View 1 Replies View RelatedI wanted to reformat my laptop using a 64-bit windows 7 professional DVD, but everytime I boot it up after the installer loads and before it reaches the Installation GUI it automatically shuts down. I tried booting up my Kaspersky original CD since it has this Rescue Tools but as soon as it reaches the GUI of my laptop shuts down. The reason I wanted to reformat my laptop was because a Trojan named " JS:ScriptIP-inf" infiltrated my laptop and after changing my antivirus to kaspersky internet security 2013 my laptop just became too slow that my commonly used programs and games now takes so much time before it could open.My laptop is an MSI CX420, Core i5, 4GB RAM, 320GB HDD, ATI Mobility Radeon 5470 with 1GB dedicated memory.
View 1 Replies View Relatedver the past year I could say I have been been getting a lot of random shutdowns with my Dell Studio 15. This can happen when I'm browsing the web, trying to play a game, or I leave my laptop on for a extended period of time (a day or more). I realize a year is along time to wait to solve a problem, but better now than never. My laptop is a Dell Studio 1555 running Windows 7 x64. Sometimes when I turn my laptop back on I can hear the fan running rapidly, yet when it shuts off I do not hear it. I believe these are due to heat and I just need to clean out my laptop. If and when I leave it on I come back to find it has restarted and most of the time there is a not a Blue Screen notice. Usually in this situation I just left my laptop on or I am streaming media. Sometimes it will Blue Screen but most recently, within the past few months it has not. Today it actually has produced one. Unfortunately I believe most logs are deleted due to my use of CCleaner and TuneUp Utilities, but I do have Critical events in my Error Logs which date back to 2 months ago.

I have been searching the Internet a bit to find a solution to this issue. Mostly this has been linked to specific programs (like iTunes), which I don't have. Someone said it might be BSOD so I did the procedure.
Basically, my laptop doesn't go to Sleep, but instead freezes. This happens when closing the lid, pressing the "power" button or doing manual Sleep from Start menu. The screen goes black, but won't "wake up" anymore - the only way out is a forced shutdown and restart. If the laptop is in this freezed state long enough it will shut itself down automatically. The machine is 2 months old with pre-installed Windows.
Sadly my Advent 9215 has a habit of shutting off sometimes and it is annoying.I am aware of my laptop being fairly warm but no where near too hot!Weirdly it refuses to turn on afterwards sometimes without the power lead plugged in. Weird or what... and it wasn't low on battery

View 7 Replies View RelatedJust having a weird problem with Windows 7. When I am using earphones or my laptop speakers and then I close the lid on my laptop, it causes a great reduction in the volume of the sound output automatically. While the laptop lid is still open, the volume on all programs remains normal. However, when I close my laptop lid, it seems Windows automatically reduces the volume.Let's say I put the volume on my laptop to 40/100 units in the sound mixer. All programs I am using are set to use the volume the sound output device is using, so everything else is also at 40/100 units, including Media Player Classic.I am usually using Media Player Classic to play some FLAC music. I usually have earphones connected, but this issue recurs without them as well.
When I close my laptop, in about 2 seconds the sound volume will automatically reduce to 5/100 units in the Volume Mixer in the taskbar. This sound reduction also only applies to the program I am currently using to play music (e.g. MPC or iTunes, the two which I've tried so far). After re-opening my laptop, I check the Volume Mixer and it shows only MPC or iTunes sound output is reduced. The system device speakers will still be at 40/100 units volume.his is really frustrating, because I like to turn on some music,
I have a Toshiba L305D S5895 laptop. Hdd=250, Mem=2GB, Windows Vista upgrd to Windows 7 Hm prem 64bit. System power indicators does not light up except when both battery and AC are connected. When one of them (the Battery or the AC adapter) alone is plugged in, it does not light up. When both is plugged and I hit the switch, it starts briefly showing the Toshiba logo and then shuts down and the light goes off. I have to unplug both batt and AC and reconnect them again to get the power lights up. Battery is abt 11% charge and the AC adapter is ok when I tested it on a multimeter. I did a reset of BIOS by by pressing Switch for 30 secs before reconnecting power, but it did not help.

View 5 Replies View RelatedI am trying to restore my dads Toshiba Satellite laptop to a good state as it has been running for years without any regular service and was running extremely slow.So far I have - - Restored laptop to factory settings - Installed Avast Antivirus Free - Installed over 100 'important updates' from Windows Updates - Defragmented hard drive - Run Avast thought a Boot-time Scan - Run TDSSKiller...and unwisely run ComboFix witThe computer now seems to run faster than it was (although this seems to fluctuate), and all the tests I've ran have come up with no signs of spyware/malware, but the laptop still seems to shut down unexpectedly whenever I try to run an anti spyware/malware program when the laptop is already running in a normal windows start-up.I also have Malwarebytes installed which I'm sure I've tried to run already unsuccessfully ('i've been trying to sort this laptop out since lastnight), but most recently, I installed/run Glary Utilities 'one-click' solution and all seemed to be going well until the 'spyware checker' started to run, after which the laptop shut down again.

I have a Sony viao laptop vpc-f1290x. I probably will be unable to give any specs besides windows 7 and i7. Earlier I was playing stacraft 2 after waking it from hibernation and was listening to music with headphones on. I heard a horrific cranking noise and couldn't tell where it came from. A few minutes later I heard it again and realized it came from the fan area or so from the laptop. It turned off and I waited a minute and turned it back on. It started for a few seconds and turned back off. I left it for a few hours then turned it on again and it lasted to the desktop then turned off. I tried a different power source but that hasn't done anything.

View 2 Replies View Relatedhope somebody might recognize the symptoms. last 12 months Been running windows 7 on a top range PC computer, 2 TB HD 16G ram ,2G Graphics card so the hardware is excellent, just recently when we get it to boot up sometimes its normal and boots up in a couple of minutes but others it can take an hour, when we open |word or other programmes like Serif Page Plus, etc it just to open it shuts the programme down, there's is way we can save anything as "Save As" seems to be a major problem. When we are about to shut down it come up with various programmes saying such and so programme has experienced a problem and had to close, even as far as saying that windows explorer had experienced a problem and had to close. Our gut instinct is its windows 7 , we have no idea what happened, we have two computers linked one is used solely for internet use the big one for data and Desktop publishing. We have manged to save all our data by going into windows explorer and sliding the data on to an external Hard drive..
