Can't Switch Graphic Cards On HP Pavilion DV7 6050ec
Jan 18, 2012
I just reinstalled my computer with windows 7 64bit and I have HP pavilion dv7 6050ec with two graphic cards : mobility radeon HD 6770M and a generic Intel HD Graphics Family. Since I reinstalled the computer, I no longer have to option to chose what graphic card I want to use. Before this reinstallation I could just right click on the desktop and there was a option that said Switch Graphical units, but now there is nothing like that. And I have the latest drivers for both graphic cards and latest Catalyst Control Center and Direct X installed. And in device manager all drivers are installed correctly.

It is possible to run ATI and nVidia cards together in Win 7? Because of nVidia PhysX. I know this was't possible on Vista's but I heard rumors that this is possible now.
I just installed Windows 7 ult 64bit, clean install with OEM OS. Will only recognize 1 of my graphic cards. Code 12 error. Like I said, clean install, no resources to shut down to make room for the 2nd card. Any thoughts on this would be greatly appreciated.
My comp broke down recently & I decided to built a new one, probably not necessary but I will add the specs below: [code] I had an old ATI Graphic Card Radeon X1300/X1500 (busted now) series card installed in my old pc, which would allow me to plug my TV with DVI-I & I could use my 23" Monitor through VGA cable in extended monitor. (& screen not referring to Cloning)However the Intel 3000 Graphic Card I am using lags alot when I play HD movies, but more importantly it doesn't allow me to use my TV output as Theater Mode.Where you play movie or video on small screen window on your primary monitor while it plays full screen on secondary screen. in ATI Cards its called Theater Mode while in Nvidia its called "Video Mirroring".Problem is New ATI or Nvidia Cards don't come with these feature anymore, I have Redeon 6790 card available but it doesn't have Theater Mode feature available, I have done 3 days worth of research so Nvidia stop the Video Mirroring feature by GForce 76xx series & ATI sort of ended by 4xxx Redeon. (I Believe)I need help finding a fast enough card that still provides Theater Mode (in 64 xp OR win 7) it can't be too old cause I do alot of Photoshop + HD Movies.
I tried using softwares like Ultra-Mon, Fusion Display & Secondary Display Video Player etc tweaked all the settings with Video Overlay etc. concluded that Intel HD Graphics series is biggest pieces of dog poo cards ever built. So please advise me which card to get which is old but fast enough & have Theater Mode or Video Mirroring feature.. (price range isn't issue nor manufacturer) however I do need to work on 64 bit to get full speed of both my processor & ram.
He installed PES (pro evolution soccer) in his com and it prompt him that his graphic card did not meet the requirement. He have at nvidia 525m GPU with 2gb vram it is impossible his laptop doesnt meet the requirement. So i guess is the sandybridge integrated graphic that is causing this. how to change to GPU? Note: His graphic card comes with optimus technology.
I have installed Windows Seven on my HP Pavilion laptop. Everything works just fine, except the Aero feature. The taskbar, for example, is dull and grey, instead of being glass-like and transparent. I did a problem sweep with Windows, and it said that I had to install the graphics card driver. I cannot seem to find it, however. What am I supposed to do?
when I install the graphic driver for windows 7 it gives me the BSOD when I boot up the computer. The reason is the nvlddmkm.sys file that gives the BSOD. The only way to boot it up is to run it in safe mode.
I got a hp pavilion dv9700 with nVidia GeForce 8600M GS with 512mb.
Whenever I switch user accounts the computer will start the switch and then lock up with a display message that says no signal on the monitor. It happens if the computer has been running for hours or only a couple of minutes. I have to shut the PC off and leave it off for 20-30 minutes. I can then restart and enter any user account. But if I try to switch user or logoff and pick a different user the whole cycle begins anew.
I'm contemplating buying a graphic card, but have no clue on which one to get! I'm not really playing games, mostly for my graphic drawing programs. So looking at my specs what would you guys suggest?
I use windows 7.When I turn on laptop (acer Aspire 5742) cannot connect to internet until I switch user and log in again. Soon as I touch any browser icon the rest of computer stops responding as well. It's only me on computer. Have virgin media security/ spyware/ virus protection. Tried CCleaner. After I switch user everything is fine.Additional info; On 16th October had great difficulty getting my emails from Yahoo. Sometimes sign-in box appeared without my security signature and different style of writing for browser remembered log-on details.
I have sent in my computer to get repaired and got it back yestersay. Since then i've been trying to get it to work properly again.I can't play any of the games I used to play before I sent it in to get repaired (for example, Battlefield 3). I can start dota2 but it looks pretty messed up. My computer shows me that I have an nvidia geforce 7025 nforce 630a graphic card.Although it says in the computer description that it SHOULD have a AMD HD 6870 1GB GDDR 5. My screen isn't plugged in the graphic card, since it doesn't recieve anything from there. It is plugged directly to the motherboard. So, from what I understand the nvidia card is the integrated graphic card or am I totally wrong?Anyway, the device manager can only find the nvidia card and I cannot run any game smoothly on this computer. Before I realized this possibility I've tried to download newer drivers for the nvidia card, but it didn't help.
I have two 9500GT video cards one id Evga and one is BFG they are both 1GB DDR2. I have looked into it but you experts will know. I think it's possible to set up a crossfire configuration. It might not be worth doing but i would mostly do it for fun and to see if I can get it working. My current mobo supports it and would like to play with it.
Is it possible with the same GPU but different companies and possibly slightly different specs on the rest of the card? I thought if it the same GPU you could do it.
Also you might know if I can make a USB install flash drive with professional and use it to install home premium or ultimate as long as I have the licence keys?
i just installed the latest build of Windows 7 (build 7100). and there are a few problems with my graphics options. There are 2 systems that i tried this on and both are having the same problem. The first setup has a Ati Radeon X1650 by MSI, and the drivers install, signed by WDDM. Now the monitor/tv that i am using is a 42inch LCD TV, and has the 1920x1080 resolution, that is its native resolution. Windows 7, supports the resolution and has it as the recommended resolution, however, when i select it, my monitor says "mode not supported" this is the same problem i have with the HD2600XT card from ATI.
Both of these cards work in Vista Ultimate, Vista Home Premium, Vista Business, and XP Pro SP3 and XP Home SP3, and even tried Server 2008 and server 2003. all of those OS's work with the native resolution on the monitor except the Windows 7 builds. anyone have an idea why this would be??
also, for the HD2600XT i did install the latest ati driver 9-4, and nothing is fixed. right now i am running it at 1280x768, but its skewed.
if anyone has any info on this it would be great, as i have tried everything.
i have also tried installing the 9-3 drivers on both cards, manually and using the installs. the manual way was to unzip the driver package and in device manager install the drivers myself.
The one system i have plugged into it now is a Shuttle Barebone SG31G2B, 4 GB of ddr2/800 ram, quad core q6600 2.4ghz, and the hd 2600xt.
When I put a CF or an SDHC card in the internal (USB) cardreaderor in an external (USB) cardreader, those cards are not seen, although the readers are seen alright. When I disconnect the internal reader, put a card in it, and connect it again to USB, the card is seen. Take the card out, put it in again; no card. Same with he external reader.I checked Device Manager on possible wrong settings, but couldn't find anything.
The problem is that no kinds of storage cards are currently working perfect on my computer. For an example no phones can be connected, have tryed 2 htc's with microsd cards, and a sony ericson with an m2 card, and same problem. Also if i try to open any SD cards, like camera it dosent work. The thing is that it comes up as removable drive, but when i try to open it it just says please insert card. I have tryed deleting, installing reformatting drivers, and cards like crazy and its the same. I have also tryed changing the drive letters around but the issue is the same. The only thing that makes the work is the following: If i leave the card in the cardreader, or a phone connected, then restarts the pc whitout removing the card or phone, then it works when its rebooted. but asoon as i remove the card/phone and reinsert them the issue is still there "please insert card".I have even changed the motherboard, cpu, and memory, and formated the computer 3 times but still same issue. So im thinking that windows is installing wrong driver or something? [code] Also the issue was the same on my old computer also running windows 7 that had a socket 775 build.
Dont know if it should be in here Toshiba Flash Cards is a program that runs when you press 'FN' it displays a top flash card thingy that allows you to use the FN -> F2 etc... keys cant get this to work on windows 7 though anyone got any ideas ill try a few more things i think might be able to fix it but does anyone else have any ideas?
UPDATE: seems to be a error with KeNotify.exe...... When i press FN it crashes KeNotify
UPDATE 2: Running in Compatibility and/or Running as administrator still makes it crash.
i usually record PC games using fraps and it got me thinking to how do people record console footage and then put it on the computer. The problem is i dont know the first thing about gaming capture cards and how they work, i do know however that some of them are PCI cards.
1. if a console is connected to a T.V how is the footage captured from the console to a PC?
2. Does using capture cards also provide audio or do you need certain cables (3.5 jacks, hdmis, etc)
I built a HTPC with a video card that does DVI and hdmi. The motherboard has a VGA.
But I also need either: s-video or composite What should I do? I don't want to like "downgrade" the video card and just use an old one for everything. Can I run them both? Like switch back and forth? "Simultaneous" is not required.
Also, I would already be using the PCIE 2.0x16 for the video card. I have PCIEx1 and PCI slots open. EDIT: I found this... [URL]
Would this work in letting me switch between the onboard video and the video card?
i have got a new PC and was wondering if i could use my Nvidia Geforce GT 440 with my Nvidia Geforce gt 220 at the same time? I want this setup so i can get more fps on my games. I have a custom built gaming PC and i really want good gaming proformance.
I have an old HP Proliant PC that I upgraded to Windows 7 Professional. There are only two PCI-X slots (one half height and the other full height). This is not PCI-Express or plain PCI.i need to add a video card to support a higher resolution monitor. There is an ATI Radeon 9200 PCI-X card out there, but it is not supported with Windows 7. Since this card type is more than 10 years old and operating systems have moved on, I need to know where to find a new PCI-X graphics card (or used) that will support higher resolution. If a standard PCI card will fit in the slot, will it work and what is the down side.no drivers for Windows 7 with PCI-X.
