i'm having a problem with Win 7 (x64), i can't install the driver utility for my remote controller. Win 7 does recognize the usb receiver as ASUS DH REMOTE, but when i install driver from Vista x64 the setup fails to install acpi driver (i need the program to configure the device ). i've tried run as administrator and same happens. so if anyone has some exp. about it.

For some reason my LifeFrame program is no longer available. Any reliable website to download the program from? I tried looking on the ASUS website but.. no luck. And there is another website that comes up when I search in Google, but it looks suspicious.
View 1 Replies View RelatedI just replaced the motherboard on my desktop PC from a five-year old Asus P5N32E-SLI to a new Asus P8Z77-VLE Core 5 Intel with 16 gigs of RAM. I reloaded Windows 7, which I had been using before, and installed all updates and patches. Before I made the switch I was able to use Remote Desktop to connect to my desktop PC from the two laptops elsewhere in my house, over my home's LAN, and the Remote experience was virtually as fast as if I was logged in on my desktop PC locally. But with the new motherboard, RD virtually comes to a halt after a few seconds of connect time. For example, the screen takes many minutes to redraw after even the slightest change; it is totally unusable, and I used to use it every day. The new motherboard is the only thing I have changed; all my other computers and networking gear didn't change. (Though I upgraded the BIOS in my Linksys router after the problem started, to no avail.) I have followed all the suggestions I found online: Disabling auto-tuning, changing the mouse pointer to a basic one, scaling back the Remote Desktop "experience," etc. Nothing has worked. As far as I can tell, all my drivers are up to date. Without a Remote Connection session, my laptops "see" the drives on my desktop fine, and LAN drive-to-drive transfer speeds are normal. But they, too, start to bog down once I get a minute or two into an RD session.
View 2 Replies View RelatedI know there have been a number of posts on this subject but I have been unable to find a solution. I have 2 Windows 7 machines, both running SP1.
My HP Pavilion is running 64-bit and my Dell Latiude E6400 is running 32-bit. I can successfully RDP from my Dell and even my Apple iPad (via an RDP client) into my HP Pavilion. However, the problem is that when I try to RDP from my Pavilion into my Dell I get connected but all I see is a BLACK from the Dell machine. The only thing i can see is the Status bar at teh top telling me that i am connected. A few moments later I get a popup message telling me that the machines have failed to communicate.
I have confirmed that RDP settings are identical on the Pavilion and Dell. I have even downgraded the Dell NVIDIA graphics driver to an older version based on the recommended version on the Dell support web site.
I am using Windows 7 Pro 64bit, trying to use Windows remote desktop to connect to another PC in the LAN and install software. Right click on the .exe and choose run as admin. As soon as I do that I get a black screen with 2 white bars in the upper left hand corner(looks like a pause button). The user who's pc I am connected to sees the log inbox for the admin creds, how ever I can not get to it. How can I make that screen stop popping up?
View 1 Replies View RelatedWe have several remote systems that can all connect fine. I am having an issue with one box. It is a windows 7 home premium machine with netgear wireless nic. When I open mstsc to connect to a remote machine I put in the ip address and click on connect.I receive an immediate failure with the text "This computer can't connect to the remote computer. Try connecting again...blah blah"I have a server 2008 r2 with Network level authentication enabled. I have 8 other systems that are hardwired, at different geographic locations and all connect fine. I have not made any changes on the server side since this problem seems to be local to this client only. On the client I have made the following changes/observations. I have disabled the firewall, cleared the remote desktop cache, remove the MRU entries from the registry, verified that port 3389 is open via telnet. I have been bashing my head for days trying to figure out why this one box is not working. The problem occurs for every user on the box including the admin.I don't receive the box that prompts for warning if there is a server authentication issue but I think that is because I selected ignore at some point and said yes to continue. I'm not sure where that cache resides to delete that selection.

I'm running this on my Dell D830 laptop with a 500gb internal drive in it which only has about 130gb used. I'm trying to run the back to a 250gb internal drive in the drive bay.
It fails every time with the error that there is not enough disk space to back up.
I also tried backing this up to an external 750GB drive but I received the same error.
Any ideas?
I was trying to partition my 500gb hdd in my laptop. So i could run windows xp and 7 on the machine. But before partitioning it it said i needed to run the Chkdsk utility. so i had it run on startup. Now for about the past 6-10 hours it has bean on stage 4 of 5 going from 32% to 34%. How do i stop it? I dont wont to hurt my computer. i have windows 7 home premium installed on the machine that has the problem.

View 6 Replies View RelatedI have Win 7 Ultimate. I recently bought a usb turbotenna to catch wifi. It worked fine with the Ralink software. Ralink worked in conjunction with wzc as I set it up that way while installing the software. After a few days, I had what I thought was trouble so I uninstalled the Ralink software. I then plugged in the usb adapter and let windows load it's own drivers. Few days after that, I reinstalled the Ralink software and opted to "Use wzc as configuration utility" instead of using Ralink's. Ever since then, while I can still see and log on to networks using windows, the Ralink utility now shows NO networks. It now shows, "NIC or driver not ready". After several uninstall/reinstall, Windows will not relinquish it's primary control. I want to go back to Ralink showing networks and letting me connect through it's site survey.
Would uninstalling the Broadcom wireless connection be the solution? How do I get it to once again be secondary?

It marks all the new destination folders with the timestamp of the date the copy was done, so I lose the original timestamp. I use it in a batch so that I can create logs. I'm familiar with XCOPY but it doesn't suffice for what I need. Is there a good utility that can copy sets of files & or folders as in a batch file for frequent copy, or even a windows app?

What I am finding is I am spending many hours locating the correct set of sequences to do something which is very straightforward in XP and do the same thing in Windows 7. I end up going onto the web and have to search for the command and the information necessary to accomplish a task. An example of this is creating an ODBC connection. In XP it exists as an option in the Control Panel/Administrative Tools/Data SOurces ODBC. In Windows 7 now its buried in Windows System32/odbcad32. I am not seeing any real advantage of using Windows 7 other than running in 64bit mode. It seems that the order of where things/commands are located and what commands are called is many times changed as well.

I am using The Easy Transfer utility to make copies of the files I want to keep once I have installed Windows 7 on my WinXP PC and I will be making the file on an internal hard disk drive, which is E: As the My Documents folder has been directed to my D: drive and WinXP is installed on my C: drive, do I have to include My Documents in Easy Transfer or will the clean install onto C: leave my D: and E: drives intact?

When I attempted to start the installation again, I now receive this error:"The supplement disk utility has stopped and cannot continue because the main C: drive partition information is not avaliable. Restore your computer to the original factory settings and try using the supplement disk utility again."
