I've been trying to connect my kindle to wifi by turning my laptops wifi card into a hotspot. The kindle doesn't support peer-to-peer networks so the ad hoc option obviously failed. However two people where able to make it work on a iMac: Connecting Kindle 3 to a MacBook wifi network - kindle Discussion Forum
by configuring the kindle to these settings:
IP 10.0.2.2
Subnet 255.255.255.0
Router 10.0.2.1
DNS 10.0.2.1
Can this be done on windows 7? If not will it work if I do it on windows server 2008 r2 via creating a dhcp server?
My computer used to connect perfectly to wifi. Then I tried setting up an access point through my laptop, using netsh commands, and now it won't connect at all. When I boot to Ubuntu however, it works fine
A friend gave me a usb stick with Kindle ebooks on it, I made a new folder in documents the dragged & dropped a number of book titles from the usb stick to my laptop new folder. I then ejected the usb stick, clicked on new folder in documents, connected my kindle & tried to download the ebooks to my kindle. When I thought I had finished I tried to find the books on my Kindle, nothing there. Went to documents ,clicked on new folder & was told folder empty. As the books on the usb stick had dissapeared, where did they go?
I have Windows 7 home and have run into a bit of an issue. I have a program on my computer that runs through the internet. At my home, it connects fine and I am able to run it without any issues, but I go to school and connect to their WiFi and it stalls on the connecting prompt. Everything else I run and the internet works fine, I have re-installed the program and made sure it wasn't blocked from public access on firewall.
I am having problems connecting to wifi when abroad I have been using Vista on my laptop and last year there was not a problem but this year I was in France for 7 weeks and nearly evertime I tried to connect (using the appropriate password and getting full strenth wifi it would not connect, it kept stating that it was identifying and would not connect, so I would try fiddling about with various settings and sometimes it would connect. There was times when I could not get on and the people all around were connected. So fed up with this happening all the time I bought a new notebook and was in Spain last week and I still could not get connected with all the same things happening as with my old laptop.I was in France for 7 weeks and nearly evertime I tried to connect (using the appropriate password and getting full strenth wifi it would not connect, it kept stating that it was identifying and would not connect, so I would try fiddling about with various settings and sometimes it would connect. I am an owner of a dell studio 17 laptop. It was pre installed with windows vista, 2 days back I upgraded my laptop to windows 7 ultimate x64. Since then I am unable to connect to my internet.
i have two laptops at home. i want to share files with them using the Wi-FI. i created an ad-hoc network and was able to share files but the thing was that the speed of the transfer is very slow around 700 Kbps. Is there a way i can improve the speed?
Currently I am using a Dell laptop with XP which is connected to my house's wireless connection. SSID itself is an open WEP. I had no problem connecting with the XP laptop; it asked me for a password, I put it in and it worked. When I try connecting with my other Dell laptop with Windows 7, it won't ask me for a password and say, "Windows was unable to connect to _____."
I then tried manually connecting to the wireless connection under the network settings. I've tried all WEP options and made sure the password was correct countless times and still I'm unable to connect to the wifi.
I spoke with a Dell representative, but all they suggested was to pay for another help service.
I have two operating systems installed on my Sony Vaio VPCF115FG, Windows 7 Home Premium and Windows 8 Consumer Preview.
Wi-Fi is working fine on both, however, LAN connections are only working on Windows 8 but not Windows 7. It reads the LAN connection in Windows 7 but it does not actually connect to the internet. I honestly tried everything, including uninstalling the LAN driver and reinstalling it, no use.
1st, sorry for my English, I'm french and I'm not really good in IT.I have an ASUS with an Athros Wireless R9285.Since the last update, I can't connect in wifi anymore (but it's ok with the cable, and ok with my other computer).I first though it was the on/off wifi button, or the Fn/F2 command, but no. Then, I tried to connect/unconnect the card, change the power specification, try all the anti viruses I've got and make a "restauration" at a date before the update and so the issue.
I seem to have a problem with my WiFi. Left-clicking the wireless icon in system tray doesn't work as in literally nothing happens. When I open the network and sharing center and click on "connect to a network" then also nothing happens. Right now it's only a minor problem, because my laptop auto-connects to networks it already knows but when I want to connect to a public WiFi in a cafe for example I can't look up any networks. Also I'd like to point out that setting up a new connection to connect to a WiFi works but for that I need to already know the network name and security type. Windows can't find any problems either and I've reinstalled all network adapter drivers.
I was on my laptop, connected to the Internet, going about as normal. My Wifi Internet went out completely and then would not reconnect. When I tried plugging directly in to our modem, it came up with error 633. It seems like one of my programs is interfering with it being able to connect. I haven't added or changed any programs recently, I've only uninstalled a few games/programs that weren't in any way related to the modem.
What programs could be the cause of error 633? Is there a list? Or is there another way to fix it? I can add more detail if needed. Well, I went out today and left my computer on while I was gone. When I came back, it was connected to the Wifi again. I've been using it for a bit, but now it's going on and off again. It's on for the moment though...
I have a trial version of Windows 7 ultimate because I lost my cd. I just found my cd but the paper work that came with it is missing. I dont have the product key, will I need it once I put in the cd?
Sometimes I am able to access the menu but it freezes at some point. everything is green and ok. Sometimes I can access one bought books, but cannot highlight a text. Or change the size of the font. I can mark the text, but when I try to highlight, the pointing hand turns into a hyphen. Cannot, in any way, add a note or use the copy function. However I can always use the built dictionary without any problems. If I try to access the Library, most of the time it freezes and sometimes not. The reading process has been very uneasy to follow. If I do access one book, there is no way to come back to the Library and read another book. Checked virus many times and nothing came up. This is a very strange behavior. Checking the Task manager and in Kindle line says it is running and does not show any problem. Everything I know was done, like install/uninstall, erase all traces of prior installation, install again as Administrator, run the installation or the Kindle program as an Administrator, deregister, register again, download books again and so on, following all instructions on Amazon site. Kindle 1.8.3 System with 6 GB of memory I7 NVIDIA GeForce GT 425M with 1 GB of dedicated video memory that passed the stress test 300 GB of free HD Operating System and virus program completely updated.
I have this incredibly disturbing problem that when I connected an USB stick my whole computer freezes.I have no control over the keyboard(Ctrl+Alt+Del wont work) and mouse meaning the only thing i can do is to force restart.I connect the USB when my external hard-drive is still powered off and when i turn it on the music stops and it just freezes.
Whenever I connect my computer to the TV using S-Video, the screen on the laptop flashes for about 5 seconds, switching between Aero and Basic Themes, gives an error messgae that the graphics card recovered from an error, then BSOD's. I've included the minidump. For the graphics card, see my system specs.
I can't get a Samsung ML 3560 Laser printer to operate with my desktop computer which is running Windows 7 Home Premium. There is nothing wrong with the printer or USB cable - they work fine with my laptop running XP.I have downloaded and installed the latest drivers for Windows 7 (and have checked this with Samsung), but for some reason the printer isn't showing up in device manager.I have tried connecting to various USB ports.
need to connect my new HP laptop to my desktop to transfer things. My usb cords have a flat end and a square end but the laptop has no square end to hook into only flat slots. It may be usb 3. Needs a different type of cable? what ype?
My wireless adapter shows that it is connected to my network, but my computer cannot connect to the internet. All other computers can still connect to the internet. It worked fine for almost a year, then one day...no connection.I use Windows 7, Home Premium, 64-bit; engenius wireless adapter and Linksys router. I tried to change to a TP-Link router, but my adapter (or computer) couldn't find it, so I switched back to the Linksys.Tried re-installing wireless adapter, linksys, tp-link; re-sets to both routers; uninstalling software, then re-installing;
When my new laptop boots up and I click on Internet Explorer, I am not autmatically connected to internet. This is not true of my other laptop and desktop at home.
Is there some setup thing I have to do so I can avoid having to always hit the additional button to connect?
ESS v4 is asking permission if i should allow Resource monitor to connect to a remote computer, is this like MS gathering system performance information ?
I have found the reverse but have yet to find this exact problem. My computer, running Windows 7 64 bit, will recognize the printer but won't let it connect to the printer. The network drive is not even seen. Both the printer and the network drive is hosted on a computer using Windows XP 32 bit.
I have an HP MobileWorkstation Elitebook 8440w with Windows 7 Enterprise 64-bit OS and I'm unable to add this mouse as a Bluetooth Device.I was able to add the device to my old HP Elitebook 8530w with Windows Vista and it worked most of the time, but then it stopped working when the OS was updated to Windows 7 Enterprise 64-bit. I don't have administrative permission on the 8530w to remove the device to attempt adding it again to see if that helps. Also, I can't change the Bluetooth settings on that machine to rule out that as the problem due to the same lack of permission.Rather than go back to my administrator to change the settings on the old 8530w and waste time trying to see if the mouse connects with it, I'd rather get my mouse to connect to my current 8440w laptop for which I can change the Bluetooth settings.
I tried to get the sys admins at work to fix this mouse problem, but they couldn't do it with the limited time they had to spare, especially since I have the option of using a USB mouse they provided. The problem is that I spent $50 on this mouse and it worked before the Windows 7 install on the 8530w and never worked on the 8440w. I've tried everything suggested in other forum threads on this issue: Turned mouse on using the power switch on the bottom and getting a steady green light Held down the button on the bottom to make mouse discoverable with flashing red and green light Fresh batteries (removed and replaced fresh batteries and attempted connection again) Edited all device settings as recommended in Microsoft documentation:Bluetooth Settings > Options (the following are checked on)DiscoveryAllow Bluetooth devices to find this computer ConnectionsAllow Bluetooth devices to connect to this computer Alert me when a new Bluetooth device wants to connect Show the Bluetooth icon in the notification area Bluetooth Settings >HardwareHP Integrated Module with Bluetooth 2.1 Wireless Technology"This device is working properly" Microsoft Bluetooth Enumerator"This device is working properly" Bluetooth Service PropertiesStartup Type: Automatic Service status: Started Log on as: Local System account Double-checked the device drivers to make sure they are up-to-date After all that, the "Add a device" tool just spins forever without discovering the mouse. Is my $50 mouse useless with Windows 7, or am I missing something?
