View 1 Replies View Relatedit's been weeks and I've tried everything I could: system restore, disk check, disc fragmentor, safemode scanning, etc My problem is that for some reason, all of my scans (superantispyware, malwarebytes and avast), all start to freeze during full system scans. Quick scans are completely fine, but when it's system scan, for example, superantispyware would hang when it gets to system32

View 8 Replies View RelatedMy laptop is in a homegroup with my desktop to do printer sharing and also remote desktop. Not sure when it started but both systems are booting very slow. So I ran the sfc /scannow. The CBS.log shows the errors that couldn't be fixed. Is there anyone that can help me fix the errors?Because I did an anytime upgrade doing a clean install is going to be a real pain and I am hoping with the log that I can attempt a fix rather than doing a clean install or system repair which both will require hours of doing. Seems if I understand the log that one problem is a printer issue, maybe?I don't want to post the log here and am not sure which forum I should seek help on.Both my systems are running Win 7 64 bit, Norton IS 2012, Malwarebytes, and I use CCleaner on a regular bases. Everything tells me I am free of any problems like viruses, malware, spyware and the like.
View 6 Replies View RelatedOn my old machine with XP, I ran the HP specific drivers without issue and these drivers could scan directly to multipage pdfs. On the new computer with Windows 7, the generic HP PSC 1200 driver that is part of Windows 7 will not scan to pdf. It does the bmp, jpg, tiff, and png. And not multi page. Any way to get back the pdf capability without having to buy acrobat? I legally had the ability before the "upgrade".

View 2 Replies View RelatedI'm trying to create a scheduled task that will wake my computer weekly to run a Security Essentials full scan. Apparently, the MSE scheduler does not wake the computer for scans but DOES put the computer to sleep during a scan if the sleep timer is set for less time than the scan requires (mine is).I have created a new Win 7 (64-bit) account to run the task because of apparent conflicts with doing so in the other user account. The main problem I'm having involves the "details" column of the "Actions" tab in the task properties; I don't know what to enter as the path for the MSE full scan so I can't tell Windows what program to start.
View 9 Replies View RelatedI have disconnected one of my HDs for audiorecoding. Windows seems to try to boot from it from time to time. Sometimes when I cant boot, the windows installation cant be found at all. Win keeps telling me to change the wireless USB to a faster one, and somtimes it drops out.I have updated all drivers lately, run chkdsk and scf / scannow : it finds files damaged, but cant repair.Even when I bought the PC it could not find the one of the HDs, I changed the ASA-connect-cables and it worked till now. most of the time the PC runns ok.

I have been having intermittent OS problems on my PC, so before they managed to get any worse, I ran the sfc/scannow check. It ran without a problem and when it was done it reported it had completed 100%, however "Windows Resource Protection found corrupt files but was unable to fix some of them."So, I go into my windows (yes I am logged in as administrator) to read the log file and access is denied. I went into the security settings for the main Log file to change the security settings for myself to full control, however it didnt change anything. I am unable to get to any type of security measures for the file itself going the regular route via its properties.I am not all that knowledgeable with these types of things, (but know enough to get myself in trouble now and again! ) and would appreciate knowing if there is something else I need to do in order to gain access and read this file? I also tried to get to it going through my Administrator Command Prompt but I was denied access in this attempt also.
View 1 Replies View RelatedI had the google redirect virus.. tried removing it myself through different methods.. still remained, so I decided to back up all my things and just reformat and reinstall. yesterday I did a dell factory image restore though, instead of doing a OS re-installation using my windows 7 disc, entering my product key etc (probably should have...)long story short: my mouse is lagging. i should note it started to lag before i did the factory restore also. at that point i figured it was just the virus/malware.but it's still here and driving me crazy. i googled and poked around the forums- following different advice to no avail. i performed all of the dell hardware diagnostic tests- passed them. i've done sfc /scannow 3+ times. tells me there are corrupt files but are unable to fix them. log shows:

I have Window Seven family on my laptop. It goes quite well. but doing some maintenance, I noticed that SFC scannow detected a problem.
From the log (sfc detail below) it seems to me that it is autotchk.exe is corrupted, both in Windows and in Windows backup store.I can however do a checkdsk which go fine, and do not detect problem (it seems to often be the case when the autochk.exe is currupted). So it goes well.As suggested on many thread, I redid many sfc scans, reboot and retry (seven times at least) without change. O course I did also many virus and spyware scan, both software and online, an the PC is clean, so it don't seems to be the problemI would like an easy remedy, as I don't want to spend days reinstalling Windows, software and settings, and as everything else seems fine.
1 -I was wondering it the autochk.exe is really to be changed, and if this is the only SFC problem. (I posted scan details)
2 -And if so, is this a way I can just copy Autotchk.exe from another PC running window (32 bits as the laptop, in Ultimate or Starter version (both at hand) and replace it in Window.OR to take it from a friend PC that have Seven Family (exactl like the laptop) And also should I change also both autochk.exe.mui which are in the same file or is it pointless ? Or, if not possible, where and how can I get an clean autochk.exe ?
3 - Or is the whole thing unecessary, and am I better to leave things as they are ?
I just got my laptop from service (they replaced a new hard drive and installed windows 7). It is a Sony Vaio.i own it now but it's a slightly used rent-to-own type of deal so no windows dvd or system restore or anything. They supposedly restored my computer to factory setting but I can't update my computer. The bar to the left is red and i see a red shield with a white x and it says most recent checks for updates: never updates were installed: never i go to installed programs and nothing has been installed since early 2010.It's like whenever i try to click check for updates button it's like something is blocking it from connecting and scanning is the best way I can explain it. I desperately need help to update all my software and security patches etc.I found something online where it says to type services.msc and stop it and go to c/windows/software distribution and delete the files and then start the service so then windows updates still won't scan (windows 7)....says service is not running but it is.
