Can't Install Windows 7 Ultimate On New Build
May 15, 2012
I have just built a new computer -
Asus Sabertooth P67 B3
Intel i7 2600K (2nd Gen)
Seagate Barracuda 1TB 32mb cache
ATI Radeon HD 6870
Corsair 16gb DDR3 1600mHz
Thermaltake TR2 RX 650w
LG BDrom/DVDwriter
This is my first build. I have upgraded Mobo bios to 3209. I get the BSOD when I try to load Windows 7 Ultimate 64bit. [0x0000007E] I know I have probably missed something.

I just finished building my first gaming rig (WoooT!) and it works (DOUBLE WOOT!) and now I have to install Windows 7. The catch is my mom's company has free copies from her work that are stored online in an FTP site. Can I access those from the BIOS or is there any other way I can get to them and install without having a running operating system on my computer? I don't have a USB of Windows or any other software and I got sold a fake copy (at least I'm pretty damn sure it is) from Ebay and I really don't want to use that.
I go out and buy another DVD of Windows 7?

Finally got assembled, everything in BIOs looks detected to the best of my knowledge. But I'm trying to get Windows 7 installed, and the boot order will not change.
Using a Gigabyte P67A-D3-B3 and an older harddrive that has Windows XP on it. I was under the impression that I could boot from the CD and just overwrite the old Windows.
But everytime I turn it on it just goes to start XP then I get a blue screen. I've changed the boot order to properly boot from cdrom first. (There is another menu accessed by F12 on gigabyte bios called boot order which doesn't seem to work either)
I tried taking the battery out after changing settings and draining it, but this brought me to a Checksum Bios Error screen where it seemed to go back to the old settings?

I just built a new PC and when i first installed windows it kept freezing during boot up so i decided to reinstall it. When I try to reinstall it, it gets past the point where it says installing updates when it restarts, and then it just gets stuck on a screen that says "setup is starting services".

Just built a brand spanking new rig (specs below), and I installed windows 7 onto my SSD (No Problem!) and proceeded to install drivers, format my extra drive and start installing other software and etc. Then randomly I would get a blue screen telling me some sort of data dump message and the system would reboot normally. This persisted and I booted in safe mode a few times no problem. This morning I tried to boot and Windows 7 froze on the "starting Windows" screen, no colored orbs here. Since then I have attempted to reinstall windows onto my SSD(same freezing issue even after waiting over 40 min.), install windows on my hdd(same issue) and boot without various components(video card, cd drive etc) to no avail. I also flashed the latest BIOS via USB and have attempted boots w/o usb, intel smart connect and rapid start, and other possible solutions.

my Dell Studio XPS 1645 (laptop).
To give you some background, I purchased this machine from Dell a little over a year ago it came pre-installed with Windows 7 Premium Home Edition. Since that time the computer has been terrific (aside from running a bit too hot for my liking), and I really have experienced no performance issues.
A week ago Sunday (7/31) I was poking around my taskbar and noticed that I had some updates to install from Microsoft I always thought these were automated but apparently the service pack isnt how long that potential update was sitting there, could have been a while. Regardless, I decided to upgrade to service pack 1 and for about a week nothing dramatic happened.
However, beginning yesterday my computer started to behave a bit odd, almost as if I had a virus. My Internet stopped working, I was getting random errors when attempting to open files. I was getting absolutely pummeled with windows errors (i.e not genuine, windows has stopped working etc. etc.). I was ultimately met with a flashing white screen and computer crash. I attempted a re-start and was met with a blue screen, safe mode wouldnt work, and ultimately after a couple tries it just seemed to randomly start. On that re-start though, I was met with text at the bottom right hand of my screen that said Windows 7 Build 7601 not genuine.
Luckily I have a work PC so Ive been able to do some research online (the impacted machine behaves extremely odd when I get it started). There are TONS of posts about this windows not genuine issue but Ive been struggling identifying the same symptoms I have. Also, it looks like this is a legit result of trying to use pirated software, so I want to make sure that any fix I pursue isnt the Hey this is how you get your pirated software to work! fix but rather the known Microsoft issue these are the best next steps fix.
Thus far Ive attempted a few things (uninstalling SP1, system restore, activating windows online) and all 3 have been met with failure. Basically my computer will freeze, or go through the iteration and nothing will happen. Ive included the diagnostic below
Code: Diagnostic Report (1.9.0027.0):

Recently completed my first computer build and am trying to install windows with a raid 0 on 2 500g HDD. I have it set up in the BIOS for 1-4 and 5-6 sata ports to RAID. When I boot from the dvd drive with the windows disk, after clicking install windows, it says: "a required cd/dvd drive device driver is missing" I figured this was a driver for the raid but i cant find it anywhere. if i select browse, there is a boot (x folder but i dont see anything in there that would help me. Do i need to download a driver to a usb stick and pull it off there? adn if yes where could i get the driver? i cant find it on the asus website.
here is my setup:
asus m5a97 LE R2.0 mobo
XFX Radeon 7870
AMD 8350 Processor

I've gathered all the parts for my new build but am not sure what order to tackle the software part. I'm confident I am able to strap it all together its only the tech stuff that scares me.
1. Strap everything together (minus graphics card)
2. Power on
3. Update bios via usb
4. Install windows 7
5. Do I update chipset and all other mobo drivers? or is windows update competent enough to do this?
6. Plug in graphics card
7. Boot up and install graphics card software.
Here's what I am working with:
P8z68 LX LGA mobo
i5 2500k
Sapphire 6850
Seagate 1tb HDD
Gskill value 1333 ram
Asus cd drive
Windows 7 Home

I am unable to install Windows 7 or XP on my new build. I own a Windows 7 Professional 64-Bit Disc and the XP Disc is from my old PC. After choosing to boot from my optical drive, I receive a Windows Boot Manager scree that tells me that Windows has encountered a problem communicating with a device connected to your computer.
Status: 0xc00000e9
I have tried the following:
- Rebooting my PC and only having my SSD connected to my MB (no beeps)
- Rebooting my PC and only having my HDD connected to my MB (no beeps)
- Trying both of my HDDs connected to my MB (no beeps)
- Having both of my HDDs disconnected. (no beeps)
- Trying to install Windows XP, but I received a similar error (no beeps)
- Changed the SATA mode in my BIOS from ACHI to IDE - (my pc then made loud, rapid, and continuous beeps)
Do I have to send my drives back for an RMA or is my MB bad? Everything is powering on, but I do not know what the problem is. Could it be my SATA 6GB/s cables?
Build:
- Motherboard: ASUS P8 Z68-V/Gen 3
- Processor: Intel i5 2500k
- Memory: G.Skill 4GB x 2 DDR3 PC12800
- Graphics Card: Nvidia GTX 560ti
- PSU: Corsair HX850
- Optical Drive: Samsung 12X S-ATA Blu Ray Drive
- SSD: Crucial M4 128 GB → SATA III → SATA 6GB/s
- HDD: WD Caviar Blue 500 GB → 16MB cache → 7200 RPM → SATA 6GB/s

My current system was upgraded to windows 7 32bit from vista 32bit (I bought the windows 7 home premium upgrade disc when it was first released). I am going to build a complete new system. Can I install windows 7 64bit from the same windows 7 disc? Or do I have to buy a new windows 7 disc? Is there a way around buying a whole new disc?

There has, so far, been no issues with drivers for 7000 for the Acer 5920gmi that I use. To disable my touchpad I installed the Synaptics driver just to disable the touchpad.
All drivers installed during installation and on first update the rest were installed.

I just finished a new build, and ready to setup with raid0 and win7 64bit.After reading several posts in several categories, I am unsure of the correct sequence of events. I think it is - boot with windows install disk, enter bios, setup raid0, then do windows install to raid array. I will be adding the 2nd set of ssd's for raid 1 in 3-4 days, and was wondering if there was any benefit to wait on the install, set up both raid 0 and raid 1 before the windows install. The ssd's are all 128 GB, the raid0 on sata III 6 gbs ports, the raid 1 will be on the 3gbs ports.

This is a new computer build that I finished a few days ago. I've updated the BIOS, set up a RAID 1 configuration through Intel Rapid Storage Technology/through the BIOS. I installed Windows 7 x64 Ultimate and have begun to migrate my programs and data over from my previous machine. This process has been paused because I am experiencing BSOD. There are two which have occurred:
0x0000001a - MEMORY_MANAGEMENT
0x00000050 - PAGE_FAULT_IN_NON_PAGED_AREA
I ran a Windows Memory Diagnostic test overnight - no problems were found. I've updated all my drivers. I have followed the BSOD posting instructions and SF Diag Tool instructions, and also googled effortlessly regarding these Stop codes.

I am currently running OS 7 Beta RC Build 7100. Were do I get this newer version, is there a big difference? And am I able to upgrade to the newer Beta?
I realize that October is fast approaching for the RTM but I plan to keep running the Beta for a couple of months past the Grand Opening.
Is it possible that all the updates that I have received equally add up to the newer build?

First here are my specs:
Acer Extensa 5620 (Laptop)
Intel Core2Duo T5250 1.5GHZ
2GB DDR2 RAM 533 MHZ ( I think)
120 GB HDD
I'm not too sure on the motherboard So I formatted my WinXP drive, and tried to install Windows 7 Ultimate x86.Everything went fine until after the first reboot, "completing installation" it would just crash and everything froze, making me have to do a 5 sec forced shutdown. Then I tried again about 3 more times...Still same problem.I didn't get a photo, but here is an image I found on google images, similar to my situation, except for my laptop, it has stripes like that but the original image still is in the background.

The way I have things set up right now is I've got Windows 7 Ultimate 32-bit on my netbook and it's dualboot with Ubuntu 12.04 32-bit (beta); what I want to do (and I'm not sure if this is even possible) is get my existing Windows 7 installation to work in VirtualBox inside Ubuntu.Basically what I want to do, is dualboot Windows 7 but also be able to run that same installation (with all programs and settings) in a virtual machine when in Ubuntu.Anyways, is this even possible? And if so, how do I do this?(currently I'm trying to figure it out myself but I haven't had any luck; although I have yet to try everything)And the point is to be able to still dualboot while at the same time being able to run the same installation in a VM if needed.

I bought Windows 7 Ultimate which comes with the 32bit and 64bit dvd's. Right now I have the Windows 7 RC1 32bit installed but as we all know its gonna start acting up in March since it will start to expire. As the computer boots up with the dvd in the drive, all works fine until it starts asking for the dvd drivers. Yes, my drive is IDE. Not SATA. Do I really have to go buy a SATA cabled dvd drive to install windows 7? Second, is the fact that I have a 32 bit OS now, affecting the fact that it can't find the drivers? Is it because it's looking for 64 bit drivers when I have a 32 bit os now? I've already read up on this issue for the dvd drivers and it seems it was coming up alot even before the RTM versions and it seemed that redownloading an ISO was the solution aside from getting a SATA drive. But, I didn't download my copy. I have a real disc. I've already tried switching in the BIOS where my drive is set to RAID and moving it to IDE and then to the other option on there and no luck so far on getting it installed.
