View 2 RepliesAdvanced SystemCare Free - Free software downloads and software reviews - CNET [URL]I realize Advance Care offers more options, but am curious to which one provides the best service vs effect on system. Are the options offered by Advance Care necessary or can they be accomplished as effectively by using the built-in Windows functions ?My interest is that after a recent clean install, I downloaded CC Cleaner and it did not seem to work properly. Took long time to activate, etc. Just curious about the comparison.

View 4 Replies View RelatedI'm trying to fix my mom's Lenovo B570. I did a disk cleanup, defrag, and ran a full anti-malware scan. After cleaning off 122 malware items, I restarted the laptop for it to take affect. After entering her password, it's stuck on the welcome screen. Even my dad, who's been in IT for 30 years, can't help me. I've done a forced shut down, but that didn't work and I can't bring up the task manager.

View 4 Replies View RelatedEverything was going ok, I have Windows 7 Beta build 7022 32Bit. Then I installed ccleaner and performed both ccleaner and registery. Now what ever I try to download with IE gets stuck at 99%. Does anybody know if ccleaner caused this problem and can I fix it.
This is my only problem so far, I have windows live installed no problem, and my system runs ok even though I have only 512mb ram and an old Hyrican laptop.
My Ccleaner runs only up to 30% then gets stuck.
View 3 Replies View RelatedI just bought a refurbished Dell desktop PC that came with Windows XP Home preloaded. I have bought the disc from Microsoft for Windows 7 OS and want to do a clean install on that PC.
When I put in the Windows 7 disc and restart the PC, the cursor will appear for about a minute flashing in the upper left hand corner of the black screen before the machine finally boots to Windows XP Home edition.
Things Ive tried:
1.Reboot and hit F2 to check the reboot order which is already set to do Onboard or USB CD-ROM Drive as the first choice.
2.Reboot and hit F12 to see if there are any other options that make sense (which dont to me).
3.Reboot in Safe Mode (and then what do I do?)
Heres my PCs configuration:

Doing clean install for Windows-7 64bit but over 3/4 of the way through while in "completing installation" phase computer shuts off completely. Before turning off gives error msg "... windows has encountered problem and could not complete the installation..". Have Gigabyte GA-P35-DS3L v2.0 motherboard/ 4GB GSkill RAM/Intel-e8400 processor. Wondering if it's hardware driver issues or BIOS problem.Tried turning off all peripherals in BIOS but no success.

As I understand it if I clean the TC, each time I open a folder it will need to rebuild the thumbnails. I believe this slows things down. Is there a benefit to not cleaning or does the cache keep growing and using up more space?
If I do an Easy Transfer from my existing Window-7 Pro System, which has 10 Users (family members), to a clean install of Windows-7 Pro, will it work? What I am asking is: can Easy Transfer, transfer to the same version of Windows: Windows-7 Pro to Windows-7 Pro? If so, I would be able to eliminate Users and their Files while also eliminating Program Software. The Hardware would be the same System, just a new Hard Drive.

I've also read to go into safe mode to remove the old drivers, reboot and run CCleaner then swap and boot into safe mode.

This system is so sluggish it either has multiple infections or is just overloaded given its puny 512 MB of RAM, so I can't really use the system specs utility at the moment.Since I'm working on a similar clean install for an ACER notebook which is Win7HP 32-bit, what are the chances that the .iso file I'm burning to DVD can also be used for this much older technology. I have no problem upgrading the RAM to its max, unless it's already at its max?

View 0 Replies View RelatedHow I got in the current state is a looong story! But I have a new 2TB drive (~2 weeks old) that appears to have 3 partitions on it:
a) "New Volume", 80GB NTFS, Primary, healthy
b) "Local Volume", 0 bytes Not Formatted, Primary Healthy
c) 1.741TB Unallocated
My problem is I didn't create and don't want the "Local Volume" partition. But just about everything I try in Acronis Disk Director either crashes it or says "internal error".I've given up on the data. Is there anything I can do to get this drive back to its original usable state?I'm running Win7 x64 (and I suspect its repair utility caused the corruption).

I ran the Acer eRecovery and replaced the entire operating system, but Acer added all the "free" crap including Macafee.Mostly I got rid of all the fluff, but MCAgent.exe still persists and I can't get rid of it or the folders it is in.I installed "Take Ownership," but still can't remove the remnants. The Macafee icon shows up in the Notifications Customize list too.
