BSOD While Computer Idling - System_Service_Exception (0X0000003B) - NToskrnl?
Oct 17, 2012
My PC has been stable since I built it 3 months ago. However recently I have been getting BSODs that only identify the kernel as the application that caused the issue. They state SYSTEM SERVICE EXCEPTION and 0X00000003B as further information. After some searching I realized these are too general to pin down the issue without some experts looking at the minidump files. The only thing I can think of that's different now than before is that before I didn't have Win 7 SP 1 (I had one of those borked installations, had to do the full repair install and now I have windows 7 sp1 installed)

I often get a BSOD of [system_service_exception] 0x0000003B .I use HD 6870 before have a same BSOD.I though it was video card hardware or ATI driver issue. ( I did use DriverSweeper to uninstall the driver and update a new ATI driver still no luck.) So I took the vidoe card out and replace a NVIDIA video card. A few days after, the same Blue screen appear...PS: I still have a ATI driver on my computer but not the new version, because my motherboard chipset need ATI diver to work.(such AMD USB ,RAIDXpert and Promise SATA RAID ) .The driver I installed is form Biostar webside. If I uninstall it, It would case unable to boot , lose all USB port or something.

I have been playing runescape for sometime now, and i bought a new computer recently which gives me a BSOD when im playing(of course i should note that it gives it after like a hour and a half of playing...)I should also note that this happens only when i play this specific game, due to the fact that im not turning the computer off when im going to sleep so i can say if it restarts the computer after a BSOD or not.My computer specs:
Pentium(R) Dual-Core CPU E5800 3.20GHZ
Kingston 2x2GB(4 total) 1300MHZ RAM
Windows 7 Ultimate x64
Asus P5G41T-M LX

i've just changed motherboard card, memory and cpu to the new one:gigabyte p67a-d3-b3, intel core i3 2120, patriot ddr3 2x4096mb 1600mhz cl8.0 viper xtreme divison 2 llk.i changed in bios memory to 1600mhz 8-9-8-24 1.5 v (instead of 1.65v (i couldnt find option to get it to 1.65v in bios, when i changed to 1.6v system didnt run). after 1 day i got bsod. but i changed back memory to the orginal state and after about 1 hour system just got shocked. bsod didn't show up, but computer was frozen and non stop i could hear beep sound.i didn't uninstall drivers from old motherboard (don't know how). i installed new drivers for new motherboard / cpu. i didn't install again graphic card drivers (i was told i don't need to). i didn't make format either (i'd like to avoid that as much as i can).in attachment everything you want: minidump / rammon / cpu-z / and seven forums tool logs.
edit:i'd like to add that each time computer got frozen was while i was watching something on Internet?

So after upgrading my PC (apart from the graphics card) all was well until today, a good 2 weeks after doing so, I suddenly get a BSOD after I thought everything was fixed. Codes and stuff attached, system spec in my profile. I made sure to update all my chipst/USB/etc drivers the second I put the PC together. [code] I did notice that somehow my Catalyst Control Center somehow updated itself to 12.4 from 12.3 ...don't know if that has anything to do with it. Also it's been unnaturally warm for England...GPU is cacking itself at around 53 degrees C, dunno if that's bad or normal?

I've been experiencing regular BSODs now for about 3 months and it is getting worse. Sequence is getting pretty routine. Upon 'cold' boot, system boots fine and I log into Windows and start working. Within about 5-10 minutes, screen freezes with blurred color bars. Upon power off/on, system emits 3 beeps and freezes with black screen. Upon next power off/on, I usually get the prompt to boot in safe mode/etc. Usually after anywhere from 5-8 reboots, the system remains stable unless I leave it in hiberation for extended period of time, in which case it can freeze again.Sometimes, like today, I get BSOD msgs, which I have attached. I've done all sorts of virus scans to no avail

I am getting the BSOD S_S_E and I'm not sure why. From what I've read it seems to usually be a memory issue or a VGA driver. I have ran the Mem Diag with zero results and ensured that my video crad driver was up to date. I could not get perfmon / report to run. "The parameter is incorrect." is the error I get.

Just upgraded an HP Laptop using HP Windows 7 kit. Everything went smoothly with no errors. However, as soon as logged in and got past the welcome screen, received the blue screen with System_Service_Exception.
Tried everything from Advanced Boot Options including various Safe Modes and Repair Your Computer but none has helped- getting the same blue screen with System_Service_Exception. The furtherst I got was to the desktop for 2 minutes before the same thing happened. I am attaching the latest dmp files for your consideration. I can't afford to do a clean install.

It started about a month ago with dxgkrnl.sys+5d000 causing a black BSOD, would just randomly reset my system (all fans 100% exhaust for a few seconds, then boot back up)
My specs:
Intel i5 3570k @ 4.2ghz using MSI OC Turbo Genie. (With corsair H80 cooler)
8GB of 2133mhz G.Skill ram
MSI Z77A-GD65 Motherboard
Gigabyte Windforce x3 GTX 670
850W OCZ ZX 80+ Gold PSU
Firstly when this was happening, it only happened inside games... at 99% GPU usage. So after testing the drivers, reinstalling the OS, running memtest, reseating ram, changing PCI-E slots, changing my power extender lead from a cheap 10bar to an expensive 4bar plug, making sure both CPU and GPU temps don't go above 60c... I was out of ideas and sent the GPU back for RMA. RMA was accepted as faulty, a new one was sent out 3 days later, put it in... had some issues with PEG in the BIOS, but got it sorted and a video link was picked up. Worked fine for the last week, now the same exact problem is back. However this time it just happens randomly, even when I'm idling. Done more stress testing on the GPU, did 10hours at 99% usage under furmark with no problems. I'm sceptical about it being another GPU issue due to the data I've gathered. However, the system works fine with onboard graphics... nothing crashes randomly. I've exhausted all tests to no avail, I'm thinking the motherboard is faulty?

I bought an ASUS G73JH gaming laptop 2 months ago and just started getting this random, inexplicable error. It's happened twice this last week and I have lost a considerable amount of unsaved work because of it. What happened the first time was I put my laptop to sleep in order to do something else and when I came back it had shut down by itself. After booting it back up the first thing that was displayed was the window in the images above. I don't know if my computer actually had a BSOD before it shut down because I was not there to see what happened. Second time this happened, I just left my computer at idle without putting it to sleep and left the room. My laptop is configured to go to screensaver after 10 minutes and sleep after 15. When I came back this time, my power button was not blinking, meaning the computer was not asleep, but the monitor had shut off and could not be turned back on with the monitor on/off toggle.
I had to manually restart the computer by holding the power button, and when it booted back up again the same window appeared. Yet again, I don't know if my computer actually had a BSOD because this time the monitor was turned off. P.S. My system specs are in the sig below and I've attached the requisite .zip file. No components are overclocked or otherwise modified at the hardware or software level.

I've encountered this crash around 6 times in the last few days, always when running games: Star Trek Online [throuh Steam], Neverwinter Nights 2 [through Steam] and Sid Meiers Pirates.I have filled in as many of the system details as I can to the profile - if more are needed, please tell me how to get the information.I also attach reports from CPU-Z, the Minidump and what I can from SF Diag Tool. The most recent changes I have made to my computer are: Defragmentation C drive. Windows 7 defrag. 10 passes. 22/04/12 approx 1400-1800GMT Uninstall multiple games 22/04/12Install driver for Logitech N305 Wireless NumberPad approx 5/04/12 [This component works correctly]It's been suggested that it may be a fault with the GPU - apparently, the driver from it was last updated 29/07/09. I'd prefer not to fiddle with it until we're sure that that caused the problem, which first arose around a month ago.

I seem to be getting somewhat random BSOD errors. As far as I have noticed they are all 0x0000003B.It generally happens after playing a game for a while but the game doesn't seem to make a difference and sometimes it doesn't happen for days.I have not installed any new hardware for over 6 months and also generally keep my drivers as up-to-date as I can.I have also noticed that for some reason after a computer restart (or crash), sometimes after the Windows 7 logo appears and before the login screen sometimes my monitors stop receiving signal and it can take sometimes up to 7 minutes before they regain it and I am presented with the login screen.

im tryingto fix my crashing error with the code 0x0000003b. I recently built a PC little by little using an older PC. I would swap out parts on the old one as I received them. Looking back on it now I regret not just performing a one time swap. Everything is new except for dvd drive and hard drive and the windows that was on the hard drive. (I used sysprep.exe to prepare the windows install for the out of box experience then reactivated windows. I did this about 3 weeks ago. Every since I fired up I have been having regular crashes every 40-50 minutes after using the keyboard. I thought it was a driver so I went to the sites of every new product i bought and got new drivers and even went through the device manger and updated drivers for everything in their but still no luck. I also checked that everything hardware wise was connected and re-seated. I ran memtest with no errors for more than 7 passes. I got rid of Norton and replaced with Microsoft essentials. It was weird because I only got the actual blue screen twice and it was during gta IV, but spat out the same error code. normally the screen goes into lines and the audio skips then it restarts. It doesn't appear to happen in safe mode or when I use my xbox controller. I then thought it was something wrong with my mouse, keyboard which is a logitech mx3200 keyboard and a logitech mx600 mouse both wireless. I tried using a different keyboard and mouse but still same problems. I attached dump files and system health below. I hope one of you smarter-than-me gentlemen can see something I don't. The blue screen view program spits out the same error code: 0x0000003b and always highlights ntoskrnl.exe and another driver/program like: usbohci.exe, VirtDiskBus64.exe, blbdrvie.exe, and RTKVHD.exe and etc.

Whenever I play online games, like s4 league or some Mmmorpg, I eventually get a blue screen after hour(s) of playing. To narrow down the problem, I would say that I have been getting these blue screens pretty much a couple weeks after getting this computer. Meaning it's likely not because I downloaded something.

i recently upgraded my system with a new graphics card and ssds, and a new psu. i installed windows 7 x64, and now i've had 2 bsods within 24 hours. the first one occured while i was playing deus ex: human revolution. the error was 0x0000003b and the faulty file was dxgmms1.sys. i reinstalled the graphics drivers and it hasn't shown up anymore. now, i was installing gta iv and watching a video on Internet, and got another bsod, this time with error 0x000000be. i can't seem to isolate this problem. i've attached the files in the zip archive. also, i think its worth mentioning that the when i installed windows, i used a 32bit driver for the ssd raid 0 array since windows wouldn't take the 64 bit driver because it wasnt signed(although the driver did have the signature file on the disk). after the installation finished, windows automatically updated the raid driver.
