BSOD When Trying To Update Nvidia Ethernet Drivers
Aug 28, 2012
I was having a BSOD problem that ANTHONY pretty much told me how to sort out, I downloaded the driver for it and then I got a message saying "The contents of this file cannot be unpacked. The executable you are trying to run has been corrupted. Please obtain another copy of the file, and its integrity, and try again."

With the latest Nvidia drivers on windows update there are some problems
1) Change Flat Panel Scaling does not work correctly in display , if i click anything other than ( use my displays built in panel scaling ) it defaults back to it. Select Nvidia scaling and it goes back to default ^. This works fine with 185.20 -> 181.20 -> ****
2) Adjust Video Colour settings does nothing with media player classic even when selected to ( with the nvidia settings ). This works fine with all other latest beta nvidia drivers -
3) Doom 3 Flickers BADLY with any official/beta nvidia driver in use ( 185.20 e.t.c ) , this is not fixed by any form of Config editing or control panel changing. Thus far only the windows 7 update driver works with doom 3 , however its an old driver and as above scaling isn't working. SyncMaster T240 HDMI/VGA/DVI/USB 24

Trying to do a clean install of Windows 7 Ultimate on brand new pc .
Initially I got quite a way through the installation then it came up with an error saying the computer closed unexpectedly and had to restart to continue installation. I had got my monitor connected to the nvidia gt 9500 via divX.
Said Ok, pc shut down, then restarted with exactly the same message. Read up on the Net and said that it could be the nvidia card, so got to device manager and removed drivers so it had to use standard vga drivers and switched to the vga connection on the graphics card (I dont' have onboard graphics on my motherboard).
Well, now it doesn't have the old problem it has a new one. I am booting straight from the dvd drive and it lets me get to the Windows install page, I select custom install and it gets to anything between 2 and 72% of expanding the files (second stage on list) and then it blue screens with various errors. the last one being this:
STOP: 0x0000008E (0xc0000005, 0x81851844, 0x86914B04, 0x00000000)
fltmgr.sys address 81851844 base at 81848000. Datestamp: 4a5bbf11
Have tried ringing the tech support from where I got the pc but they say they don't support windows 7 yet. CD that has come with the pc for the motherboard says that it is windows 7 ready (but that probably doesn't mean anything).

I installed 285.62 P08 Nvidia Driver from the Dell webpage two days ago and it was fine and everything was good after the restart from the installation. After finishing up my session, I noticed that there is a window update so I shut down and left the computer to do the updating on it's own. Today, I switched on my computer to look at my timetable for today and after that put it to sleep mode.
After "waking" it up, I was met with a BSOD after like 5 minutes of use. I then decided to system restore to before i did the updates. It still BSOD albeit it took a longer time before that happened. Right now im using Safe mode + Networking to type this message out. (The computer does not seem to BSOD in safe mode so far). I did the steps listed but I could not get the perfmon step working. "An error occurred while attempting to generate the report".
Specs:
Windows 7 64bit
OEM
About 7 months old both hardware and the OS
I triggered a BSOD in normal mode:
KERNEL_DATA_INPAGE_ERROR
STOP: 0x0000007A (0x0000000000000020, 0xFFFFFFFFC000009D, 0xFFFFFA800798E078, 0x0000000000000000)

ok over the past month or so I have been trying to solve a problem with my Windows 7 installation (build 7232.0.1md64fre.winmain.0980610-1900)
after a fresh install I had to find the smu drivers for my biostar MB and windows installed it's own video driver 8.15.11.8585 dated april 09. the gfx card is a 9800GTX+ has the bios 62.92.56.0.6.
now since then I haven't been able to install any of nvidias driver updates and windows own driver update for my my gfx card, what happens is I install the driver then my system reeboots and as the driver loads after reeboot I simply get a blue screen error
I have tried various methods of unninstalling the drivers first and also using "drivercleaner.net" and also unninstalling my antivirus but none of these make any difference I still get the blue screen error "System_Service_Exception" stop 0x0000003B etc etc file mentioned is "nvlddmkm.sys"
now I can continue to use the OS by going into safe mode and removing the driver and letting windows install the default driver, but the tweaker in me is determined to get to the route cause of this problem
Is this something specific to this build or do I have a corrupted driver file somewhere or is there something simple I need to do with possibly the registry.

I had this same issue on the RC but am now getting it on the retail.
Windows 7 Pro x64
Asus P5N32-E SLI with nFocrce 680i chipset
On RC, if i installed the nForce driver package then my ethernet would randomly fallover under high network activity (only internet would fall, LAN would remain) To fix i would right click network icon in system tray and select troubleshoot problems, this would then fix it.
But it did it so often that i ended up removing the nforce drivers and letting windows 7 use its own driver, after which i never had a problem again.
Now i'm on retail im getting similar things although now its not happening with high network activity, it just happening randomly.
For retail i'm using the brand new nForce v15.51 drivers and its still randomly killing my network connection, but this time everything is falling over, LAN and net.
Is anyone else seeing this sort of behaviour when using the nvidia nForce driver package?
Its really irritating and i'm very suprised nVidia have still not fixed such a glaring bug.

I just formatted/installed Windows 7 Home Premium 64. I have, as the topicsuggests:Nvidia nForce 680i SLI motherboardI downloaded the drivers from Nvidia's web site for the Win_7_64 drivers for this motherboard, but it will not allow me to install the Ethernet drivers when installing the WHQL download.Has anyone else had this problem? Any idea of how to get my PC back on the intarwebz?t: After looking through the .exe with all of the motherboard drivers, I've found that they do include an Ethernet driver, but during the installation, I only have the option of installing the 'Nvidia Storage Driver', none of the other components are even available to be installed.

I have a Dell Studio XPS M1330 Laptop, has NVIDIA motherboard. I think ever since I purchased the PC this problem has occurred.Problem: NVIDIA nForce 10/100/1000 Mbps Ethernet card will only detect an ethernet cable when I restart. The minute I unplug it, it will not detect it if I plug it back in. I have searched high and low for a solution but have not been able to find one that works. I have disabled the sleep setting on the device and made sure the computer is not allowed to turn off device to save power.Drivers are updated.

i keep getting this error every time i try to update my graphics card driver.
Here is a screen shot of the problem - Most/all information is in the SS , I have a HP laptop windows 7 32 bit and i do windows updates when there available. And i got bitdefender total security 2010 as a security software.
EDIT: hehe fixed , i did windows update and restored the hidden update and installed it from there (it didn't work before with this method , but magically worked now).

This occured just hours after I first registered for this website.I have had some problems with updating the drivers for my EVGA GTX 460 SE 1GB and it has been giving me h3ll about it.Innocently, just hours after I registered for this site, I was going to do a Windows update as I hadn't yet done one in weeks and decided to do the optional update on Windows 7 Pro for a new nVidia driver as I do with everything. When I downloaded it, installed, then restarted, my computer started to act kind of funny. For the most part it was pristine, but it started and continues to operate funny with the visual display.1) During the second Windows loading screen, the one after the glowing Windows logo, the screen quickly flickers to black and back to the screen during the process. It does this sometimes while I'm navigating in Windows as well using some programs albeit somewhat infrequently.2) The driver update screwed up my desktop display immensely as it is now. When I originally installed the nVidia driver from the EVGA cards software CD, I noticed the picture quality and resolution jumped up immensely and added higher resolutions to my desktop settings. Icons got immensely smaller, more windows with smaller text could fit on the screen, the cursor was half the size about, and my start menu and bar with it's icons, shrunk down a bit smaller too. That was the healthy behavior. Now when I did this Windows Update for the nVidia display driver it messed everything up to what it is now. Everything is blown up in size. And when I tried to uninstall all the nVidia software, restarting, and then installing it again using the latest driver download off of nVidia's website, the same stuff. I can see the uninstallation of the driver causes it to revert to I take it some default Windows visual driver lowering the max desktop resolutions and that reinstalling the driver off of the website does indeed add the higher resolutions and the visual appearance does change where the cursor, icons, etc. aren't as pixelated, but everything is still oversized instead of shrunken down like as is normal. It says my desktop is at 1680x1050 as the monitor is and what stuff on my desktop has on it looks more high-definition, but the actual size of icons, cursor, etc. almost suggest like it's running on a lower resolution.3) As I tried to reinstall the driver from the website and it didn't do much to change the problem, I tried instead to use the CD again and it's giving me h3ll about it. I even went so far as to uninstall it through both normal and safe mode boots and do a Norton Utilities scan to scan for junk files and registry entries as well as try some driver cleaner software to get rid of excess stuff that may not have been gotten rid of, and then use the EVGA driver CD. But the driver CD will show up the autorun window, but then when I try to install the drivers it gives me an error message saying "Access denied". Why is it doing that? And I know fully well it's the Windows Update of the nVidia driver that is doing this because it did it just after I installed it. It screwed things up BAD and will not do something so stupid as taking their nVidia updates from this point on, but the question still remains... How do I get the d@mn drivers to work PROPERLY? How do I get the visual display to be 100% FULLY WORKING?

I have an HP DV8T entertainment laptop with an Nvidia GeForce GT 230M. The current driver is version 267.67. The latest from Nvidia is 280.26.
When I install 280.26, everything appears to go great...until I re-boot. I get the boot screen with the windows logo and the swirly dots. After that, nothing. Just a black screen with the cooling fans screaming.
I tried to uninstall the current 267.67 driver and then install the 280.26 version but I get a pop-up that says "No compatible device found." I also tried to "Uninstall current driver" from the custom install menu on the Nvidia installer. Again, everything appeared to go well until re-boot. Logo, swirly dots...black screen.
Thank goodness for the ability to create system restore points or I could possibly be re-installing Windows. why I am unable to successfully update this driver?

We are having this issue on Windows 7 x86 Ultimate with an Asus M2N-VM DH mobo, which has an NVIDIA GeForce 6150 SE / nForce 430 GPU. If we leave the default driver that Windows installs, we can use Media Center full screen, BUT we can't run the native resolution of the monitor, which is an LG L245WP-BN. When we try to run the install disk supplied with the mobo, which supposedly contains Vista drivers, we get an error saying they "can't be installed on this operating system."

Well this time it isn't a hardware problem. Like I said, I've been starting to get random, yes completely random, nvidia driver crashes. My screen will flash a few times and eventually just BSOD. Basically I've tried reinstalling drivers and rolling back drivers but the problem persists. I installed vista on a separate partition thinking there was some kind of weird conflict and whadya know, Vista, of all things!!, works perfectly.
That's how I know it's software. So my question to you guys is, is there anyway for me to fix this without reinstalling 7? I have a lot of data on there and it would be a major hassle for me.
Secondly, is there any way to reinstall 7 but to keep all of my settings and files? Like literally just replacing the OS files.
If there isn't I guess I just have to face the music and copy everything to the other partition and then copy it back ..

I am consistently getting a BSOD on my new system build (Win7x64SP1.) It happens only when I browse my network folders while connected to my other desktop (Win7x86SP1) though ethernet (no router.) In this configuration both computers have their own wifi adapters for Internet connectivity to the apartment building's router. I have also tried sharing the Internet connection with one and the same thing happens. Browsing either mapped drives or network shares produces the same result. I detached all other external hardware to test as well. The minidump refers to ntoskrnl.exe It doesn't happen right away. Sometimes it's within 5 minutes, sometimes after an hour or two. I get no other BSODs at all.If I network the two computers over a wifi adhoc, or through the landlord's router no BSOD happens. I can browse my home netowork, public network, mapped drives, whatever. It also does not happen when the ethernet NIC is connected to the router. I don't want to network through the loandlord's router for obvious reasons. Adhoc networking is a PITA and never retains the settings.I built this system on 3/24/12 so all drivers are the newest. My memtests come out fine. (BTW my ram modules in the attached screenshots are 4 identical modules, so the specs are the same for all.) See my profile for system details. The Bios settings are not OC'd, and are default as much as possible. The one thing I haven't tested yet is disabling both antivirus programs on the computers. The BSOD computer (the new one) has AVG 2012, and the other has Avast.I am using a different ethernet cable for the connection to the router than with the connection between the 2 computers (the one where no BSOD's happen is running outside so I really don't want to undo all the work.)

Since the past 6 months i have been using my PC using my onboard graphics which is HD4200 (must be ATI), but prior to that i used to have my GTX 460 installed in this PC but it was on a 32 bit windows 7. On 6th Sept 2012 i re fitted my GTX 460 with the latest drivers of that day ( first i uninstalled the ATI drivers from device manager and then used driver sweeper in safe mode) but soon after installing the GTX in 5 minutes got a BSOD but all i could see was a percentage counter like 0-5-10-15... 100 and a reboot. All this happened in 5 seconds max i guess. I reformatted the PC and this time installed the previous WHQL drivers from nvidia namely 295.xx something but they didnt work either. All i had left to do was to remove the GPU and reinstall the onboard drivers and without my gpu pc worked great.
