View 7 RepliesMy motherboard is the ASUS Maximus III Formula, using Intel Core I5 760. And I recently did a dual boot on my system. One copy of Windows 7 Ultimate x64 on my original hard drive, and a Windows 7 Home premium x64 bit on another hard drive ( Hitachi ) and after a month or two, I had to format that ( Hitachi ) hard drive as I needed it for extra storage and now I'm getting only 2 Gb usable RAM but I installed 4Gb.

View 5 Replies View RelatedMy PC says it has 4GB of RAM installed but only 3.5GB are usable, I have windows 7 home premium X64.
CPU: Athlon II x3 Unlocked to Phenom II X4 @3Ghz.
Motherboard: Asrock N68-VS3-UCC
RAM: 4GB DDR3 generic brand.
HDD: 1x 320GB SATA, 1x 250GB SATA and 1x 250GB IDE
GPU: XFX ONE 5400 series
PSUEM 500w PSU.
Windows recognized the full 4GB and the whole 4GB were usable but when I checked about 2 days ago it said that only 3.5GB were usable. I started to do a little research and I found out that my GPU might be using Hyper Memory so i tuned off my system, removed the GPU and when I went to see how much RAM was usable it said 4GB installed 3.25GB usable. So its not my GPU.
My computer's memory was 2GB and i added 4GB more, but only 2GB is usable. I have tried many time take the Ram out and put it back but i still have the same problem.
View 9 Replies View RelatedI have also checked the BIOS . but there is no place where i can dissble " Dram over 4Remapp" or something like that.
everything i can think of i have checked.
I know 32bit can't handle more than 2 or 3GB memory, but it can handle 2gb, that much i know.
when i start my computer. it show 1024mb ram . that counts that up. but in everything else it shows 2GB bit 1 usable.
and it says that 1024mb is hardware reserved, ( maybe it is that ? how do i change that ?
I have run a test. nothing wrong with either of the memory sticks
I also have seperat graphic card with 512BM Ram on.
Okay so i have a Quad core x6850 Intel CPU, EVGA 280GTX GPU CARD.
Now i installed window 7 x86 bit version ULTIMATE. And i have 6GB DDR3 RAM INSTALLED INTO MY geforce Nforce 790i motherboard. Now the problem is that in Windows 7 it shows "Installed Memory: 6.00GB (2.75 GB Useable)". But in Bios it shows me that 6gigs in installed.
Now does that mean it is WIN 7 that is just reading my DDR3 RAM WRONG? But i am still getting the full performance for all of my 6GB DDR 3 RAM? Since my bios is reading all of the 6GB RAM?
Also i tried doing what other forums indiated i should be doing like type config and check mark or uncheck mark MAX MEMORY. Tried doing that, but noting happened.
Now the only thats left and i am having confusion with is, some people are saying i should Enable Memory remapping in bios? I have a nforce 790i motherboard, and i can't find that exactly in my bios mode. Is there any other way to fix this problem?
I have 4gb RAM on the Dell XPS 1530 machine.
I installed Windows 7 64 bit from on two partitions.
The first one, a fresh install, Computer Properties shows 4gb RAM, the same value (4096) is also showed in Task Manager.
The second one, I upgraded from Vista 64 bit, it shows 4gb RAM (2usable), the same (2048) is showed in Task Manager.
I heard the story about Memory Remap, my mainboard didn't have it. However, the first case, it automatically recognize 4gb RAM, I guess Windows7 manages everything. Is there anyway I 'turn on' the rest 2gb in the second case?
Earlier tonight I rebooted and noticed that it took an extremely long time to boot. Almost 10 minutes to get the desktop completely loaded. So I checked task manager > performance tab and it says I have only 256mb of RAM. So then I checked My Computer > Properties and noticed it said "Installed Memory (RAM): 4.00 GB (256 MB Usable)" I've had Windows 7 installed for a good 2 weeks now and never had a problem, until I rebooted tonight. I checked my BIOS and all my sticks show up. I DO NOT have a shared memory video card. Memory test checked out fine. I haven't installed any new hardware, nor touched the sticks at all. why Windows 7 started doing this?

View 3 Replies View RelatedFor some odd reason, my new Windows 7 32 bit laptop is constantly using 40+ precent of it's installed RAM. I checked my computer's properties and found that Windows is only using 2.84 gigs of my computer's 4 gigs of ram. Is there any way I can force it to use 4 gigs? Or at least, force it to use more than my current amount? I have attached a screenshot of my computer's RAM specs.

Since then it has started crawling along, I have noticed that it says 3gb ram 1 gb usable. is this something that I need to go into the bios for? I ran the memory diagnostic tool this morning but did not get to see a report.
View 3 Replies View RelatedI have quite a new ASUS laptop, which came with 64bit windows 7 and I took off and installed my copy of Windows 7 32bit (I didn't see the point in having 64bit on a laptop).
When I first installed the OS and everything Windows said I had 3.25GB ram usable or something like that which is normal but for some reason I now only have 2.92 usable and I don't know why >.< (this may have happened when SP1 was installed)
The specs are:

can i use FuLLY of may RAM ?
Okay, this is really weird. Previously, I had had a ordered a kit of 4GB ram with one defective stick. After installing Windows 7 Ultimate 64bit with the good stick, I RMA'd the kit back to newegg. The exchange arrived today, and after installing the new kit of ram, windows only recognizes 3.26GB of it! Under the system information panel, it says:
Installed memory (RAM): 4.00 GB (3.26 useable)
despite me having a 64 bit OS.
Whats up with this? I Memtested the ram and it shows up as only 3255 MB in there also.
Does anyone know why?
decided to install hardware with my computer on and i sliped while putting a pci card in and hit su,tin that booted off my computer. now when i got it back on i have this message in my system properties "4.00 GB installed (3.25 GB usable)" anyone know hot to fix this. im using windows 7 ultimate X64. i think i may have either hit the GPU or a capacitor?

View 6 Replies View RelatedI have installed windows 7 64 bit version on new computer with a 64 bit processor Quad CPU Q8200 233 ghz , I have 4x2gb of DDR2 800 RAM 8gb in total all are same frequency but it lists only (3.19 gb usable) after the 8gb in computer properties.
why isnt windows 7 accessing all my RAM as this is why I moved to 64 bit ?
I have 6144mb of ram on my Compaq Presario CQ62 402AU. So I have the 2GB Hp stick which came with the laptop (2GB DDR3 1066MHz) and I have a 4GB stick from G-Skill). So there should be 5.76GB usable, but I only have 1.74GB usable. This is what is it when I only had the 2GB. The Bios says there is 6144GB in there. Windows says there 6.0GB in there also.
So what I have tried:
- Running Mem Tests (HP one which came with my laptop and Memtestx86)
- Taking out the ram and putting them in there sorts again
- Taking out the ram, running a pencil eraser over the connecters and then putting them back in
- Doing testing so Only 1 is in and try that in both slots for both sticks of ram
- Swapping the ram positions
- Making sure that Max ram is not selected in Msconfig
So basic System info you may want to know (Most of my profile info is there of my computer) Windows 7 Home Premium 64-Bit SP1 Installed Memory (Ram) (This is from the basic system info page) 6.00GB (1.74GB Usable). The odd thing is that it worked fine for a while. Today I went to school with the 5.76GB and I come back home 8 hours later, the computer has only been on lock for this time and there is only 1.76GB usable.

Windows 7 reports only 3.25 being usable. i have a dedicated video card an my onboard one is definitely disabled. my BIOS reports 4096MB RAM detected. max memory and CPU are unchecked in msconfig. from looking at the resource monitor i see that 770MB of RAM is labeled as hardware reserved memory.also i don't know if my BIOS supports a memory remap feature or not but even if it does its a locked HP BIOS so most setting are inaccessible.is there any way to get my full memory? or does anyone know why this is happening on a 64-bit os?
