Can Only Connect To Internet With Static Ip
Jun 28, 2012I have been having for over 2 hours, but to no avail. Ever since I upgraded my previously windows vista computer up to windows 7, I have been having severe problems connecting to my home internet. Now, I cannot change any of my routers settings since they are my step fathers ,and he has a set username and password that I am not allowed to know. All other device in our house will connect just fine to our internet, and my laptop can connect to all other routers fine, this one is the only one I have problems with. What happens is that I get a "connected with limited access" error, and am completely unable to gain any internet access. I managed to set some static IP settings that allow me internet access, yet make things run more slowly and I am unable to connect with people properly in game, such as hosting a terraria server and other things like it. I have attempted uninstalling and reinstalling the network drivers, and when I troubleshoot problems when I'm not using the static IP, it says there is a problem but gives little to no information, while being unable to automatically solve the problem.Let me make it clear that when I was on windows vista, my connection was fine, and I still connect to every other network I try fine without the static IP. I have attempted to use ipconfig /remove and ipconfig /renew also to no avail, and I am really not sure what else I can do. The static IP allows me connection to the internet, but I am tired of it being slow and giving me trouble with connectivity.

Feb 5, 2010I have Windows 7 Pro and I connect my laptop to many different customer networks. It does a nice job identifying the network and setting a default printer etc. However...
I have one customer with 15 cellular routers that I maintain. Each of them has a static LAN IP with DHCP turned off. As soon as I manually set the static IP Windows Identifies the network and I'm good. Then when I done I need to manually set the static IP back to DHCP. Is there any way for Windows to switch to a static IP that I assign when I plug into these routers?

Is there some third party software (free would be nice) that can do that?
My old IBM laptop had some software that did exactly that. I think it was called Access connections.
Any thoughts ideas or suggestions?
Create Both A Static And Dynamic Network
Oct 28, 2009I am trying to create both a static and dynamic network for my computer to choose from when I connect my notebook to one of two locations. I want to create a LAN 1 which picks up the static info specific and an LAN 2 for my dynamic connection.
This is possible to do with operating systems such as ubuntu and it is very easy, however is it even possible with Windows 7? I tried this with Vista as well and failed.
Can anyone help. I am tired of going into the TCP IP settings and reconfiguring this everyday.
Windows 7 Pro 32 Won't See Network, Won't Honor Static IPv4
Mar 18, 2012We set up three new terminals this week at the office; they're all running Win 7 Pro 32-bit. I set them all up simultaneously (literally sat at a desk and entered the same keystrokes at each of them), so I don't see any obvious reason that one is behaving differently from the other two. The essential problem is that the terminal doesn't see the Internet.
Here are all the particulars that I think might be interesting, listed in no particular order:
- The terminal ran fine for several hours. Email access, Internet access, from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. At that point, the user called me to show me a dialog box. I used System Restore to go back in time to 9 a.m. in case the user had somehow managed to do anything (though she's not an admin).
- IPv6 is disabled.
- The workplace uses Static IPs. The IP address is entered correctly in the IPv4 properties (x.x.x.213), but at cmd / ipconfig, I get this result: "Autoconfiguration IPv4 address: 169.254.95.187"
- In Network and Sharing Center, the network (which is only known as Unidentified Network) is set to type Public. When I reset it to type Work and reboot, it resets to type Public.

I am trying to connect to a network (I have a dell running on windows 7) and it keeps telling me that windows is unable to connect to the network-this is before I can even enter the security key. I know it is not a problem with the wireless because other people are able to connect to it fine.

Jan 12, 2012New Windows 7 Ultimate PC cannot connect to my home network or the internet for around 15-20 mins and then it will suddenly work. Windows reports 'No connections are available' and Occasionally jumps to 'identifying network' then back to 'No connections are available' until it gets a connection. Once connected everything works perfectly until i reboot the machine. The network connection is fine as other computers can connect quickly without problems through the same cable.

Aug 25, 2011I have 3 computers all running 64bit Windows Home premium all have 802.11n cards. 2 have no problem connecting to the wireless network the 3rd can see the network but won't connect or has the dreaded yellow exclamation mark with limited connectivity.
This seems to be a windows issue but not sure. When I look at the wireless profile in windows it says the security is WEP but the router is set up as WPA-2. I have tried changing the setting in Windows to WPA-2 but that then generates another error in the network discovery window saying the settings are not correct or something to that effect.
1) I have reinstalled the driver didn't work.
2) I have removed the security altogether didn't work.
3) reset the router didn't work (Although as stated earlier the other 2 computers connect with no problems)
4) Deleted wireless profile and started again didn't work.
The following worked untill I restarted the computer but would not after that even if I applied the same steps.
1) Assigned a static IP - This worked but once I restarted the computer it would no longer connect. Tired different IP address from 192.168.1-149. No joy
2)Copied the network profile from both the other machines same result as #1.

Sep 20, 2011I have been using windows 7 pto and xp pro on my laptop and desktop respectively. It was connected in same network from very beginning. I was in same workgroup. But as I reformatted my laptop cpl of days back I needed to connect it again with my xp desktop. since then I am not able to do so. Have been tried almost everything. I am in a same workgroup also have run the network wizard from xp. But nothing working. But just few hours ago i uninstalled few drivers (IPv6 related , not sure) while trying to connect from device manager.

Dec 27, 2011I have VPN service running on my Linksys DD-WRT router at home, so I can VPN back into my home network when using unsecured wireless internet on travel. I also have remote desktop port forwarding to my home machine if I want to just remote desktop in without using the VPN. However, often times I will VPN in, then remote desktop to my machine. Lately, I can VPN in, but can't see any other machines on the network so remote desktop to the machine's 192.168.x.x address on the local network doesn't work. I used to be able to do this and I'm not sure what has changed. The home machine runs Windows 7 and the laptop I use on the road for VPN'ing back in runs Windows XP. why after I VPN in to the home network I can't see any other machines on the network anymore? I have a folder shared on the home machine that I'd like to map to my laptop once I've VPN'ed in but can't do that either since it can't see the machine.
I've got all the sharing options enabled on the Windows 7 machine as well as the XP machine. Network discovery is turned on as well. No clue what has happened with this. The DHCP pool is 192.168.1.2-150 and the VPN pool consists of only 2 addresses of 192.168.1.160 and 192.168.1.161.

1- i can access all other pc's on the same network
2- other pc's on the same network can access \DINA-pc
3- Both DINA-PC and mine are allowing network discovery and file sharing and password protected sharing is off.

Other people on this network seem to connect fine (although they have had issues to) but I cant. I have 3 devices, all of which cant connect. On top of this, when i restart the computer or disconnect and reconnect adapter, I get internet access for about 20 seconds, enough time to load a google search or one webpage. however inevitably it always returns to the no internet access status.
