View 2 Replies View RelatedWhen attempting to install Windows 7 on my computer (it currently has Ubuntu Desktop 12.04 installed, and has no CD/DVD drive), I get the following error; Quote:A required CD/DVD drive device driver is missing. If you have a driver floppy disk, CD, DVD, or USB flash drive, please insert it now.Note: If the Windows installation media is in the CD/DVD drive, you can safely remove it for this step.I am installing it via a USB stick (copied the install files from my Windows 7 disk, due to the fact there is no CD/DVD drive). I've tried the common Internet solutions such as re-insert the USB stick, and try another USB port, none of the aforesaid have worked.

View 1 Replies View Relatedwindows is marking a data drive with a system attribute. Think it is happening in backup. I was hoping that someone would have an idea of what I was doing wrong. Or at least how to turnoff system attribute on the data drive so I could delete volume. I have reinstalled windows 7 (twice) and gotten the same results.
1) primary boot partition is 140 GB on C. Fresh install of Windows 7. I reformatted the install directory. No Windows.OLD directory after installation.
2) create a backup --> all user files and system image to DRIVE E (2TB)
3) after image is created --> Drive I (1 TB drive) is marked with a system attribute. Drive I has not been accessed at all and is clean.
4) Drive I is still empty. At no time was any data ever place on it. Also the partition on it was deleted and reformatted immediately before the reinstall of windows 7.
Future system images want to include DRIVE I
There are no files on DRIVE I -- unless Backup put them there. I have used GPARTED to delete the partition on I and reformat it, but same behavior reoccurs on backup.
I have windows 7N running on a normal motherboard (6 sata ports) no raid running. Motherboard is using standard intel ICHXR SATA RAID controller with most current drivers.
First my two DVD burners and blu ray burner were gone in Windows, then most of my hard drive partitions disappeared..BIOS shows the burners OK.Partition Manager shows only C, D and E, and the rest as Unallocated (540Gb).Burners do show up in device manager but with exclamation marks "no driver".

View 4 Replies View RelatedI successfully increased the size of my partition (from 24,36GB to 34,18GB) and restored my image again.
Windows 7 is up and running again, though the amount of space left, is still identical as it was before increasing the partition.
Windows Computer management shows (graphically) the new size (now 34.18GB) where in the same screen, just above the graphical presentation, the old partition size is shown (24,36GB). The latter is also show if I use explorer.

After a while it started freezing all the time so I decided to clean it up. It had tons of dust that I removed and I even applied thermal paste MX3 to the processor. Everything went well for a few months but now the freezing has restarted. Basically, I turn it on and it freezes while doing small stuff like opening firefox or steam whithin a minutes.
Normally the screen goes black but the lights in the tower stay on and the fans keep working. I have to manually reboot and then it just works normally with no more freezings. I have a Western Digital 1TB Hard Drive (External).I use it 99.9% of the time on my Windows 7 64bit computer to store pictures/videos and backup important files. It was working fine until I plugged it into a MACINTRASH to backup files from that computer. It was a simple copy and paste from the MACINTRASH to the External HDD.After copying the files from the MACINTRASH, I plugged it back into my PC.My PC no longer recognizes my external HDD. I unplugged the power, plugged it back in.Same with the USB cable. Rebooted. Then my computer wouldn't reboot and windows did its automatic self repair. Nothing.I unplugged EVERYTHING and left it that way for about 30 minutes. I plugged EVERYTHING back to my computer and turned it on.
Windows booted up fine. I plugged in the external HDD and windows had that little icon telling me it was installing drivers. I was excited to think that it finally would recognize my external HDD.Of course, it didn't work. The HDD does not show up in my computer. It does show up in Device Manager and Disk ManagementDevice MangerUnder Disk Drives it lists it only as "WD" My other drives it has a nice long name like "WD 7500AAK External USB Device" Under properties it tells me Volume information for the disk cannot be found. (The very first time I did that prior to the reboot it said there was 0MB of space on it). It claims the device is working properly Disk ManagementAt first this said that I must initialize my disk. Now it doesn't even show up anymore. I have no idea what to do anymore.

View 2 Replies View RelatedI have two Dell laptops, both running Windows 7. I have both set up on a HomeGroup and have enabled media sharing on both as well. Network discovery is turned on for both, file and printer sharing is on, password protected sharing is off. Under WMP, I have Media Streaming on. None of my folders are hidden.
For this discussion, things with Laptop A are fine, but Laptop B is causing me some problems. I have two main issues and fear they may be related: 1. From Laptop B, I can see Laptop A in the homegroup and I can see it in WMP. I can access all of Laptop A's files and play them back with no problem. However, from Laptop A, I can see Laptop B in the Homegroup, but I can not see it in WMP. I can navigate to certain folders in explorer and see the files, but I can not play them, even though I have all sharing functions that I can think of turned on. (I do have McAfee running, but disabled the firewall in case that was the problem. It didn't help)
Also, I have a DLNA compliant device on the network that I can stream music to using the "play to" feature in WMP. From Laptop A I can play to the network speaker just fine. I can not from Laptop B. I should add that I can "see" the device in WMP from Laptop B, but when I queue a track to play, it just hangs up as if it can't communicate any further with the networked speaker.

It may restart once or maybe twice a day or not at all but It happens too often and started a while back. I have checked temp using Sisoft sandra but its not overheated. The only thing unusual to me was the power supply fan seems to kick in twice. Its done that since it was new. It still does it at times but not always. The Power supply is a Fatality 550 w. The amd processor is low watts and so is the video card. I don't like the idea of replacing stuff just to see if it works. I don't know if ram or memory error could cause something like this?

View 1 Replies View RelatedLately I have been facing this problem of mine that is bugging me for probably a month of so. Occasionally (yes occasionally, this does not happen all the time) , my computer would just turn "unresponsive" when I attempt to shut it down. To describe it, the computer just would not respond to the shutdown/restart command, and in a while my computer's theme would just change to the CLASSIC THEME(sometimes it wont, but most of the time yes), which I have no idea why. If i were to try to put it to sleep, the computer would just go to sleep and would not respond to any of my computer's commands if i try to turn it on, which renders me no choice but to force it to power off by cutting the power supply directly. To further describe it, I am still able to move my mouse, open up the start menu, type in stuff in the search bar, but i would be unable to open up any programs. So far I have been encountering this for quite a few times and I have no idea how to rectify it. I basically just power off whenever I encounter such situations. Anyone here knows how do I stop this?
