Cant Install - USB/DVD Download Tool
Oct 27, 2009i was trying to make a 7.iso of windows 7 profetional into a bootable dvd so i wanted to use the Windows 7 USB/DVD Download Tool but when i try to install it i get this error.

Windows USB/DVD Download Tool Fails To Install?
Jun 19, 2012Any attempt to download and install this tool results in " This file does not have a program associated with it for performing this action. Please install a program or, if one is installed, create an association in the Default Programs control panel."
I do not get this error with any other program I attempt to run, or download and install. I need to create a bootable usb drive or dvd to do a upgrade repair of my 7 installation. My original windows 7 DVD does not contain SP1. I have downloaded the SP1 iso and just need this too to work.

Aug 9, 2010So anyone used this tool? I have an ISO file that I purchased/downloaded from Digital River and I am trying to make a bootable USB drive. I have a brand new 16GB drive that I am trying to use so it has PLENTY of space on it. Anyway, I go to run to tool and it gets to the part where it says formatting and then it says something like "we are unable to copy your files, check the USB drive and the ISO and try again."

Nov 3, 2009I've never quote seen this problem, but I'm trying to burn the ISO for Windows 7 with the Microsoft download tool, and it can't find the dvd drive. Unfortunately the tool does not give you the option to search for it.
The only thing I can see that might be it is in Device Manager it shows up as a CD-ROM. Yet the drive functions and burns fine. I just upgraded to latest firmware. Drive is Asus DRW-1814BLT.
MS Removal Tool To Install Itself Using Only Pop-up?
May 22, 2011I was searching pictures with Google and accidentally got directed to the not-so-secure site that showed a pop-up window saying something about that "rogue" MS Removal Tool program. Pop-up had only OK button and close function at the top corner. After considering I didn't press neither and closed Google Chrome using task manager. I restarted my computer several times to determine to if I got the infection, but apparently I dodged the bullet this time.Is it possible for MS Removal Tool to install itself using only pop-up or does it require install before it can activate itself and wreck havoc?

Jun 25, 2012I reinstalled windows 7 a few weeks ago and everything went well and its running really fast and never crashes or anything but SP1 just will not ever install. I tried disabiling my antivirus, installing it without any other updates, downloading it off the Microsoft site and installing it manually, going into troubleshooting in the control panel for the updates and it did some checks and said it repaired some update stuff but it did nothing and I tried the update readiness tool. It installed and did a scan and said it fixed some stuff but it didn't fix my problem. Here is the log from the update readiness tool. I searched around on how to understand the log but couldn't really find much so hopefully one of you can help. I did download and copy the KB2633952.msu file into the CheckSUR directly like it says on the Microsoft site to fix the unavailable repair files. [code]

When I put the stick in it just connects and then disconnects every 15 seconds or so. Tried to right click and format, but it fails, guessing because it disconnects. Also tried using diskpart in cmd but had the same results.

Aug 27, 2012Not sure if this is in the right part of the forums? but here we go. I am formating and reinstalling windows 7. I have a Dell Inspiron 1720 laptop. Intel 2.3 ghz duel core, cpu. upgraded to 4 gig of ram. done months ago. New 750 gig HDD. New to this install. just bought it. Installed with a dell windows 7 disk. It activated fine. had a few problem with the install. could not install Windows 7 usb dvd tool could not install Office 2010. Did get NOD 32 install and all the windows updates. I figured there was aglitch in the install. I formated and reinstalled windows 7 from a usb drive i created on another computer. that i just installed the windows 7 usb dvd tool on. windows loaded fine, so first thing i tried to install the windows 7 usb dvd tool would not install. so formated and started again. All went well windows 7 activated fine. tried to install the windows 7 usb dvd tool again no joy. so I went ahead and installed all the updates. NOD 32. windows office all went well. tried again to install the Win 7 usb dvd tool no joy. I have googled the problem there is no info out there on this problem. I searched the problem in this forum nothing. I had this tool running on the original install before i started this whole thing and it worked fine. Any suggestion would be great! Nothing invested but time!

May 10, 2009I purchased 4GB of RAm a few mnths ago and also got a copy of Vista HP64. From the get go I had all sort of issues in Vista - games would not run, the OS seemed to crash a lot, would get messages like MS Outlooks data file was not closed properly. Windows defender would crash all the time.Tried about 15 different nVidia drivers... gave up. I tried 3 different HDDs too.
So anyway I moved back to XP because I assumed it was simply Vista.
This week I downloaded Win7RC1!! I'd heard nothing but greta things on podcasts, in forums etc. So i installed.
From the start I've had again defender crashing, "windows logon" errors, action centre shows me a LOT of errors that it's detetced and fixed. I get a few "explorer has stopped working" errors too. UGH! Games do not work - they freeze either on loading or after 30 seconds or so of gaming. I've had 4 or so BSODs which I had heard were basically unheard of in Windows 7! They were of varying variety.
All these erros in 3 days worth of running Windows 7? Seems a lot.... and errors on core components of Windows 7 too.

However this takes a bit of time and I was wondering if there was a good tool out there that you would recommend to save me crawling through their PCs uninstalling unused programs, clearing out .tmp files etc etc - you know the kind of things.

The last part was too hard for me so he made it easier. I only know him because he replied to my request for an ERUNT replacement -he was the only one of ten people.It is going to have videos, tutorials and prntscns shots to make it ez.I asked around for along time because so many techs swear by ERUNT and I wanted it or a replacement. Unfortunatley the author of ERUNT developed it up to XP but Win 7 users were stuck unless very techy.This is what I was avidly looking for and he said awhile ago he woud do it.So, if you are like me and make errors you would like to erase, add another backup tool to your toolbox.It is freeware and he promises there are no nasties.

I mentioned this feature in my Windows 7 Beta review, but I'd like to point out again that it's not just Device Manager for Dummies: This new Windows 7 feature can actually find and fix problems with your PC. And it really works. I've used this feature to find missing drivers on two different PCs now, and in both cases a similar search via Device Manager netted no lover at all.
Here's how it works. Launch Devices and Printers (use Start Menu search) and locate any devices with a yellow bang graphic on its icon. Right-click and choose Troubleshoot to launch one of Windows 7's stealthy new features: A troubleshooting infrastructure that links back to Microsoft's data center to always provide the most up-to-date help. The troubleshooter will detect the problem and look for solutions.
And while I can't claim a 100 percent success rate quite yet, it's certainly worked better than device manager: I found a biometric driver and fixed a Bluetooth problem on my laptop, and found a system management bus driver on my desktop using this tool. Nice!

Jan 15, 2013is there a tool that can be used to update all your drivers? like i mean something that will scan them and tell you if they need to be updated? i've tried device manager all the time, and it never finds any updates. i think in the 3 computer that ive owned, only 1 got an update from device manager.with my current, fresh install, and device manager dident recognize that i had updates for the video driver, Ethernet, etc.
