I have a toshiba satellite L505 it boots I get the password screen it's blue looks more like bios password it certainly not the windows boot splash screen I have tried a couple of password freebies it won't recognize cd rom, or flash stick...it goes directly to the old blue screen box like if you are resetting you use the f2 f8 f10 f12 key as booting, but that even asks for a password?

View 4 Replies View RelatedI have set up a Windows 7 machine that shares out a hard drive as a network share along with printers to our network. On another computer I was mapping the network drive and accidentally entered the wrong credentials (wrong user name) and choose the remember credentials setting, and it would not let me map the drive.
I tried to go back in and remap the drive again but Windows is remembering the user name/password and I can't map it. I can map the drive from any other computer just fine. Does anyone know how to make Windows forget the credentials so I can map the drive?

I've seen a few similar issues posted here and I've tried the suggestions but they didn't work. I've tried running maintenance tasks, but they crash in the middle (related to the error messages I think). I also had the problem of whenever I started my computer or opened it, the internet would shut off. My screen would blink off and then on. View 8 Replies View RelatedI have a small home network set up with 4 PCs (1 laptop & 3 desktop). I can see all my computers in my networks but I cannot connect to one of my desktops using my laptop. All the other computers/laptops can read and transfer files without a problem except for the laptop connecting to one of the PCs.
Both the laptop and the PC that is asking for a network password are on the same version of Windows 7 Home. I have file and printer sharing enabled. All are on the same workgroup. I have firewall off and I have turned off password protected sharing yet when I try to connect or print from my laptop to the one PC it asks for a password and I can't figure out why.
This only started recently a week ago. Prior to that never had this problem and shared files/printer without a problem
I forgot the password hint too. what else can I do? can I wipe it clean and start over? how do i do that? its a new laptop so there's nothing on it that has me in fear of the delete button.

After restart to get the computer name change to take, I can't login to the computer. I did not setup an admin acct and can't login that way. I tried F8 system repair to reset to factory settings but a password is required. I went to F2 and set a user password on security, but it only works to get into the function keys. I would like suggestions of what to do to get into my laptop. I didn't get a restore disc with the machine, but created a restore on an external hard drive.

View 2 Replies View RelatedA few days ago, I plugged my iphone into my laptop and my computer froze up. I hard booted it and the computer booted up to what looked like the screen that you get when you hard boot it, I went ahead and pressed F1 to resume and what looks like a bios password box comes up asking me for a password. I never put a password on the Bios. So I tried to use my login password and got a password failed message. I tried again and the computer flashed and turned itself off. I turned the computer on again and I get to the Toshiba loading screen where you can select F2 or F12, I select nothing and it brings me to the password window.
I pulled the HD and was able to hook it up via serial to my other laptop and save all my stuff.
I'm at a loss of what to do, I have read some of the other posts and one of them suggested I reset the jumpers and replace the battery. I am not familiar with laptops, do they also have bios batteries and where might I find it inside the case?

How do I set up a password to log into the computer? If the computer is on, I don't want the kids to be able to blindly go to the internet. I want to make it so I have to log back in to use the computer.
