I just got new SSD to replace a secondary regular HD that died. When i plug in the 2 sata cables that the previous HD drive was using and boot up the computer, the new ssd hows up as the main drive and the primary one is not shown in the BIOS so i cant load windows.
When i unplug the cables the computer works as normal again.
The sata power connectors are all links together (i think its some kind of 4 head power connector, its a prebuilt) if that makes any difference.

So earlier this year I constructed my first computer, which I sunk about 2k into and made fantastic . But, having no experience, I installed a 32 bit Windows 7 OS, thereby limiting my available RAM. Since I am a gamer, this is a bit of an issue. Now I have a new SSD, and I was wondering if I could simply load a 64 bit OS onto that drive and boot from there, thereby avoiding the reformatting of my current drive.
The primary drive is a 1TB regular hard drive, the secondary is a 64Gig Samsung 830 SSD.

I currently have a standard computer setup with a windows 7 operating system installed. What I want to do is dual boot with Windows 7 as my primary os but using an esata cable connect the hard drive from my laptop to the computer and have this as a secondary boot option. The laptop hard drive has a full install of vista on it. Is this possible, every time I think about doing it I worry about the drivers on the laptop hdd and how those will react to my main computers hardware as obviously the laptop hardrive is setup to look at the laptop hardware.

I recently reformatted my Windows 7 32bit system on my primary HDD (C). When I open My Computer, my secondary HDD (D) appears, but when I try to open it, it shows as empty. However, if I look at the properties of D, it says that only 200gb out of 500gb of free space is available. I booted into a live version of Ubuntu and the secondary HDD appears with all data in it and accessible, so I know there is nothing physically wrong with the drive. I know that I could brute force this problem by making a copy of the drive in Ubuntu, then reformatting it in Win7, but I'm hoping there's an easier solution that I'm just not aware of.

Check my Hardware specs for full information
Current setup:
C: Boot, Corsair SSD
D: Files, samsung HDD
D:/boot files/user/(all user account directories moved here, when possible) I'm wondering if it's possible to install games such as Assasins' Creed or Skrym, but install all game data to this folder?D:/boot files/programs/* Many installers allow you to define a custom installation path, But I am unsure if these games would ask for one or force me to install to the default directory?

Ran into issues on build day 2 days ago with crashing driver issues etc. installing drivers was actinglike fliles were corrupt even off the disks.I replaced cables on drives, swapped the Bios for the SATA ports to mimic IDE, installed new version of windows with the Seagate not plugged in. Installed drivers for Mother Board rebooted to Bios swapped back from IDE on the SATA.Puts around a bit no real issues, installed the data drive rebooted and started to install software from steam and origin as well as Windows updates.BSOD a few times,Logged off ran memtest over night passed all 7 tests, ran again on each stick all passed.Windows is freezing trying to install all the updates that is the latest bsod in the log file.the 2tb drive is still uninstalled but seems stable. Not sure what is causing this, I did run CCleaner a few mins ago and it puked a ton of registery errors cleaned them up ran again found more, cleaned now it says it is clean. Here is the zip I am at wits end and do not want to RMA the Seagate if i dont have to but willing to if you all think that is my problem.

I recently had an older HP Pavilion Media Center m7760n Desktop PC rebuilt. The old power supply fried the motherboard so I need to get a new power supply and motherboard. Here are my current specs.
Mainboard : Asus P5QPL-VM EPU
Chipset : Intel G41
Processor : Intel Core 2 Duo E6420 @ 2133 MHz
Physical Memory : 2048 MB (2 x 1024 DDR2-SDRAM )
Video Card : Intel(R) G41 Express Chipset (Microsoft Corporation - WDDM 1.1)
Hard Disk : WDC (1000 GB)
[code]....
As you can see from above, the "video card" is actually integrated into the motherboard. The computer works perfectly except for one major problem. I have 2 monitors, one is 22" with 1680 x 1050 resolution and the other is a 15" monitor with 1024 x 768 resolution. At the back of my computer I have a VGA port and a DVI port. The 15" is connected to the VGA port and the 22" is connected to the DVI port. When first starting the computer, the 15" monitor was recognized as the primary monitor while the 22" was recognized as the secondary monitor. No problem. I simply went to the display settings and set the 22" to be the primary monitor and the 15" to be the secondary monitor. Unfortunately, this setting seems to reset as soon as I reboot the computer. The 15" is always set as the primary monitor on start up, forcing me to set the proper settings all over again. What's worse is that even after I have set the proper settings, they sometimes revert back when using Media Center or other programs. Worse yet, sometimes the monitors both go completely black ... as if the monitor settings were about to switch but got locked up some how.I'm assuming that perhaps the on board video has a primary port (VGA) and a secondary port (DVI) but even still, shouldn't Windows 7 be able to over-ride this and save these settings so that the monitor settings remain the same during startup and regular usage?

So I just reinstalled windows on my new SSD. I'm trying to load all my music into itunes and redirect folders/downloads/document buttons into files from my main storage HDD (1TB seagate barracuda) and it keeps telling me that I don't have permission to access these files/folders!
So I can keep going in and individually enabiling sharing each folder, but is there some type of universal sharing option?

I've recently built a new PC, it's my first build and I've managed to solve most problems that have occurred but I'm stuck on this one. It will load games fine if i load them straight from turning on the PC but if i run it for a while then load a game it resets itself, and doesn't leave and mini/memory dumps. The system runs fine normally and even with some old games but if i load a new game such as civilization 5 on steam or try running examples in UDK it resets.
Specs:
Mobo: Asus Maximus IV Extreme
CPU: Intel Core i7 - 2600k
Ram: 8GB G.Skill RipjawsX
Graphics: Sapphire Radeon HD 7970 3GB
PSU: Antec High Current Pro HCP -750
SSD: Samsung 830 256GB
HD: Seagate Barracuda 2TB
Cooling: Antec Kuhler H20 920
OS: Windows 7 64bit Home Premium
At first i thought it was overheating but I've checked and the CPU and graphics card don't reach anywhere near a hot temperature before it crashes. I've also taken it to a local computer repair shop and the tests they ran all passed (i don't know what the tests they ran are but i'm going to call them tomorrow and find out / tell them it still crashes)

I am an IT professional however cannot figure out this issue on my my machine and its driving me nuts
I have Win 7 64 Ultimate on RC build 7100 and everything runs fine, however since next week the OS will expire and my machine will reset every 2 hours therefore i upgraded to the official Win 7 64 Ultimate and the blooming machine gives me a BSOD every time I try and install something on my secondary drives (d: e: f: )
Thought it was an AVG issues or access privileges since my other drives where formatted on other previous OS`s (c: for windows, d: for games, etc.) However it now even seems to be doing it if I try and install stuff on C: - now I have a hunch it might be AVG FREE causing the issues, dunno, any suggestions would be appreciated.

Is it possible to install Windows 7 to an eSATA HD then install that drive internally to another as primary OS?

I have a Core 2 Duo PC with 2 SATA internal drives:
Seagate 320 gig, with C and D partitions. C contains a legit retail upgrade version of Vista Home. D is for data.
Western Digital 640 gig, with a single E partition, currently used as backup.
I ordered a Windows 7 Home Premium retail upgrade at the discounted price a few months ago and expect it in a month.
My Seagate drive is running low on space and I want to retire it. I would like to boot to the Win 7 DVD, have my Vista install on the Seagate recognized, and then do a clean install of Windows 7 on the Western Digital drive, currently E.
I hope to buy another considerably larger backup drive shortly to replace the Western Digital as a backup drive.
Will the WD drive be available as a location for the installation in these circumstances?
Any previous time I have installed MS operating systems, I always chose to install to the same drive as the existing OS. This time things are different due to little space on the Seagate drive. Windows 7 would certainly fit on my current C, but I want to retire that drive.
Or will this remain a complete unknown until some time after October 22?
Or will I be forced to install to the Seagate and then somehow migrate the install to the WD?
I have not played with the RC, so I don't know what options are normally presented during the install.

I have two other hard drives in my computer. My operating system now is on "E" drive. I'm wanting to replace my "E" drive with a larger and faster drive.
I am currently backing up my entire "E" drive on my "C" drive.
Is it possible to simply pull out my current "E" drive and install a new "E" drive and then restore my backup to my new "E" drive? Or is it more complicated than that?

(Long story below, feel free to scroll to the bottom paragraph just to see what the problems are I am trying to fix).I've been trying to get help on this issue all day and I am at the point in being lost that I am close to just finding out how to wipe the drives clean entirely and not use my SSD for my boot drive. So heres my issue.Yesterday I built a new computer. It has a M4 Crucial 128GB SSD and accompanying it is a Seagate 1TB HDD. My plan was to make my SSD the boot drive (which was easy enough) and then use the HDD for mass amounts of storage and just put a few of my most used programs/applications on the SSD to improve the speed of them. Well turns out that it wasn't that easy because I didn't think before hand to make changes or anything and all of the things I have been downloading/putting on the new PC have been saving on the SSD, a few things that were selectable for installation I manually put into the HDD (another problem with that coming up.Essentially when trying to delete a few files from the HDD I didn't need, I was told I wasn't able to due to not being the owner of the file (the folder is owned by SYSTEM) and all of the google-able solutions I tried didn't work such as changing permissions and setting my user account as owner. So essentially I am REALLY hoping, for the sake of my sanity and frustration level with building a new pc () that you guys can help me figure out why it won't delete these folders (nothing in the folders themselves are being used) and help me setup my HDD to be my primary drive where files/programs/folders save and being able to transfer files from my SSD over to my HDD. I am new to the whole SSD thing and already am regretting it despite how amazing its performance is.Edit: Also just to give you a bit more information, I am using a Windows 7 Home Premium 64Bit disk (OEM) to install windows.

I am trying to upgrade my desktop from Windows XP to Windows 7 via disk. When it asks me where i want to install Windows, i click next and it tells me:"Windows cannot be installed to this disk. Windows needs the driver for device [Primary IDE Channel]. Click 'load driver' and select the required device driver."It doesn't find anything when I click 'load driver'. When I look in Device Manager it says the Primary IDE Channel driver is working properly. I am not sure what a Primary IDE Channel even is, so I am at a complete loss here.Computer is an Insignia d300a, a second internal hard drive is installed, and I have been unable to locate the startup disk that came with the computer. I am not sure what other information is relevant, but let me know if you need more information. All the data on the computer is saved, I just want to get Windows 7 on it...if there is no way to update that driver, is there a way I can format the hard drive and install Windows from the disk, or will it still give me problems because of the IDE Channel thing?

I just finished building my first gaming rig (WoooT!) and it works (DOUBLE WOOT!) and now I have to install Windows 7. The catch is my mom's company has free copies from her work that are stored online in an FTP site. Can I access those from the BIOS or is there any other way I can get to them and install without having a running operating system on my computer? I don't have a USB of Windows or any other software and I got sold a fake copy (at least I'm pretty damn sure it is) from Ebay and I really don't want to use that.
I go out and buy another DVD of Windows 7?

Finally got assembled, everything in BIOs looks detected to the best of my knowledge. But I'm trying to get Windows 7 installed, and the boot order will not change.
Using a Gigabyte P67A-D3-B3 and an older harddrive that has Windows XP on it. I was under the impression that I could boot from the CD and just overwrite the old Windows.
But everytime I turn it on it just goes to start XP then I get a blue screen. I've changed the boot order to properly boot from cdrom first. (There is another menu accessed by F12 on gigabyte bios called boot order which doesn't seem to work either)
I tried taking the battery out after changing settings and draining it, but this brought me to a Checksum Bios Error screen where it seemed to go back to the old settings?
