View 0 RepliesI would like to know if there is a way, when you start up your PC, so that windows would log you in automatically without you having to click on your user account everytime. There surely must be some registry fix/tweak for that? Security is not an issue for me, don't use a password anyways.

View 1 Replies View RelatedI am having trouble with my notebook. I recently decided to turn on the screensaver to "blank" after 10 minutes and set the power managemet to never turn off the display under either power condition. I would leave my computer for 10 minutes or so and then when I would come back, I was logged out. Yes, I mean logged out as in all open, running applications were closed, not just at the login screen. I searched the web and found many others with a similar problem. Most replies refer to the check box on the screensaver setup page that says "on resume, display logon screen." This is quite different though as even with that checked, the current user is not actually logged off and the running applications are not shutdown. I (and others with this problem) are actually being logged off. Incidentally, the box is not checked, and now the screensaver is diabled. Power management is set to never turn anything off, ever. I still have the problem. I then saw a post that said I needed to uncheck the "require password to logon" option in the user settings. Seemed odd since my computer worked as it should for the last 9 months with that option checked (by default), but I gave it a try. The system still logs me out. I then went back to the screensaver and re-enabled it with the "bubbles" but this time, I set the timeout to 9999 minutes, figuring that it would then take a week of idle time before it logged me out, if in fact that was the problem. Didn't work, still being logged out with applications running. I have searched all over the web, but can't find a solution.

There is no error log created inside windows folder. I turned off the 'Automatic restart on system failure' but, it doesn't work. After that my friend did a fresh install of windows 7 ultimate x86, on the system, but the problem persists. Is it a hardware problem?

View 5 Replies View RelatedI just got an SSD, and immediately installed W7 on it. Got it all updated, backed up my other drive, and formatted the old one so it wouldn't be a boot disk. However, now Windows won't automatically boot from the SSD. I can hit the boot menu at startup and select the drive manually, but it does not show up in the arrangeable list of drives to automatically boot from. How do I make Windows automatically boot from the SSD? Windows 7 is fully installed and updated on it; it works fine when I automatically select it, but Windows refuses to notice it unless I tell it that it is there.

View 3 Replies View RelatedLate friday I attached a new NANO Ipod to my laptop to charge and load music. I left it for the day and when I returned later my computer had frozen, completely. I had to turn it off to restart. When it came back, I attempted to eject the Ipod, but got a message that siad it was still in use - I couldnt figure out what was using it and simply disconnected it, unplugging the USB. It subsequently froze again, and I re-powered it again, this time I got the mesasge that windows shut down incorrectly and needed to do a scan disc. And so it began.
It continued to cycle through the scan check, then go to my log in window, but nothing worked. No pointer, I couldnt put in my password, nothing. So I turned it off again, and again it went through the drill. eventually it was just cycling through the shots I've uploaded, restarting and going through again and again. I allowed it to run its scan(s) for more than 40 hours. When I returned last night my log in window was on, so i logged in. The welcome sign appeared and with it the spinning (I'm thinking) signal but nothing prevailed. It did this for 30 + minutes and I could do nothing else. No other buttons or commands have worked at all.
When I log off of my profile, but leave the computer on, after a certain amount of time, it always logs in to the first user profile in the list, which starts with an A. I have looked on how to stop this from happening but can't find how. It doesn't effect the performance at all,m but is kind of annoying to have to log off of that profile and log in to another.

View 3 Replies View RelatedUpon every boot up Windows Explorer ( not Internet Explorer) automatically loads and displays. This has been going on for some time. I thought this would be solved once I did a "Install Repair" , yet this is not the case.I have looked in the startup folder to see if it is being requested on startup and it is not. I have not been able to see where this request resides to turn it off.
View 5 Replies View RelatedI was just looking for some info on connection teaming in Windows 7. Basically I have one landline connection running at 2megabit/sec, and one unlimited data plan on my mobile phone running at about 12-14megabit/sec. I figured if I could find some way to team these 2 together, I'd have a half decent download speed so I set about looking for some way to do this in Windows 7 but it appears Windows 7 does this all by its self!

View 8 Replies View RelatedI've got 2 separate hard drives, both with Windows 7 (let's call them "Drive A" and "Drive B" ). Drive A is my primary drive that I always want to boot up automatically upon restart, cold boot, etc. Now, if I want to use Drive B, I know how to go into the BIOS and re-assign the Boot Priority so that Drive B will start up. However, if I restart the computer (while working in Drive B), I want the computer to go back to booting up Drive A. In other words, I want the system to only boot up Drive B for only those times I manually specify it. I always want Drive A to remain as my primary boot up drive. Is there any way to set this in the BIOS? (The BIOS always seems to go by the last setting.)
