"Could Not Initialize Graphics System. Make Sure That Your Video Card And Driver Are Compatible With DirectDraw"

Nov 17, 2010

i've come across Age of Empires 2 and AoC expansion and want to play them, however get a graphics system error."Could not initialize graphics system. Make sure that your video card and driver are compatible with DirectDraw"

My specs are:

Dell Inspiron 545
Operating System: Windows 7 Home Premium 64bit,
Processor: Intel(R) Core(TM)2 Quad CPU Q8300 @2.50GHz
Memory: 6.00GB
Graphics Card: ATI Radeon HD 4350

- I've tried to right click the shortcut and change the compatability to XP server pack 2, run as administrator, updated my graphics card drivers and downloaded the latest directX 11 from the Microsoft Website.

Windows 7 Compatible Video Card/driver?

Dec 27, 2011

I have a Dell Optiplex G520 and I, unfortunately, am running Windows 7 on it. Since installing Windows 7 I have had problems with my video card. Certain websites will not recognize my video card or say it's outdated. However, I had no problems whatsoever while I was running Windows XP. Is there a driver I can install to fix it, or does anyone know of a good graphics card I can buy that will be compatible with both my computer and Windows 7?

EVGA GTX 260 Video / Graphics Card Driver Error

Apr 14, 2009

i just bought a new video card (EVGA GTX260) yesterday and installed it and played with it with no problem....(one day later)......until now so basically here what happens now. when i boot up it goes through the "starting up" phase and when the window 7 says "Welcome" after that i just get a blue screen, no word no picture just blue!

So i press the reset button and i am only able to go to my desktop menu by safe mode! and if i try to go through "start up computer regular" it would just lead me to the blue plane screen....

The reason why i think it is the driver is because in safe mode i am able to uninstall my nvidia driver. Restart and WOW i am back to my "REGULAR" desktop menu but with no driver. SO as soon as i am on my screen Window 7 wants install the newly detected video card's drivers for me and i do. when i restart BAM! back to the blue screen..

My motherboard manual says i have a "PCI express" video card slot. but it doesn't say if 1.0 or 2.0 or 3.0. I'm assuming it's 1.0 because the motherboard is a bit old and the video card as well(Nvidia geforce 7300 se/7200 gs) If i'm right and it's a PCI-e 1.0 motherboard, what video card can be compatible with it? 1.0 or 2.0 or 3.0? Is Hd Video Card 4650 Compatible With Win7?

Nov 26, 2009

I installed a Radeon ATI XFX HD 4650 PCI, 2DDR, 1gig, video card into my vista desktop 3 months ago, and it worked perfectly. I only needed it to run 2 mintors a dvi and a vga. Yesterday I attempted to install Windows 7 and both screens went black. The device manager was unable to locate any video cards at all (the original had been removed).

I called Dell, and they told me that the card was not recognized, and therefore not compatible with "7". Then I called Radeon, and they said it was definitely compatible. The bottom line is I had to do a system restore to get back to Vista where all worked well again. i really need "7".

Could Graphics Card Be Crashing The System

[URL] These have continued and recently come to a head when trying to play Assassins Creed 2. It freezes the minute the game loads and I just get white noise from the speakers & have to hard reset the system.I'm not getting any BSOD's - the whole system just hangs.I'm just wondering whether (seeing as the ESTools came back clean) it's my graphics card that is causing the problem (and whether AC2 is triggering it?), but don't know how to check?

BSOD With Install Of Intel Graphics Driver Or Install Of Graphics Card

Jul 19, 2012

I've completed a new custom build, but have had problems with BSOD from the beginning with any installation of Intel Graphics drivers or the installation of any graphics card.

When I first completed the build, the XFX-7950 Black was installed. I booted to BIOS without issue, but when I inserted the Windows 7 (64 bit) it would boot through the windows logo screen but immediately BSOD right after going to the first install screen.

I removed the graphics card, and was able to complete the full Windows install without issue. I updated Windows and the drivers on the system but as soon as I installed the Intel 3000 Graphics driver, it would BSOD on every restart. I recovered back prior to the Graphics driver install and installed all other drivers. I updated the BIOS to the latest version.

I have reattempted the XFX 7950 multiple times in different slots, but with the same results. I also attempted my Radeon HD 4550 from my old computer but it gave the same results. It always boots through the Windows logo screen, but BSOD within a few seconds of reaching the password screen.

I broke down and installed Driver Whiz, which did detect multiple outdated drivers that I had not caught, but none of these fix the issues.

I've attached the requested zip. I don't think all BSOD's are showing up, as I've had to use recovery points after installed drivers didn't work. The last .dmp on 19 JUL was a Intel Graphics driver install attempt that I pulled off in safe mode before recovering back to the pre-driver point.

Sound Card Is Not Working Properly Because A Compatible Driver Is Not Available For This Version Of Windows

According to the Device Manager "Your sound card is not working properly because a compatible driver is not available for this version of Windows." (I'm running Win7). My sound card is a SoundMAX Integrated Digital Audio. I have tried several SoundMAX drivers (found online) that said they were compatible but they don't work either.

Graphics Card Picture Quality And Video Quality?

Aug 18, 2012

I'm having problems with my the graphics card on my laptop. It's an APU and I have picture and videos problems. Whenever I watch movies or look at pictures I see most things fuzzy, (if that makes any sense). I tried to watch a DVD and the video quality was unbearable. The most unbelievable thing is it affects picture quality. I can't do anything without poor quality pictures or videos. I have tried installing new drivers and all sorts of things. Is it me or is it my laptop?

My Laptop Specs:

AMD A6 Quad Core APU 1.5Ghz
AMD Radeon HD 6520G
6GB DDR3 Memory 1066Mhz
Windows 7 Home Premium 64bit
