstalled the software and rebooted, the productivity option is gone, but the old ones have not returned.Lastly I tried to do a system restore, but it hangs up on initializing for hours and never completes.Any ideas on how to get my old autoplay options back? I assume it is a registry setting.

The SP1 was sitting in the Windows update notification. Is this normal?Also after manually installing SP1 (i.e. click OK in Windows update), some old updates started to pop up and asked to be installed. I suppose they were for the SP1. Is this normal?
View 9 Replies View RelatedI bought a Asus U36J laptop back in April of last year and ever since then I have been beating around an issue that I dont seem to be able to resolve one way or the other. When ever the laptop is on battery and in battery saving mode it has my taskbar on autohide. If I turn that off, then it stays off right until it is put back into battery saving mode at which point it is "magically" ticked on again.
Is there no way to simply disable that feature, as its annoying me greatly. I know its tied into the battery saving desktop, and I want to keep the battery saving desktop but want a full taskbar all the time. I found a supposed fix to make that happen, and while it actually makes the taskbar appear all the time, it still is a bad hack as any windows I have open wont "attach" to the taskbar but attaches to the buttom of the screen.
So for the love of god is there no sane way for me to keep the battery saving desktop but get rid of the autohiding taskbar. Otherwise I know Asus most likely wont be my laptop of choice next time aroumd.
I have Windows 7 Professional x64 and autoplay is set to play using Windows Media Player but DVD's, and CD's spin but nothing comes up on the screen or audio.
View 5 Replies View RelatedSmallish yet irritating problem with my Win 7 Ultimate 64-bit install - Autoplay doesn't work, and hasn't since I was forced to reinstall a couple of weeks back.Doesn't work for discs inserted, USB flash drives, memory cards, external HDDs plugged in etc (Firewire & ExpressCard/34 not tested). I have of course gone to the Autoplay settings and restored defaults, also tried setting every category (DVD, CD, etc) at "Ask me every time". No luck. I was working fine on the same OS before before I had to reinstall fresh, also on x86 version of Win 7, and on Vista.Nothing wrong with the USB ports/disc drive, inserted media is still detected.

View 7 Replies View RelatedI have a new Dell Precision T3400 which the Windows 7 Upgrade Advisor says I can run the 64 bit version of Windows 7 on.I am running XP pro 32 bit version on it. Dell told me I would need to run my 64 bit disc by hitting F12 when rebooting to boot to the disk. The computer then asks me if I want to run from my array or from a usb or cdrom. I choose the cdrom and then is says it cannot start from that drive or some such error. Dell and I did these things:made sure the dvd was an option as a boot drive in Setup.Updated the bios on the drive and the computer itself. this did not work so they replaced the dvd drive. It still will not boot the disk. I tried my xp disk, and the computer WILL boot from it. Dell said its the disk.
View 9 Replies View RelatedI have a new install of Windows 7 (OEM Home Premium). The PC formally was used for Windows XP. The hard drive became corrupted and I figured if I was going to replace the HD anyways, I may as well upgrade to Windows 7. Under XP I had no issues with the on board sound card. The install went very smoothly except for the sound. The Playback Devices screen only lists Digital Audio (HDMI) and Digital Audio (S/PDIF) as possible devices. I'm trying to enable ordinary speakers. I downloaded the Win7 version of the the ATI Hight Def Audio Device drivers (I was using the XP version before the corruption issue). They appear to install fine but after the reboot, there is no sign of the drivers anywhere.

Try to restore it but if you can't log into your OS through normal way or "last good configuration" doesn't work then what you might try Hitting/Pressing F8 & select Safe Mode to see if you can restore but still if issue not resolve then last resort re-install OS but if you don't have any of the above mentioned device then how to get OS installed again or let say you do have Recovery CD/DVD,external HDD but what if your ODD (DVD drive/Optical Disk Drive) not working & you don't have a USB on your old com then how to get this right without losing your Valuable data????Note: This will work if you have the Winodws7 setup folder copied onto your HDD.
