View 3 Replies View RelatedI recently switched from Vista to 7 (Clean install) and Moderwarfare 1 played fine with vista, however I now get an error when trying to run moder warfare 1, "The program can't start because d3dx9_34.dll is missing"I know 7 uses dx11 which, just like every other directx version, is backwards compatible with the other versions, and I would assume especially 9. I've reinstalled moderwarfare, that didn't work.
View 9 Replies View RelatedI just got a computer for free, a Dell Studio 1555. When I got it, it would try to boot, then come to a screen that said that bootmgr.exe was missing. Sometimes I got a message that said something like mpio.sys was corrupted or missing. I have a Win 7 disk, so I put it in and tried to repair the installation. Each time I ran it, it said that the repair had failed. I tried to reinstall windows 7, and It made it to the first restart in the process. It showed the "Starting Windows" screen, but the colors of the windows logo never appeared, then I got the missing bootmgr screen. I decided to install Ubuntu and see if that worked, and it did (I installed it alongside the Windows installation). It was Ubuntu 10.04. I thought, "OK, so i'll just use this as a Linux machine"...and I decided to go back and reinstall so that I could use the entire hard drive. It never worked correctly again. Each subsequent time that I installed Ubuntu, I was told something along the lines of "Gnome Power Manager did not install correctly" and got a slow and choppy Ubuntu installation.Tried to install 11.10, and it failed completely. I opened the Ubuntu live from my usb drive, and opened the disk utility. I now cannot format, reformat, partition, or delete partitions on the drive. Is all of this just a case of a hard drive on its last legs, or is there something else going on here?
View 1 Replies View RelatedOk i have windows 7, Recently i have found out that i have a full list of errors that happened pretty much overnight:Here's the list 1. I can't go onto Control Panel It say's " This operation has been canceled due to restrictions in effect on this computer. Please contact your system administrator" I AM THE ADMIN.. I am the only account too. 2. My Task bar is missing, When i go ctrl-alt-del i see no option to open up my task bar. [FIXED] 3. I cant RIGHT click on anything on my desktop, as well as my folders and stuff. Although i can right click while playing games or browsing the internet, so my mouse is definitely not broken. So u must be thinking, this guy has a virus for sure... Well if i do have a virus it must be made by ******* Bill Gates. Because i can't find it.I have the FULL version of Trend Micro Cillin as well as Norton 360, I've just recently downloaded Malvare Bytes, and that couldn't find anything as well. I've done a full system scam on both anti-virus programs, i see no viruses. I did get a virus a week ago, but Norton quickly picked it up, I'm thinking it may have changed a few settings in my computer before i managed to delete it.

View 3 Replies View RelatedMy setup had an MBR issue a few days ago after installing Skyrim. I was unable to repair it using the windows 7 instal disc. I tried the automatic fix as well as bootrec.exe. After giving up and reinstalling a fresh windows 7, my rig has not been starting up properly. It insists on waking up from sleepwhen it was shutdown, i.e. Not sleeping. Well after a few days of this with no other problems, bootmgr can't be found again. Now, when I load the repair disc, it can't find my OS to even try a bootrec.exe on. But, when i go to load drivers the explorer window allows me to browse my c:/ drive and the installation is there. I would prefer to fix rather than reinstall due to a symantec DRM issue.
Windows 7 is on a 60 gb raid 0 setup (I know, i know, i deserve this for running raid 0)
I've had this laptop handed to me after my friend's son tried to restore using the supplied restore disk, but it failed. Not having the win 7 disk, only the restore, I ran ntfs for dos and there are no files on the hard drive anymore. It shows 3 partitions, one of about 400 and 2 of 40000MBs.I tried to install winxp but it begins to load the files gets to the windows loader (splash) screen then I get the BSOD and the system gives the message that there is a error and windows is stopped from loading.I thought I would reformat the drive, then repartition, then load win xp, but I can't get beyond the windows splash screen.I tried bart pe but that wouldn't load, I also tried ultimate boot cd

View 2 Replies View RelatedI don't know what happened, but when I turned on my PC this morning I found out that the following fonts are missing from the Windows/Fonts directory: Arial, Tahoma, Times New Roman. Maybe others are missing also, but I can't tell. Everything is Italic and/or Bold.So my questions are:
01. Why is this happening?
02. What happened with the missing fonts?
03. How could this be fixed?
04. What is the default font and size for Windows 7?
05. Where can I change it?
I have 3 physical hard drives, we'll call them A, B, and C. Hard Drive A has a partition for Windows 7, a NTFS partition for storage, a EXT3 (Linux), and swap (Linux). Hard Drive B has 1 NTFS for storage. Hard Drive C has 1 NTFS for storage. I am trying to replace Hard Drive B (with nothing related to Windows 7 on it) and when I try to boot into Windows with my new blank drive installed I get "NTLDR is missing." From what I've read NTLDR was only used up to Windows XP. The drive I am trying to remove isn't even associated with Windows 7 anyway. When I put Drive B back in everything works fine again. why I cant remove drive B even though it has nothing to do with the physical or logical drive containing Windows 7?
View 4 Replies View RelatedRunning Win7 and certain programs do not display options. For example... if I run msconfig.... it pops up but there's nothing there... just a blank GUI... If I try to install a program... the install wizard pops up... but it's just a blank GUI... same with Task Manager. I can run CMD though. I tried to run a Outlook export and the export wizard is also just a blank GUI. And then in Chrome when I try to browse websites it's like 90% of the CSS doesn't work. I think I might have a virus but Kaspersky couldn't find any issues... I also tried some online scanners. I want to install some more serious software but I can't get through the wizards because the options don't exist.
View 3 Replies View Relatedhave a Samsung NP-QX411 Laptop running Windows 7 Home Premium 64-bit. About two days ago or so some of my dialogs started missing text. (See attached images.)It's not just Windows related dialogs that are missing text. Some of my programs, such as Team Viewer and Advanced System Care, are also missing text while others such as Malwarebytes are not. Also, some Windows dialogs such as Task Manager and System restore are missing text but others such as Device manager are not.I have tried updating all my display drivers directly from the Samsung website but nothing seems to be working. Since replacing Windows 7 Release Candidate (build 7100) 32 bit with Windows 7 Professional 32 bit purchased from windows7.digitalriver.com I no longer have Microsoft Virtual WiFi Miniport Adapter displayed in my list of network connections. The computer I use is a HP Pavilion dv6439nr Notebook PC. I did a clean install of Windows 7 Professional.Microsoft Virtual WiFi Miniport Adapter had been displayed in my list of network connections when I had Windows 7 Release Candidate (build 7100) installed. Although it sounded interesting I was not all that concerned about vwifi because there seemed to be almost no information about actually using it. Then I found out about the app Connectify and I would really like to use it.I have used Driver Magician Lite to backup both my Windows 7 Release Candidate drivers and my Windows 7 Professional drivers. Microsoft Virtual WiFi Miniport Adapter is included in the Release Candidate drivers, but is not present in the Professional drivers. I have tried right clicking on the Microsoft Virtual WiFi Miniport Adapter setup file netvwifimp.inf and selecting Install but I get an error message that says "The INF file you selected does not support this method of installation"Windows 7 Release Candidate was supposed to be the Ultimate Edition of Windows 7, but from what I have read vwifi is supposed to be in all Windows 7 versions. Perhaps vwifi was disabled in my particular 32 bit student edition, which seems unlikely BUT not impossible considering that Windows games were disabled by default. Perhaps it's a driver problem, but why would the Release Candidate have worked but not the Professional version now.

Is there something in the bios or beforehand I should have done? I have the new vid card in cause my old one is no longer working, that wouldn't cause anything, would it?
