I have a new gateway all in one touchscreen and I have tried to download iTunes several times but I keep getting a message saying that the windows is invalid I have spoken with the computer company and they said that it is a problem with iTunes now I can't get iTunes to help.

I've tried the steps to change the install to the c drive, but when I get to the install page it reverts to the w drive and will not let me select c drive. This is making me nuts. Then, I used task manager to close the window. Then, I restart the computer. Now, I see many of my desktop icons missing and also my documents missing. However, those documents are availble in a folder called UsesDell folder in C drive. Apart from these problems, the fonts of the internet explorer has changed and its like using a new computer where I have to install programs again.
View 2 Replies View RelatedLast night, whilst plugging my iphone 4 s into my windows 7 based PC with 64 bit to back up my phone things went horribly wrong.The system told me in itunes that i need to down load the latest upgrade for itunes.I tried this and with my phone plugged in through a USB port to charge it went haywire.At the same time, as i was down loading the latest itunes 10.6 update, up pops the words "A network error occured while attempting to read from the file: C:windows installeritunes 64 msi". So i went back to the download page and clicked on the other download link and this time this message came up;This itunes installer is intended for 32 bit versions of windows. Please download and instal the 64-bit itunes installer instead.I could not find that installer so used other recommended installers, to no avail.I tried re-installing the 64 bit version at least 6+ times from other sites, but the same error message keeps coming up as the 1st one i wrote above.My iphone 4s is stuck on a picture showing a USB cable going to an itunes symbol. It will do nothing. It won't turn on/off and now my computer won't even recognize it when plugged in! Where did the driver go all of a sudden?I reset my PC to a couple of days ago, then tried loading the program again, made no difference. View 9 Replies View RelatedI previously had iTunes installed on my laptop (see specs below), but when the newest version came out, I kept getting error messages (shown below) when I tried to update to the latest version. Therefore, I completely removed iTunes from my laptop with the goal of doing a re-install from scratch. However, I continue to receive the same error messages as before (I say "continue" because I've tried several times with the same result each time). The installation begins without any problems, but after a few seconds, I get the first error message (see below), and then when I click OK, it runs for a few more seconds, and I get the second error message (see below). I am not having any other problems with my system, and I have run several anti-malware and -virus scans to make sure the problem in not an infection?And, by the way, the same thing happens when I right click the iTunes set-up icon and select "Run as Administrator".

I have just bought an iPad and have to update my version of iTunes.Currently I am running version 10:4:1:10 and need to update to 10:6:3. I have downloaded iTunes no problem but at the end of installation I get the following message "There is a problem with this Windows Installer package. A programme for this install to complete could not be run. Contact your support personnel or package Vendor".I have gone into services.msc and to the windows installer and run Start and also changed from manual to automatic to no avail.I am running Windows 7 64 bit with McAfee anti-virus software.

When I am prompted to download the newest version of itunes it gets to about 75% on the progress bar then completely freezes indefinitely. I don't get any error messages, it just stops progressing with the installation. I think its 10.5.3.
I have administrator rights on my Windows 7 account, and I always have problems installing programs. Usually it is with a folder called config.msi. I don't have write permission for that folder and when I install anything I get multiple error messages about it.I have been unable to install the latest Itunes, and I tried to install it manually. Everything went fine, except for the usuall config.msi errors, until the final part of the install. It said it did not have permission to access the itunes folder in program files. I looked at the properties of the folder, and I did not have write permission. The Itunes installer undid the entire install and deleted the itunes folder.When I go to the program files folder, I do not have write access to it, and I cannot change it. I followed the instructions in this forum to enable the administrator account, and could not get write access to that folder from administrator either.The error messages I get look like there is another account out there that is a superuser. Is there any cure for this?

Please reinstall iTunes."I had heard that if I uninstalled Quicktime (which is bundled with iTunes when that is downloaded), then reinstalled it separately, it would work again, but after trying that it didn't. So I decided to just uninstall iTunes, then reinstall it. However, every time I try to uninstall it in Add/Remove Programs, it just sits there saying it'll be about eight more seconds to go to finish deleting, but it just sits, and sits, and sits...... Nothing. I also tried to just install the newest iTunes on top of the existing one, but every time I try it tells me that it's already installed and to click "Ok." So I can't uninstall it, nor can I install it, nor will iTunes open on its own. I had done a system restore recently, so I don't know if that had anything to do with it.

View 2 Replies View RelatedI have tried using the 64 bit version of itunes on windows 7 64 bit. What I noticed immediately was that windows 7 installed it under the x86 program folders. When I am running iTunes it freezes ALL the time making it completely useless. Especially when I am downloading...it simply stops downloading and stops responding. Does anyone have a fix for these issues or am I on my own till M$ starts releasing some updates. At this point I am currently switching my system from a main OS of windows 7 to a vista-7 dual boot because of this issue.

From a lynda.com training video about using iTunes, I learned that there is a folder called "Automatically Add to iTunes", which is monitored by iTunes for new files to import into the iTunes library. However, I would like to know if this is the best way to do this. For example, can I just *move* my 3,000 music files into this 'Automatically Add to iTunes' folder and then let iTunes do its thing?* ill iTunes *move*the files that it is able to manage*OUT*of this folder and into one of its managed folders, such that there would be no duplicate file left behind? Is it correct in saying that the files that are left in this folder that were not able to be handled by iTunes and must be handled differently before they can be imported into iTunes. Or is there just an all around different, and better, way to get these music files into iTunes?
The other question I have involves 'restoring' a previous iTunes library that was backed up to disc (CD or DVD). I have a couple of these and want to _merge_ them with my existing (current) iTunes files, but in a way that I don't have 2 folders for some artists and double tracks, etc. How can I *best* import these iTunes library back ups into my latest iTunes installation.Last is a question which is about ripping my audio CDs into iTunes. I have 2 optical drives on my computer, and I would like to know which one will be most efficient at ripping audio CDs into iTunes. Is there someway to test the read / error correct speed of both drives to get an idea of which one is going to be faster?
I have just found to my irritation that iTunes _will_ check CD info such as song names etc. ....however....
Every now and then it fails to find info. It almost seems as if it does not even try. Usually when I insert a CD, it tells me it's checking with Gracenote, and in short order the details pop up. Then suddenly it will just not get details. I have read the instructions and reasons why.
What does not make sense is that in two instances, Disc 2 of a double disc set will register, but disc one will not. This has happened with Physical Graffiti, by Led Zeppelin, and a Best Of by Faith No More. Of the maybe 1/2 doz CDs that have failed so far, the others were single disc. The failures have failed in spite of repeated attempts, restarts and even a reboot. All the failures were pretty popular, and what I thought were far more obscure stuff worked fine.
EDIT: I now have three double CD sets that have had the first disc fail, while the second gets info. So that is over-represented, but not exclusive: that is to say I have had double CD sets that worked, and single CDs that have failed to supply info from the web.

View 3 Replies View RelatedI've been having problems for a few weeks with a crashing computer. When I tried to open "Programs and Features", it would crash every time. No crash dumps. No BSOD. Just a hard reboot like some yanked the plug out. It would also happen randomly.
After running countless tests on hardware, checking for viruses, and TWO re-format and clean installs, I finally isolated the problem to iTunes. I was just about finishing my 2nd rebuild, and it was working just fine. I installed the iTunes 10 64-bit version, and BAM, it started crashing. I then installed Revo Uninstaller, and removed iTunes and all of the other Apple crap from my machine. Voila! No more problems.

I recently switched from Mac to PC, and I would like to transfer my iTunes library (preferably with all the playlists intact) via external harddrive. I uploaded all my iTunes data to the drive making sure to consolidate my library first so that all my playlist/rating data would be uploaded as well. I have about 12,000 songs, so this process took several hours.I hooked up my drive to my PC, and I tried dragging the music folder to various locations (My Music, desktop, etc.)It seems like the copying process starts (it says time/speed is calculating and that it is starting to detect more and more GB of data), but then it mysteriously stops and the update box disappears. There is no error message. When I try to drag it one more time, nothing happens.
View 1 Replies View RelatedI recently got a bug in my computer and Windows couldn't open! I had to do a Samsung Recovery . Backed up everything to the 'D' drive and then loaded back to the 'C' drive. Since then I have found that Films on iTunes won't 'play' . Everythign else works fine - if I click on a DVD video in the music side, it works fine. When I click to play a Trailer of a Film I just get a black rectangle on my screen, when I run the mouse across it, I see the control bar become visible but totally black...... the trailer is playing and I can see it tracking across the bar at the top of the iTunes page.
