View 1 Replies View RelatedMy Windows Installer won't install anything such as updates and certain programs.I've tried all sorts of fixes found on the internet, but none work and I don't have the windows 7 disc!I am Windows 7 Ultimate SP1 - if I can't get it sorted then I can't install the updates thus at risk when on the internet - not to mention I won't be able to install any software!
View 7 Replies View RelatedI seem to not be able to install new programs to my computer anymore. dditionally, programs can not update themselves--the programs that auto-update have stopped working (they just "hang up" during the install or update process).
- Programs that don't try to update seem to work fine. I can use them, save new files, and do everything else as normal. The problem is restricted to programs that are trying to update, or programs I'm trying to install.
- Restarting the computer or trying to re-install the programs has not solved the issue.
- I am able to work around the issue for one of the programs (Screenpresso) by manually downloading the updated edition and installing it in safe mode. This tactic does not work on my other programs with "update issues" though (FocusMe, Market Samurai, & SpinnerChief)
- Disabling all my background monitoring programs in normal startup mode (Adaware, ZoneAlarm, AVG) has not helped
- The problem has been occuring for about a month and I've been tolerating it because the programs with issues were not needed then. Now they are--and I need to figure out what the issue is!
I'm using Windows 7 32 bit.
My problem is whenever i download the microsoft important softwares
Eg: Microsoft FrameWork , Mircosoft Visual Studio , Mircosoft Works , etc ...
Bought some pieces, assembled a new PC, installed Windows 7 Ultimate, then SP1, then several programs and everything seemed to be fine. But the next day, without changing anything, some programs won't start correctly, to be more precise: their processes seem to start (or at least they show up on Task Manager, but consuming only a few KB of ram and no CPU) but no program window appears whatsoever. Sometimes rebooting the PC will stop this from happening, but not always. Here I attach screenshots of CPU-Z and the customary files for debugging BSODs. Full system specs: [URL].

I've confused myself now.Cannot access any file due to permissions. Need to know how to remove programs, then reset permissions. I've been trying to work on this for two days. Can't seem to make sense of any of the great information and tools available, because I don't know which to address first.
View 2 Replies View Relatedam having a problem with many of my programs. For example, my minesweeper does not save my game anymore, my curse client does not open saying it is a logging system error, my google chrome does not save my history and the extensions i have on it do not save any of my history as well, my windows desktop gadgets do not update anymore (my weather is not updating and says it cannot connect to the internet), and my taskbar does not recognize my cursor leaving it so it keeps whatever icon i had my cursor on last highlighted. The last thing I remember installing before all the errors occurred is minecraft and a minecraft server

View 2 Replies View RelatedI bought a second hand Dell Dimension 3000 running Windows 7. I have no sound. The drivers are installed in Device Manager (Realtec AC'97), and also (Uniplex Half Modem) both under sound, video controllers. There are no exclamation marks in device manager. All drivers are up to date. Dell diagnostic and Microsoft Fix it both say everything is ok. There is no sound from internal speaker. I tried external speakers via green jack at back & front of machine but there is no option to select these speakers. If I try to play music then nothing happens. When I access the sound option there is a green 'equalizer bar' which goes up and down to tell music is playing...but I can't hear anything. I have checked and mute is not selected-volume is set to 100%. I opened the machine and behind the jack plug seems to be closed with no removable parts. I downloaded the latest Audio Driver from Dell but it says its not compatible with my OS.
I think I've covered everything I've done.
Today I decided to install some stuff on my computer as it was out of date..I installed Java, Flash player and adobe reader X but when I go to add/remove they are not showing up in that section?
View 9 Replies View RelatedI recently upgraded my machine to an AMD Sempron II X3 720 Black Edition. I've enabled virtualization in the bios. I've gone and downloaded the following two files from Microsoft's Virtual PC web page:
Windows6.1-KB958559-x64.msu - the Virtual PC installation
WindowsXPMode_en-us.exe - the virtual PC XP Mode file
I've installed both files but nowhere in my menu do I have a Windows Virtual PC folder to launch into Windows XP mode.
When I go to the C:Program FilesWindows XP Mode directory, all I see is this:
A folder called Tutorial
KEY.TXT
VXPEULA.txt
Windows XP Mode base.vhd
But nowhere do I have an icon in my start menu Virtual Windows XP shortcut.
I am running Windows 7 Home Premium Home Premium. I cannot install Openoffice.org, I have the message": "You need Windows Installer". This is ridiculous, since I install other software to reverse without any problems.

View 3 Replies View Related2 days ago, I posted about how my BIOS can't even detect SSD anymore. So we concluded that my SSD was dead. After talking to OCZ tech support, the guy told me to change SATA configuration into ACHI and then my BIOS was able to detect SSD again.
So i thought that the problem was solved, but as soon as windows 7 logo shows up, blue screen pops up for like 0.5 sec, and then restarts the computer. I thought that SSD was working fine, BIOS could detect it, and the only problem is with windows 7 so I decided to put windows 7 disc in dvd drive to format and reinstall. But now, my windows 7 can't detect SSD.
What should I do? Why can't my windows 7 disc detect SSD when my BIOS can. And does this mean my SSD is still alive? [URL]

Then windows installer can't find the SATA 3 ssd. but it is working fine at windows 7 . only problem that windows installer can;t find when i trying install the operating system on this SATA 3 ssd. But windows 8 installer can find SATA 3 SSD, very nicely. windows 8 is okey to find this sata during installation.

View 12 Replies View RelatedBit of a weird one here, I recently restored an old Dell Dimension 8250 to run windows 7 pro 32bit. It has 1gb of ram and i've heard its capable enough. The installation went fine and everything worked for a couple of days, but now any non original programs i install appcrash straight away eg. Firefox, daemon tools, utorrent.. Control panel wont let me uninstall them so i have to delete their folders and use control panel to remove them from list. Then i reinstall and it will work until a few restarts of the system.
Also it used to connect to the wireless but now it only sees my nieghbours networks and not mine which is weird as all other laptops in my house can connect fine?
i am migrating my computer environment to my new pc and need to know what programs/software comes pre-packaged with my Windows 64-bit Home Edition.
View 3 Replies View RelatedI am going to reinstall windows 7 on my SSD but when I built my computer a few weeks ago I used a 60gb SSD for windows and a separate HDD for files, programs, etc. Now I am wondering how reinstalling windows 7 will affect the program files on the separate HDD. I'm figured the OS recognizes the programs on my separate HDD b/c it installed them there. But if I install a new OS how can I tell it to recognize the program file on my separate HDD? Or am I S.O.L. and I need to delete the programs folder and reinstall everything fresh with the fresh OS?
View 5 Replies View RelatedI'm running Windows 7 Ultimate 64 bit, For months I had any printer I set up working easily, and never had any problems printing. Last week I went to print a document from microsoft word, and it says "Windows cannot print due to a problem with the current printer setup". I thought that was pretty weird, so I went into Google Chrome, and tried printing a PDF online, it said "The printer selected is not available or not installed correctly. Check your printer or try to select another printer"I figured it was probably just a simple driver issue, but to make sure, I selected "Microsoft XPS Document writer" from the drop-down list, but to my surprise, it had the same error message, as did all of the options on that printer list.I uninstalled and reinstalled my printer driver anyways, and that did not fix my problem, even after trying to update the driver. Actually, it made it worse. My computer almost completely froze up and was running at 100% cpu power... I had to restart it. This happened a few times and I noticed that every time it did, in Task Manager in the processes there was a process called something like "USB setup" or something that effect (i don't want to freeze my computer to find out). I also noticed about half a million "splwow64.exe -Print driver host for 32 bit applications". (is this supposed to say "for 64 bit applications" if im running 64 bit windows? or is that literally for programs that are 32 bit programs?)I can't print anything at all, and have restarted many times. I think this is a deeper problem than drivers, I KNOW its not just my printer driver, nor my printer because it works with my girlfriends computer. Other usb devices work fine.
