I recently restarted my computer and I have a problem where all the text of desktop icon labels, and while starting windows you know how it says "Welcome", It doesnt say that, only shows the loading cursor. When I click on the start button, it doesn't work, so that I could do a system restore
All the text are gone, the text is changed to times new roman at firefox, and i can't see what I am typing in the nagivation bar in firefox.
One morning, my firefox would hangup and crash when opening some website. I would then forcefully shut it down and restart it and it would hang again if I would restore the old pages. I thought to update firefox and I got the option to update from v3.6 to v4.0.
When I updated, the pages that would hangup the browser would now open, but with text not appearing. I cannot remember those websites specifically now that all of them open in the latest version. But one link I remember is this: Dialog box buttons/text is missing and Microsoft management - Microsoft Answers
This link would hangup the browser v3.6, But after update to v4.0, it now opens but appears like in the screenshot bellow: (Notice the text in search box and bellow the post)
Apart from this, I notice this text missing in some dialog boxes like - when saving files in some applications, and also during installations of Programs, Screenshot examples bellow:
I recently reformatted my PC and have noticed that areas which properly supported Unicode beforehand no longer do. For example, although Unicode text shows correctly in the majority of Windows Explorer, when I right click on files to view the properties the text field that shows the file name isn't rendering it correctly. This also propagates into some parts of other applications which previously had Unicode support, such as Winamp. I have a vast collection of East Asian music so this is more than a minor inconvenience for me.
Please find the below screen shots to demonstrate what I am seeing: For comparison, here is the same file being displayed properly on my Laptop:
I currently have an issue with my PC where all the text under desktop icons and dialogue boxes is missing, and instead there is a mumbo jumbo of lines and misshapen boxes in control panel, so its impossible for me to try and do anything. I tried doing /sfc scannow in a cmd prompt, but it told me I do not have administrative privileges when I was logged in on my admin account. This happened after I had to boot into safe mode when some windows updates were installed previously. After they were removed, the BSOD remained, but I managed to log on by using 'Boot using last known good configuration'. I have also tried using a system restore point to before the updates were installed but to no avail. Start up repair also drew a blank and I can't think of anything else to do.
the new text document is missing when I right click on the desktop. I've read all the relevant posts here in this forum and downloaded many .reg files but none of them works. The shellnew key exists and everything else looks good but the new text document option is just missing!
So for a while, windows updates have been causing BSODs on my PC, usually I just go and remove them via safe mode and all is well again. Well last night, after doing that, my PC BSOD'd and on rebooting found that several things were bad. First, the start orb didn't work and I couldn't pull up the start menu. All the text is gone from my desktop icons, the date and time is missing, all the items within control panel and My computer are a jumbled mess of random lines and boxes, so that means I cannot do anything in Windows explorer or control panel. This happens even within safe mode. So far, I have tried doing a system restore, sfc /scannow, startup repair and rebooting in last known good configuration. Nothing I've tried has been successful in solving this issue. About the only thing I can do on my computer is use the web browser and type blindly in the address bar, since all the text is also gone from the top of tabs and the address bar
I run Windows 7. My email account is Hotmail accessed through Windows Live Hotmail. When I reply to an email by using the "reply" function (where the sender's text is included) both my text, which I type in above the sender's text, and the sender's text somehow disappear and I end up sending a blank email - which I only find out when I check my Sent Messages or when the recipient queries the blank text! This doesn't happen every time. Does anyone know how to sort this out?
Ok this is wierd I have a client using Office 2007 pro and some of her docs that she recently updated and the problem is when she prints the docs text that she deleted is printing over the top of new text she inserted into the doc.
Now when you have said doc open in WORD the deleted text is not there in any view and does NOT show in "print preview".
I opened said doc with WORDPAD and the deleted text shows up at the bottom so its still in the word doc somewhere imbedded so it prints over the top of the actual text in the doc.
I have a project where I need to search a large amount of text files on my home PC. I recently upgraded from Windows XP to Windows 7. My research indicated this feature was available in Windows 7.
If you do a search in Windows XP, you get a bunch of fields. You can pick to search for text INSIDE the particular sub folder structure.
I have found this feature in Windows 7, but it is different. I have tried using wild cards but it does not seem to work properly.
All of the sudden, when I want to copy and paste something in the same document, the formatted text (whether that be a certain font or bold) does not transfer over to the pasted text. For instance, if I wanted to copy the following bolded word word and then paste it anywhere else in the document, I now get this: word (without the bold). This applies to other cutting and pasting problems: this applies to other fonts and formatting (bold, my Greek font, etc). One more example: before today, if I wanted to cut a text out of my New Testament Greek program right in the middle of a paragraph, the Greek font (or whatever font) would paste normally no matter what font the target MS Word text was in.
I am running windows 7 pro x32 and I rebooted my computer last night, and there was no text anywhere. I couldn't click the start menu, right click on anything or basically do anythibg to rectify the problem. After an afternoon of internet searching I found that the only solution seemed to be to run sfc /scannow in cmd, and I tried this both in safe mode and ordinary mode but to no avail, although this seemed to work for lots of other people. I even tried reinstalling windows using my dvd copy of the disk using the upgrade feature, which is what you are supposed to do, but had the error that I was upgrading to a lower version, which is apparently because my dvd does not have sp1 installed. I can not download any new disk images as I am posting off my iPod, and have no other way of doing anything technical. I need my computer for homework and other stuff, which I can't do. I do however, have some Ubuntu disks,
let me begin by saying that I am completely new to this forum as well as I am a new user of Windows 7. My laptop was running a Vista OS but it was acting up horribly, so I decided to simply install Windows 7 and it's working pleaI am one for typing and creating a mass amount of text documents and such on which was Microsoft Works that came installed on my Vista. I no longer have any Microsoft Works, or Microsoft Office for that matter, so I can't type besides on Notepad and I would rather not. I tried to install Open Office but it wouldn't install for whatever reason and I am stuck again.
I regularly use my acer aspire 5552 ati 4250. I have norton antivirus installed but somehow more over I have a virus. It takes approximately 45 minutes for the laptop to go to the start up page, but there is no text. When it loads up to a stage I can put on the Internet I can input text into google but again, this takes a long period of time. When I press (e.g.) ALT + F the tiniest of drop down bar appears and I cannot access anything on there, this happens with anything related to right clicking to using shortcuts as things are not viewable.
Furthermore, the laptop is in safe mode at the moment and I cannot access windows or due to the fact I cannot access drop down menus or control panels as there is no text
One big issue for me in Windows 7 after XP is that text in browser windows (like in IE9, Firefox and Thunderbird) lacks contrast - it's a pale grey rather than the black I had in the same apps in XP. Actually this text is pale grey as I type it.This seems to be "global" and no amount of fiddling in the apps themselves does any good. There was never any problem in XP.I'm using an Aero theme, but I've tried a basic theme and tried chaning the window colours manually.
A new entry with the name ClearType Text Tuner is available in the Windows 7 Control Panel. Previous operating systems provided users with an on and off switch for ClearType but no configuration options beyond that. Microsoft Powertoys provided access to a ClearType Tuner which provided access to a wizard that would walk the user through the process of optimizing the ClearType display. It seems that this wizard has now been integrated into Windows 7.The Wizard will display several screens with 2-6 identical text displays that make use of different ClearType settings asking the user to pick the one best suited for his computer monitor. There is still no possibility to set a specific value but it should improve text display on the computer quite a bit.+
If I try to grab text in a website window and move the mouse down while keeping the mouse Left button depress, the window will not scroll upward. I have to manually press the down arrow key to continue my text grab or selection. Can this be reversed?
I had no problems with windows or anything, everything was fine, until this morning when i started computer and in Google Chrome marking text became nightmare, either it isnt marked at all, or it just mark last couple of letters on last word...sometimes even pressing back or forward button isnt recognized, or any other button on browser btw when i booted win this mornin' i got updated flash player. And then i tried to mark text in windows= SAME THING.
I did several thing before restarting and seeing this glitch: Removed KIS completely, registry cleaner, junk file cleaner, reinstalled KIS.At first, there was a glitch with windows gadgets too, but I found out this solution: Vista Sidebar Gadgets Broken - Vista Forums and it fixed my gadgets too. The problem was similar, expect I could not see the background of the weather gadget.I have a few pictures to better describe the problem: - Fixed - Current Glitch - Current Glitch - Current Glitch As you can see, the text it's present in the y!messenger window ... but not in PM windows nor the archive.I remember that I had this problem in Vista and XP too ... in XP I had to reinstall the OS ... deleting Windows directory and leaving the rest. I don't recall to have found a solution to this then ... but it was only the yahoo thing. I don't remember having the same problem with some installers.I've used other installers after the problem appeared and they looked and performed as normal. This error seems to affect only y!mess and a particular type of installers. Everything else seems to function properly.I did a SFC scan. It found no problems at all. That's why I think it can be fixed without having to reinstall windows 7 or using the backup image.
I just bought a new HP laptop (I'm heading off to college, and my custom desktop really won't fit in a dorm room) and I'm trying to get it set up in the same way that my home PC is configured. But when I turned on the laptop, I found that the text is slightly enlarged in some places--especially in Firefox, in right-click menus, and in some programs. I am guessing that this is due to certain programs not being 64-bit compatible, but frankly I have no idea (I'm transitioning from 32-bit to 64-bit). I haven't changed around any of the text size settings on either computer, although the desktop is 1920x1200 and the laptop is 1920x1080, if that might cause it..
A photo editing programme that was fine in XP has overlapping instruction bars and small pale text in some areas to the point of being illegible. I've just down loaded another one and it is similar. Could this be some sort of formatting problem? XL customer files were really bad but I finally got on top of that by formatting.
I try to use the Windows diagnostic tools etc, system restore, command prompt, memory test and when I choose say system restore, no text is shown in the dialogue box. Again no text is shown in other dialogue boxes that pop up.
After recently switching to Windows 7 from xp after doing a reformatting on my hard drive, text and pictures look blurry and hard to read. I have gotten all the drivers for my monitor and video card as well. My current resolution is 1680x1050 and is the native resolution for my monitor. I honestly have no idea what happened since I've never had these problems on xp before.
Whenever I try to boot my computer the "welcome" message on the start up does not appear. The graphics appear to be changed a little, but can successfully login to my account . The desktop icons are displayed without the corresponding descriptive text for example I can see computer icon but not the "My computer" tag same with all icons. Right clicking on anything pops up a menu without text just a white box. Clicking activity never works and the system just crashes with a blue screen or a blank screen in few seconds. The issue started after I ran sfc/scanow command through command promt. I got several errors in system files which it fixed but not for the good(apparently the tool suppose to help users got me in trouble). Subsequent attempts yielded no errors. safe mode just displays windows icon , nothing else. Some history: I have previously used several theme softwares which tweak the system files but uninstalled it later. I tried to repair the installation using the DVD but it couldn't find any problems. Also the DVD is without servive pack 1 and I have Windows 7 SP1. couldn't uninstall SP1 through command line it just pops a blank white screen I have lots of engineering software tools I use for my college work so cannot afford a disk clean up as I don't have installation dvd's and cannot afford another student's licence.
I have a Konica Minolta bizhub c250 connected to a linksys router, up until about a week ago everything worked fine, how ever all of a sudden the windows 7 machine (desktop) i use to print to the bizhub suddenly stopped printing from the internet and mS office 2010, however it still printed pictures just no text, and if the .doc was text only it just printed 3 thin black lines two at the top and one at the bottom. Whats odd is that test pages print fine from said computer, Notepad prints text just fine, but i can not get the machine to print text from ms office 10 or anything off the internet, even after a reinstall, i can print to the bizhub just fine from ms office 2010 on 3 laptops running windows 7 on 2 and vista on 1, it was odd however, a file made on affected desktop when transferred to the vista laptop the laptop began displaying the same peculiar problem, i have run: malwarebytes, spybot search and destroy, ccleaner, AVG, comodo antivirus, nod 32, esset online scanner, combofix... several others ... and i ran hijack this and went over the log with a fine tooth comb and found nothing out of ordinary operating.
