Windows 7 Still Can't Boot With Static IP Correctly
Feb 22, 2011
I set my Windows 7 Pro computer to a static IP. Reboot and the computer can't get to the network, forget the internet. Give it a DHCP IP, then immediately give it the static it had and it works fine. does anyone know a script I can have run at startup that sets the NIC to DHCP, then back to the static I want?

I was playing around with a program called PartitionMagic, because I wanted to convert my external harddrive from NTFS to FAT32, but it didn't work, so I tried another program. Partition Manager. As soon as the installation started, the computer had a BSoD, and has started having this every time I try to boot the Computer. At first I thought this was only caused by the harddrive, but I put it to a test, by removing the harddrive, and adding my laptops harddrive instead. Sadly the same thing happens. It boots into the Windows logo, and then a BSoD appears, restarting my PC yet again.I've tried launching the Startup Repair, but it results in failure. The description tells me that the "Boot Configuration is corrupt", so I tried searching for a fix on this.
That led me to trying bootsect.exe and bootrec.exe on the command prompt, through both the advanced startup repair thing, and through the Windows 7 Installation DVD.Even though all the commands I've ran say they were executed successfully, it still gives me a BSoD on startup. As a last resort, I tried to format my harddrive through the Windows 7 DVD. This is where I noticed that it recognizes my harddrive, but tells me there is only 100 or so mb on it.Also if I try to do a system restore, it gives me "an unexpected error: A device attached to the system is not functioning. I recently built a new computer using the Asus P67 Sabertooth Motherboard.I am using a Crucial SSD drive as my boot drive. This is my problem. If the computer ever goes into sleep the monitor will not wake up when moving the mouse and the computer has to be hard shut down in order to get it to get the screen to come on. The computer sounds as though its waking up just no video at all.The second thing is every couple of weeks my computer will start to boot up and then after the Bios screens it will sit at a black screen with a blinking cursor.I will restart and go into the bios and select boot menu and select the Crucial C300 SSD and it will say its resuming windows. But it will never boot correctly again.I will always have to boot this way.I am wondering if the SSD is bad.

So when I came back from class today, my computer was off and so I turned it on. It never got passed what seems to be the BIOS screen (I don't actually know what it is, but that's what I think it is).
I have a Predator G Series G5900, with no modifications. Attached is the photo of the screen I have when I turn on the computer.
What I have tried:
- Unplug every USB device and take off the power supply. Hold the power button for 30 seconds. Reboot.

Occasionally my Laptop (Windows 7, 3gb RAM, Compaq Presario CCQ61) doesn't boot up correctly. As in normally the problem is ''Windows cannot find an OS'' thats not the exact wording but somewhere along the lines, its a blue screen and there is also some other writing underneath. I tap the off button to turn off and then i turn on again, sometimes it boots up fine and works good but sometime like it says run system repair (reccomended) so you do and it go's through steps and tells you to do a system restore which I do then it does work...but then maybe a week later you will open the lid and it won't respond (the mouse won't move and you have to hold the power button the turn it off., its starting to get annoying at this stage, considering restoring to factory settings.

We set up three new terminals this week at the office; they're all running Win 7 Pro 32-bit. I set them all up simultaneously (literally sat at a desk and entered the same keystrokes at each of them), so I don't see any obvious reason that one is behaving differently from the other two. The essential problem is that the terminal doesn't see the Internet.
Here are all the particulars that I think might be interesting, listed in no particular order:
- The terminal ran fine for several hours. Email access, Internet access, from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. At that point, the user called me to show me a dialog box. I used System Restore to go back in time to 9 a.m. in case the user had somehow managed to do anything (though she's not an admin).
- IPv6 is disabled.
- The workplace uses Static IPs. The IP address is entered correctly in the IPv4 properties (x.x.x.213), but at cmd / ipconfig, I get this result: "Autoconfiguration IPv4 address: 169.254.95.187"
- In Network and Sharing Center, the network (which is only known as Unidentified Network) is set to type Public. When I reset it to type Work and reboot, it resets to type Public.

My sound is acting strange since i've installed Windows 7. (Ex-Vista user). It's making static/crackling sounds when I listen to music, or play games anything that makes sounds is getting disturbed by some kind of interrupting sound that makes crackling sounds..
Things I've tried:
1. I tried switching the cables (bought new ones)
2. I tried different speakers
3. I tried 2 different headphones
4. I tried cleaning my computer (dust)
5. I tried to get rid of any disturbing devices (phones, radios)
6. I tried uninstalling my device (HD audio device) and test it, and reinstall it, and test it again
7. I tried a reset boot (holding button for few seconds)
8. I got rid of my webcam it contained a microphone.

I'm having an issue with my audio that is driving me up a wall. I'm having that (apparently common) issue of crackling/popping/static-y audio on a Realtek chip. I've tried multiple drivers, from Realtek official to Generic to Vista ones. My latency graph has little to no spiking too! (A problem most people identified in the previous megathread). I know this is a solvable issue because previously I've had it under control. It was just so long ago and I've forgotten.[code] Bios, video card, and OS are up to date. If you need any other information I can get it.

I have been having for over 2 hours, but to no avail. Ever since I upgraded my previously windows vista computer up to windows 7, I have been having severe problems connecting to my home internet. Now, I cannot change any of my routers settings since they are my step fathers ,and he has a set username and password that I am not allowed to know. All other device in our house will connect just fine to our internet, and my laptop can connect to all other routers fine, this one is the only one I have problems with. What happens is that I get a "connected with limited access" error, and am completely unable to gain any internet access. I managed to set some static IP settings that allow me internet access, yet make things run more slowly and I am unable to connect with people properly in game, such as hosting a terraria server and other things like it. [code]
I have attempted uninstalling and reinstalling the network drivers, and when I troubleshoot problems when I'm not using the static IP, it says there is a problem but gives little to no information, while being unable to automatically solve the problem.Let me make it clear that when I was on windows vista, my connection was fine, and I still connect to every other network I try fine without the static IP. I have attempted to use ipconfig /remove and ipconfig /renew also to no avail, and I am really not sure what else I can do. The static IP allows me connection to the internet, but I am tired of it being slow and giving me trouble with connectivity.

I have a HP pavilion P6000 with windows 7.About a couple of months after I purchased the computer,I would turn it on and it would just loop the HP splash screen over and over. I called HP and after hours trying this and that I was told to disconnect any plugs from the computer and push the start button for 2 seconds to discharge any static then it would start right up, that worked for a few weeks Started happening over and over, sent the computer back to HP (after hrs. of tech support) they replaced the motherboard. That worked for about a month then same thing happened again.
Sent it back again (after hrs. of tech support) HP replaced something to do with the possessor, work for a while. Now every time I boot up I have the same problem again looping the HP splash screen until I discharge the static, then it works until I shut it off.

This isn't a question about a printer sitting somewhere in the house.During tax season we go to the local library to do free tax preparation. We use an online program. We plug in our Ethernet cable to the library's system and each laptop has a static IP to identify it to the network. What we would like to do now is bring in a wireless printer to use for tax forms. Attached directly to this printer is a small router we have used before. But if we simply pressed the print button, I suspect it might look on the libraries wireless network for that printer.Besides assigning a static IP to this printer, I'm thinking we might also have to include the MAC address as well so it finds that router connected to the printer.

Is it possible to use DHCP dynamic ip and static ip in one nic at the same time ? Like in xp via regedit ? Is it disabled to use them simultanously in Windows 7, one nic?
Google is full of "alternative config" suggestions, but they aren't what i'm looking for. (since it is for the "if DHCP isn't available" situation)

Just the other day I noticed when I was watching a movie on my computer with my headphones on then muted the sound I heard heavy static. I also have a Logitech mic that I just bought recently and when I played back my voice via from Audacity, all I heard was constant static noise. Are my speakers going out? Or do I need to update my sound card/driver? If so, what kind for a Windows 7 64 bit would I need to download?

I have Windows 7 Pro and I connect my laptop to many different customer networks. It does a nice job identifying the network and setting a default printer etc. However...
I have one customer with 15 cellular routers that I maintain. Each of them has a static LAN IP with DHCP turned off. As soon as I manually set the static IP Windows Identifies the network and I'm good. Then when I done I need to manually set the static IP back to DHCP. Is there any way for Windows to switch to a static IP that I assign when I plug into these routers?
or
Is there some third party software (free would be nice) that can do that?
My old IBM laptop had some software that did exactly that. I think it was called Access connections.
Any thoughts ideas or suggestions?

symptoms/occurrences:- playing online league of legends video game (biggest culprit, crashes 1 out of every 5 matches on average, sometimes just freezes with static sound, or sends me to bsod and shuts down)- sometimes afterwards will shut down again after gaming crash, for e.g. i played a Internet video and it crashed, restarted tried playing it again, crashed again.- sometimes crashes randomly, however it seems that when there is audio or video running, or high performance programs such as video games running, it is more prone to happen.have not done a memtest yet, but will probably do shortly, just need to go out and buy a blank cd.

How would I go about assigning different ip addresses (static) to different programs? Ill give you an example of what I mean. There is a Popular game called Minecraft (I don't know if you have heard it before, but It might help if you do know about this game) but I am planing on hosting multiple minecraft servers on one server (machine). So how do I get more static ip addresses (on one machine) so I can host more than one server on one machine?
since minecraft uses the port : 25565 would I be able to host a website on the same static ip address as a minecraft server since websites use different ports?

I am trying to create both a static and dynamic network for my computer to choose from when I connect my notebook to one of two locations. I want to create a LAN 1 which picks up the static info specific and an LAN 2 for my dynamic connection.
This is possible to do with operating systems such as ubuntu and it is very easy, however is it even possible with Windows 7? I tried this with Vista as well and failed.
Can anyone help. I am tired of going into the TCP IP settings and reconfiguring this everyday.
