Did UNetbootin Installed Something Else
Apr 28, 2011
i just wanted to have a USB boot-able pen drive in case of emergency, and i found that the UNet booting software could take my image and put it into a USB stick, everything seems right but when i started the process i see the "Restart" option at the 4th stepmy problem question its quite simple.WHY?why it ask me to restart? i suspect that it wast created in order that just after you finish creating the boot-able USB restart to try it but why if i don't want, i just wanted to make a copy and to save the usb stick in a safe place and continue working but what is my fear about it? and what about if that intrusive software has made any modification in my system? because no necessarily the system i use to run the program is the system i need to boot from usb..and what about this?:the software webpage says:http://unetbootin. sourceforge.net/For the Hard Disk / "frugal install" mode, UNet booting uses a Windows or Linux-based installer to install a small modification to the boot loader (bootmgr and bcdedit on Vista, grldr and boot.ini for NT-based systems, grub.exe and config.system for Win9x, or GRUB on Linux, uses the boot loader to boot the desired distribution's installer or to load the system utility, no CD required. After the distribution has been installed, or once done using the system utility, the modification to the boot-loader is then undone.

Every now and then my WiFi stops working, and if I go to dev mgr, the General tab tells me that "No drivers are installed for this device" for device status. On the other tabs, however, I have all the details on the installed driver, and if I ask Windows to update the driver, it tells me that the best driver is already installed. The problem is solved by rebooting, but I find that annoying. I'd like to figure out WHY it does that. I've saved earlier versions of that particular driver from over the last three years, and the problem occurs with all of the drivers. This is a Windows 7 Ultimate 64-bit system. The driver is an Intel driver; the one installed at this moment (it just happened again, and I have not rebooted, since I had a powerline enet outlet handy), and the version of the Intel(R) WiFi Link 5100 AGN is 14.3.1. I have other versions of that driver saved, from 13.2.1.5 to 15.1.1_Ds64. I had reverted to the 14.3.1 because the more recent versions seemed to be worse about the driver disabling itself or whatever it is doing.Coincidentally with this, the event viewer shows that mmc.exe was terminated because it was hanging. I had just run sfc yesterday, and there are no corrupt files that Windows cannot fix, and there weren't even any corrupt files that it DID fix.

I have a pretty old Compaq Pressario that was running 2 512 MB sticks so I added 2 1 GB sticks today but it still shows it only utilizing 1 MB. I put the new sticks in the original slots and moved the old ones over so it is not an issue of installationI ran CPU-Z and all four sticks show up in the SPD tab but the 2 new ones only have values in the timings table under JEDEC #1, the 2 old ones have JEDEC #1, 2, and 3.

Ok this is a question I get when working on computers and the only recourse is an Operating System reinstall or in the case where I am advising someone on a heavy upgrade/new purchase. Me personally I don't really care why, I just need something simple to tell people when they ask me besides saying "Well you can't!"Why is it that when you reinstall Windows 7 or move from Windows XP (98,95 etc.) to Windows 7 (Vista, ya lets not go there) there is no way to keep your programs installed?

My motherboard is the ASUS Maximus III Formula, using Intel Core I5 760. And I recently did a dual boot on my system. One copy of Windows 7 Ultimate x64 on my original hard drive, and a Windows 7 Home premium x64 bit on another hard drive ( Hitachi ) and after a month or two, I had to format that ( Hitachi ) hard drive as I needed it for extra storage and now I'm getting only 2 Gb usable RAM but I installed 4Gb.

I have a Inspiron 1545 Dell that came with Windows Vista at first, but then I put in Windows 7 Ultimate and got rid of the Windows Vista Partition. What I want to do now is to put Windows 7 Ultimate back to when I first installed it, as in have it to where I just got done installing Windows 7 Ultimate. Is there a way I can reset the computer to where I will not need the CD or the serial key to do this, because I no longer have possession of the CD or key. I do not have System Restore points at that time or any backup of that time either. If I reset it will it reset to Vista? I do not want to go back to Vista I want to be able to keep Windows 7.

My PC says it has 4GB of RAM installed but only 3.5GB are usable, I have windows 7 home premium X64.
CPU: Athlon II x3 Unlocked to Phenom II X4 @3Ghz.
Motherboard: Asrock N68-VS3-UCC
RAM: 4GB DDR3 generic brand.
HDD: 1x 320GB SATA, 1x 250GB SATA and 1x 250GB IDE
GPU: XFX ONE 5400 series
PSUEM 500w PSU.
Windows recognized the full 4GB and the whole 4GB were usable but when I checked about 2 days ago it said that only 3.5GB were usable. I started to do a little research and I found out that my GPU might be using Hyper Memory so i tuned off my system, removed the GPU and when I went to see how much RAM was usable it said 4GB installed 3.25GB usable. So its not my GPU.

low computer knowledge person here and I have recently come into a problem after replacing my mobo/processor/gpu from my old computer. After hooking up the computer and booting it up, it hits the mobo screen then quickly goes into the black screen that says that windows 7 can not be started and gives me the two choices of system startup restore and start windows normally.
Starting windows normally unfortunately returns me to the black screen and so I tried out the restore but to no avail it was unable to fix my problem. Also, I was stupid enough to not transfer any files from my hard drive off to a backup.
My two questions are if it's possible for me to put my hard drive in a friends computer and take the files off there and also if there is any way to fix my hard drive after changing motherboards.
