View 1 Replies View RelatedMy problem is whenever i download the microsoft important softwares
Eg: Microsoft FrameWork , Mircosoft Visual Studio , Mircosoft Works , etc ...
I bought a second hand Dell Dimension 3000 running Windows 7. I have no sound. The drivers are installed in Device Manager (Realtec AC'97), and also (Uniplex Half Modem) both under sound, video controllers. There are no exclamation marks in device manager. All drivers are up to date. Dell diagnostic and Microsoft Fix it both say everything is ok. There is no sound from internal speaker. I tried external speakers via green jack at back & front of machine but there is no option to select these speakers. If I try to play music then nothing happens. When I access the sound option there is a green 'equalizer bar' which goes up and down to tell music is playing...but I can't hear anything. I have checked and mute is not selected-volume is set to 100%. I opened the machine and behind the jack plug seems to be closed with no removable parts. I downloaded the latest Audio Driver from Dell but it says its not compatible with my OS.
I think I've covered everything I've done.
I'm running Windows 7 Ultimate 64 bit, For months I had any printer I set up working easily, and never had any problems printing. Last week I went to print a document from microsoft word, and it says "Windows cannot print due to a problem with the current printer setup". I thought that was pretty weird, so I went into Google Chrome, and tried printing a PDF online, it said "The printer selected is not available or not installed correctly. Check your printer or try to select another printer"I figured it was probably just a simple driver issue, but to make sure, I selected "Microsoft XPS Document writer" from the drop-down list, but to my surprise, it had the same error message, as did all of the options on that printer list.I uninstalled and reinstalled my printer driver anyways, and that did not fix my problem, even after trying to update the driver. Actually, it made it worse. My computer almost completely froze up and was running at 100% cpu power... I had to restart it. This happened a few times and I noticed that every time it did, in Task Manager in the processes there was a process called something like "USB setup" or something that effect (i don't want to freeze my computer to find out). I also noticed about half a million "splwow64.exe -Print driver host for 32 bit applications". (is this supposed to say "for 64 bit applications" if im running 64 bit windows? or is that literally for programs that are 32 bit programs?)I can't print anything at all, and have restarted many times. I think this is a deeper problem than drivers, I KNOW its not just my printer driver, nor my printer because it works with my girlfriends computer. Other usb devices work fine.

View 1 Replies View RelatedI have installed Win 7 x64. I suspect I have inadvertently deleted part of the Win Installer 5.0. It is not available as a separate download (only 4.5). I have been stuffing around for several days and have tried many, many things all to no avail. So, the installer could be in quite an indeterminate state.Every time I try to install software (say Office or even the OS) the installation simply fails with setup has encountered n error after a few seconds.I have backups from a month ago, but am unsure whether these had the problem. Is there some way I can reinstall the Win 7 Win Installer 5.0.Also in the services there was a Windows installer service, now there is an Instalator Windows service.

View 5 Replies View RelatedIt loads fine but I wonder why doesn't the come up when it's booting up. It just stays there black. Is it because I have reinstalled my operating system way too many times? Because it's been like this since whenever I reinstalled it. Not a big deal but I'm just curious as of why. My windows is activated, btw.

View 11 Replies View Relatedafter upgrading to internet explorer 9, i realized that ie9 doesn't work with most of the things i do in the browser!! facebook locks up, Internet doesn't like it, and most of all, i can't do my online classes because internet explorer 9 is not supported by webassign or csi blackboard. webassign and blackboard do not work in firefox, either.i thought, uninstall ie9 and put internet explorer 8 back on. after being to over 20 different websites, i cannot find an installer for ie8 for windows 7 x64 anywhere. i did try the installers for both windows xp x64 and windows vista x64, but both of them said the installer was incompatable with my version of windows.
i contacted microsoft and they told me to go to programs and features, windows features, and check internet explorer 8. but after i uninstalled ie9, only the internet explorer 9 feature was listed, not 8.so i called support back, and this time they didn't tell me to do that. instead, the support rep, as stupid as he was, told me that internet explorer 8 is not compatable with windows 7. i told him, my computer came with ie8 pre-installed. windows updates is what broke it!so basically, tl;dr, i need an installer for ie8 for windows 7 x64.
have been having problems installing programs in my computer.the error messages i get include "the windows installer service not available". i have tried to activate it at the services.msc and its not even there.

This has happened before, and sometimes the installer starts after a few minutes, but sometimes it takes over an hour, and often i have to just shut it down, because i can't wait for it. Does anyone know about this problem, and a solution for it? In the Joblist, under processes, it is called SETUP.EXE*32, and looks inactive.

View 9 Replies View RelatedI was having a problem earlier with tons of BSOD's, but after getting some help here I was able to solve the problem. But lo and behold I try to install something and get this new problem. I tried going into cmd and unregistering windows installer and then re-registering it but that didnt work. Someone suggesting going into regedit and going to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINESYSTEMCURRENT CONTROL SETSERVICESMSIserverWOW64 then right click on WOW64, then select Modify Set Value Data to 0 (mine was set at 1) and Base should be Hexadecimal. However, I can't even do this because when I go to MSIserver there is no WOW64 folder so I don't even know what to change.
System restore doesn't work earlier. I really want to avoid a complete reinstall. I was able to avoid it with my BSODs but now with this new issue I cannot install anything on my computer.
I built this computer Dec 11, and have had consistant installer issues from day one. Installing or removing programs hangs/takes forever or doesn't work at all. I don't get any error messages. It just hangs forever. Sometimes, if I go to bed on it, it will be complete in the morning. On the first Windows OS install, once I got the install probs, I just did another clean install. It didn't change a thing.Sometimes, thru the past, I've just ignored the errors, and simply tried to get along without some of the programs I've wanted to install. But now, Windows Updates aren't installing either, and the persistant messages and restart prompts are driving me crazy.Where in the heck do I start? I've run Microsoft's fixit for install errors.

View 12 Replies View RelatedI was playing around with a program called PartitionMagic, because I wanted to convert my external harddrive from NTFS to FAT32, but it didn't work, so I tried another program. Partition Manager. As soon as the installation started, the computer had a BSoD, and has started having this every time I try to boot the Computer. At first I thought this was only caused by the harddrive, but I put it to a test, by removing the harddrive, and adding my laptops harddrive instead. Sadly the same thing happens. It boots into the Windows logo, and then a BSoD appears, restarting my PC yet again.I've tried launching the Startup Repair, but it results in failure. The description tells me that the "Boot Configuration is corrupt", so I tried searching for a fix on this.
That led me to trying bootsect.exe and bootrec.exe on the command prompt, through both the advanced startup repair thing, and through the Windows 7 Installation DVD.Even though all the commands I've ran say they were executed successfully, it still gives me a BSoD on startup. As a last resort, I tried to format my harddrive through the Windows 7 DVD. This is where I noticed that it recognizes my harddrive, but tells me there is only 100 or so mb on it.Also if I try to do a system restore, it gives me "an unexpected error: A device attached to the system is not functioning. (0x8007001F)
Every time I put my computer to sleep or hibernate and wake it up, the computer resumes to a screen stating "Windows failed to shut down correctly" A recent hardware or software change might be the cause and I'm asked to choose how to restart.Quite similar to the screen I would get after a crash.
