I am having a nightmare trying to get my pictures from my iPhone to my PC through copy and paste when I plug in my iPhone. I have been emailing them to my email address but that is just a pain in the back side.

View 3 Replies View RelatedI have been most the day trying to solve these issues and nothing has worked. Basically I moved house couple of weeks ago and just go round to plugging my computer in and these are the issues I am having, whether they are all related I wouldn't know...
1.I can't copy and paste files , whether it's by mouse or keyboard. It seems to work on text by not files.When I try to copy and paste files it makes the noise it doe's like if you were to press an incorrect key .
2.I can't move files from one fold to another or on to my desktop.
3.I can't seem to view any pictures in windows photo viewer it just says loading all the time.
4.I went on to account settings to see if it was to do with administrative properties but I am classed as the admin anyway and even when I click on create a new user or manage user settings (anything with the admin symbol near the option) it just doe's nothing.I Have rebooted,system restored and lots of other things that people have suggested by nothing works , even on safe mode it doe's the same and on hidden admin that i unlocked. I really am stuck. I have just done a sfc /scannow and it says it found corrupted files but couldn't fix them.

I have a different problem with COM Surrogate. I noticed something wasn't right when I got random freeze-ups playing audiosurf which is sensitive to CPU usage. I opened task manager and saw about every 15 seconds, there is a spike in the CPU usage. I checked the processes and saw dllhost.exe (COM Surrogate) is opening up and closing in just a few seconds, and repeats this about every 15 seconds which is eating my CPU. I do NOT get any error messages anywhere. I can view photos just fine. HOWEVER, I do see that any new photos' or videos' thumbnails are not updating. Any videos and photos I had before this problem have thumbnails, but not any new ones I create. I am running Windows 7 Professional 64-bit.

Last night my computer froze and gave me a BSOD, and when I tried to simply restart it, it would get to the windows splash screen and BSOD again. Then after trying a few things to fix it, its giving me the 'Reboot and select proper boot device etc'. Ive checked command prompt and it is showing my HDD as the 100 meg system partition that Windows 7 makes when installing, but I cannot access the rest of the drive.
Took the HDD out and to a mates place so I could get anything i needed off it before I just wiped the drive completely, and his computer did the same thing after a few minutes.
From that I assume it was a virus of some sort, and for me I can lose what I have on the HDD without caring too much, however he has things not backed up on his HDD that he really needs to recover.
Has anyone had this problem and been able to recover the data somehow?
I have a Inspiron One 2205 , since July 2011, as soon as my software warrant expired , I began having this error messages , Dell is asking for $234 to renew the software support contract , but I rarely used the one I had before ... so I'm looking for other Avenue. Even if I clicked F8 when the window logo appears , it's still goes to that error message. I can't even go to the safe mode. Only buttons that work is F2 and F12 , otherwise , it just give me the error message " Reboot and select proper boot device or insert Boot Media in selected boot deivce and press a key"

I do this and it goes over and over and over again. if I can restart it to normal I get to own the computer. It is an acer aspire 5750G, windows 7. I cannot get it in safe mode because the error pops up! The computer has been overheated alot, as it turns off pretty quickly!!

I threw in some more RAM after which this error message began appearing, though I doubt this is the source of the problem. For some reason, the computer just cannot see or boot from the drive anymore. The BIOS sees it perfectly fine. I've ran through all the settings like the boot priority such.
View 1 Replies View RelatedI built a server using FreeNAS 8.2 to store family pictures, videos, music, and Windows backups. In my home we have Windows 7 Home Premium 64bit and Windows 7 Professional 64bit. The server is setup with 3 Windows (CIFS) Shares. One share for each of the two computers and then a common share for multimedia. The user accounts on the NAS belong to the common group "family." The Multimedia share has ownership (user:group) of root:family. The permissions on the directories in the Multimedia share are read/write/execute for owner, read/write/execute for group, and read/execute for everyone else (or 0775 in the *nix world).
Anyway, on my computer (Professional) and my wife's computer (Home Premium), I see the shares in Windows Explorer | Network. I am able to access the shares, and the first time I accessed, I was prompted to enter user credentials, which I did along with checking the box to have the credentials remembered. So, now, when I access the shares in Windows Explorer, I have immediate access. I can read, write, delete, whatever through Windows Explorer. On my computer, I was able to easily transfer my iTunes library to the Multimedia share through the iTunes application, and iTunes now sees all of my iTunes media from the NAS, rather than local.
On my wife's computer, I am having a problem with pictures. I was able to easily move all of the 4.8 GB of pictures from my wife's My Pictures directory over to a Pictures directory on the Multimedia share. I then went into Windows Live Photo Gallery and added the Pictures directory on the Multimedia share as part of the library. The pictures on the NAS show up just fine in the application. I then went to set the Multimedia share Pictures directory as the Default Save Location, and I received an error that stated that the directory could not be set as the Default Save Location as it was Read Only.
However, I had just transferred files to that directory. So, I copied over some other files just to make sure, and I had no problems reading, writing, deleting from the directory via Windows Explorer. If I set the Pictures directory on the Multimedia share as the target for importing pictures from the camera, I get an Access Denied error when trying to import. However, I can import the pictures to the local My Pictures directory and right after the import, I can use Windows Explorer to move the pictures over to the NAS without so much as a hiccup.
I have done some searching on the Internet, but thus far, I have not found anything that resolves this issue. I have tried using the Windows 7 Library Tool application to add the Pictures directory on the Multimedia share to the Windows 7 Pictures Library and to set that as the Default Save Location. This does set those values, and I can see all of the pictures on the NAS in the Windows Explorer Pictures Library. Also, Windows Live Photo Gallery now has the NAS share as the Default Save Location. However, I still get the "Access Denied" Error when trying to import pictures to that location.
I have also tried setting the permissions on the NAS Pictures directory to 0777 or read/write/execute for everyone, but that didn't work. Does Windows 7 utilize some other account that may not have access to the stored NAS credentials for accomplishing some aspect of the picture import process? I have used Task Manager to view the running applications with Windows Live Photo Gallery and the Camera Import application running, and I see my wife's user account listed for those processes.

I had the Pictures library no longer working error happen yesterday, it's still the same today.
Is there an 'easy-to-follow' cure for this, as I'm puzzled as to where my imported pictures will go when I next transfer pics from my digital camera?
I imported my photos from my SDCard to my PC using Picasa 3, and everything was going smoothly... until I tried to take a look at the photos! all of the photos that I've imported using this method for some reason all became greyed out! Viewing them on Picasa3, all you can see is a grey rectangle, in place of the photos. However, when using the windows explorer folder, i can see that the photos were imported correctly (it's not just a grey box, but the actual photos), but when I try to open it (using any program: Paint, Picasa3, etc), it is still a grey rectangle instead of the photos. I tried to upload the image and send it via email, and I get the same result.In my mistake, I chose to "delete the uploaded photos after uploading" option..it's my vacation photos from Croatia I'm not sure if there were any errors when I imported it... i stepped out for a bit while I was waiting for it to import. I looked around my SD card, and looked at the "Lost.dir" folder, and copied all of what's in there.I did use Glarysoft to recover the images, and I'm using a Windows 7 laptop as my computer. Also, are there other alternatives? I did save the lost.dir with all of the photo files in it, both in my SD Card, and on my laptop.
View 4 Replies View RelatedWhile shooting a wedding, my 5Dmark II showed an error and locked up. I turned off the camera and turned it back on. I took one more picture and it locked up again. I turned it off and replaced the card, with no further issues. When I tried to download pictures in error card, nothing showed on the computer. The computer is asking me to formatt the card again. I have never had any problems with the Lexar Plat II 80x cards before. What can I do to recover my photo?

View 5 Replies View RelatedI'm having some trouble installing Windows 7 on my freshly constructed computer. I've got a SSD, a HDD and a Blu-Ray/DVD player connected- the Blu-Ray player with the Windows 7 boot disc in the tray ready to run- and every time I boot my computer I get the message, "Reboot and select proper boot device or insert boot media in selected drive...". The only way I can get to BIOS is by disconnecting all my storage drives and rebooting; none of my attempts to get my Windows 7 CD recognized have been effective. No matter what I do, I just get the, "Reboot and select proper boot device or insert boot media in selected drive..." error.
That being said, I have no experience as a builder and I suspect it's due to some nuance in cable choices that I haven't figured out. I've connected all my drives to the PSU with the peripheral cables provided, I have the SATA III cables connected to the motherboard, but I'm not sure if one cable has been designated the master and the others slaves by default.

View 6 Replies View RelatedI have a Windows 7 Home premium x64 OS and it has been giving me more and more problems. I've ran virus scan on AVG and Windows security and came up with nothing. I've tried msconfig and disabling all non-windows services from starting and still nothing has worked! Windows Live ID Sign in use to start after I had to manually start it (even though it was set for automatic), and now it won't even start at all, giving me the error it didn't respond in a timely fashion. My windows task manager doesn't respond, and my system restore gives me an error saying "A volume shadow copy service component encountered an unexpected error".
The problem seemed to start when my web browser would start to not load pages. Then my printer wouldn't work because the "printer spool" service wouldn't start, then of course the hardware and devices in the control panel wouldn't load. After resolving that by manually starting the bluetooth service, the Task Manager stopped working, and the "printer spool" service failed and would not stay started. My start up speed has seemed to have hit a brick wall as well, I've ran start-up repair to no avail. This is my build as copied from newegg.com:

This computer was quick as can be when I built it, and had had no problem with it whatsoever until now. I can't think of any program that may be messing with it, I've gone through my installed programs and startup programs and nothing to me is out of the ordinary.
I found out an issue on two DELL computers, I wanted to post it here if anybody else comes across the same isse. Hope this is ok with you guys.
iPhone is a Dominant Design though ;-) Started to test Windows 7 and discovered that the iPhone and iTunes got a problem with it. Windows 7 wants to install the iPhone as MTP USB Device, which fails. iTunes want's to access the iPhone (responds with Error 0xE8000065) and starts to freeze. Unfortunately the Windows Media Player 12.0.1700.0 freezes as well.
I guess Apples Service and the MTP Protocol from Windows are fighting against? The MTP USB Device is always being tried to be installed by Windows 7, with no luck. Somebody has a solution for this?
I recently used my new iphone USB got from Fry's (i used before without any problems) to my windows computer -- used itunes no problems -- any backups no problems. Suddenly it stopped working as it is not getting recognized by my computer. Now, getting error 43 on my device manager. I have windows 7 ultimate.I also used my usb with my ipod and iphone to my usb port in my car to use to play music and it cannot recognize it now. My radio turns off when I plug this in. My usb cable is new!! WTH! Then i used another usb in my computer and still won't budge! no recognition? Then used it in my car then to my work computer then to my laptopn and both usb's are not recognized. WTH?Note, all other usb devices work in my computer i.e.: External HDD and mouse/printer BUT my (2) usb cables don't work.
