View 5 RepliesI upgraded from windows xp to windows 7 ultimate 32bit the other day, and every time I start up the computer, it works fine for 15 minutes and then just crashes. It's not a BSOD, it's just a screen with lines all in it. The screens are different usually every time it crashes. Also, after it crashes I have to manually turn it off then back on.I didn't think this could be a virus.. it's a clean install of windows.I've added a picture of what it looks like in the attachments.

View 2 Replies View RelatedMy computer keeps crashing about 10 minutes in game with windows 7 64bit but when i reinstalled with 32bit it works. I am playing fairly new games like bf3 and cod4. is there some form of driver error that has been going on lately?
View 4 Replies View RelatedJust used the restore disks to install Windows XP. When it was done installing all the drivers it never installed the Video driver. GPU didnt show up in the BIOS either. I updated the BIOS. It now shows in the BIOS. Shows VGA Card: Quadro FX 2500M (512MB). So I figured I would be able to install the Driver now that is recognizes it. Nope didnt work. Not sure what the deal is. What could be the problem?
View 1 Replies View Relatedafter months of trying to get my video card drivers to work with windows 7, i finally made it happen. after that happened the laptop started to be slow and laggy. there was no lag problems while the video cards weren't installed. i'm saying like Internet loads slow, so the audio plays fine and video skips constantly or freezes. scrolling and load times for the browser are skippy and very slow, respectively. i don't know what i should do about this. i have 2 nvidia 7900gs currently going with the temp. at 74c.
edit: i forgot to add, when starting up sometimes windows will freeze and i have to hold the power button to shut it off. and other times, when it's loading up the monitor shuts off and about 2 minutes later it will turn on and then windows will show up and finally load.
I'm not exactly the most tech-savvy individual, so I will try to convey the problem I'm having here. I'm at my girlfriend's house, and have two laptops with me. One is a Sony VAIO (which I am currently using), the other is an Alienware m14x (sitting right next to me). I use the Alienware to play Diablo 3, and have had no issues connecting to any wireless access points prior to this.My sony connects to her home network just fine (linksys), but the alienware will not. I enter in the network password, and when I try to connect, it gives me the yellow exclamation mark over the white connection bars. When I click on it, it says "connected" in bold letters next to the network name. However, above, it says "Unidentified network," and underneath, "No Internet access."I have tried disabling firewalls and anti-virus software, I have reset the router, the computer, the wireless adapter, all to no avail. I'm not sure what to do. I'm pretty sure it's not the router's issue since all other wireless devices in the house connect to it just fine.

What kind of laptop would be best?
My business is websites, so I almost automatically jump to an apple since its pushed more for the graphics/artists
But I also like the dells & alienwares.
I'd also like them to talk wirelessly/via bluetooth while they are in the same room together to "sync" up.
I'm just not sure which way to go.
I wont be gaming, just heaving internet surfing & web design/work.
I run Windows 7 64 & Ubuntu 64 (though I havent used it as much since Windows 7 64 came out)
I have an HP Pavilion G42-303DX. It's only about 8 months old. About 3 weeks ago after turning it on, a screen came up saying the cooling fan wasn't working and continued use could result in lost files. I went ahead and continued so I could backup files. Later in the day the fan made a funny noise and then started again. Since then it has been working. A few days ago the laptop started freezing randomly during use. The last couple of days it has been freezing every 10-15 minutes or so. I have to hold in the button to turn it off. I don't know if this is due to the fan maybe not properly cooling the laptop. According to HP my warranty has already ran out (I thought they typically lasted a year?). I imagine it would be cheaper at a repair shop than to send to HP if needed. But before I spent any money, I wanted to see if maybe it was a simple fix I could do myself. I ran startup repair and restored it to a previous day. It didn't fix the problem.
View 2 Replies View Related[code] Since purchase, every 2-10 minutes the laptop will freeze for 2-4 minutes during which in some instances I'll be able to move around with the mouse and switch tabs in chrome, but not much else, and in other cases it will be a complete freeze.
View 9 Replies View RelatedA few months ago my Laptop went freezing from times to times, for a few minutes and then un-freeze, to freeze again a few minutes later. So wondering what to do, I formatted my laptop to solve that problem. Sadly it didn't worked.
Having work to do i was forced to run my PC on Safe Mode for a couple of month. After a while I decided to go ''legit', again and I realized that my PC froze a few minutes after start-up but after a couple of hours, it would run smoothly for days. So the past few months my PC was running smoothly,... until recently, but now, it's worst than ever.
It freezes a few minutes after start-up... and even if I keep it on for days, I still can't do a thing, it un-freeze for like 2 seconds sometimes, then just to freeze again. It's driving me crazy. I'm planning to buy a new PC but I'm stuck with this one for a little while now, might as well try to do something with it. I don't think this is a problem of program or anything like this since even after I formatted it, I still had the same problem. Is my laptop just dead? (I'm on safe-mode right now).
So here's my specs-
Toshiba Laptop
Processor: AMD Athlon 64 x2 Dual Core TK-57 1.90ghz
Ram: 3 Gb
System : Windows 7 home premium 32 bit
I have a HP Pavillion DV6 laptop. Whenever I turn my laptop on and log on, a few minutes after logging on it freezes. Cant access anything, have to restart it. When turning on I gave it a scan by pressing escape and on the HP checks, the hard disk check it failed. Tried going into command prompt and doing chkdsk /f but get what's shown below.Checking file system on C:The type of file system is NTFS..One of your disks needs to be checked for consistency. You may cancel the disk check, but it is trongly recommended that you continue.Windows will now check disk.Cannot open volume for direct access. Autochk cannot run due to an error caused by a recently installed software package.Use system restore feature from the control panel to restore the system to a point prior to the recent software package installation. I can get into safe mode but that's all I can do.Would it be a good idea to reinstall windows, although I did it not that long ago (in the last two months or so) ? Or is there any programs that could save a hard drive. I really don't want to buy a new one. I've bought the laptop in Summer 2010 so its not too old. Although I think the vans sound quite loud and it overheats quite often, but I cannot take it off to get to them.

View 1 Replies View RelatedI have come over to the UK to visit family and my work laptop cannot browse for more than a couple of minutes at a time. Chat clients all work without issue, Dropbox doesn't have a problem. The Cisco VPN client connects happily when it needs to. Just the browsers stop being able to resolve IP addresses.I am connected to wireless correctly, I get an IP (192.168.0.6) from the router (192.168.0.1). DHCP provides the DNS without issue. I can ping the router and the ISP DNS servers...but still no joy.I managed to get some joy when running ipconfig /flushdns everytime it stopped. But this is inconsistent.Firefox, IE and Chrome all work for a couple of minutes after a reboot and then just stop being able to browse. As I said, when it stops, I can still ping everything listed above comfortably..but no host names resolve. My Android phone connects seemlessly and doesn't drop out. I am typing from my parents laptop at the moment..no issues, my brothers laptop, no problems.
Every device seems to work without issue except my work laptop, which I use wirelessly at home, in hotels, starbucks...you name it, I can use it no problem.I have removed the connection and re-added.I have connected via standard WPA2 key and last night tried via WPS. Each time, the laptop connects without issue, all of my messengers connect...2 minutes into browsing the web...DNS stops resolving. I even added Google DNS servers and set a manual IP...same issue each time.I found the Winsock Fix for Windows 7, applied it and restarted. So far so good...obviously, I will come back if it fails again
my laptop suddenly starts to go blank after a few minutes of use. I am using Windows 7 Home 64 bit. I have updated drivers and a good virus program. Nothing has changed recently.
View 1 Replies View RelatedSo i have had it for like a month now and i got it from a We Buy Gold shop something like a pawn store so it was basically used. The laptop was working fine fast and well i downloaded games such as mmo's grand chase and i played that and it ran really well no problems. Sometimes the game would have problems and i would have to press the power button to reset it and i did maybe like 20 times i know thats bad. And now for dome reason when i log into my laptop it would take a while for the windows screen to load and then i would be logged into my laptop i would go on google chrome and use the internet watch videos after about 5-8 good minutes google chrome would load slow and then clompetely stop loading and i would exit and google chrome and re-launch it after i re-launch it it wont come up and i would try launching other programs such as control panel or any of my mmo's and they wont even appear and then when i try pressing mutiple application at a time the cpu would freeze. It was way worse before sometimes i couldn't get past the windows log in loading screen i would be loading for like and hour and I would have to power rest AGAIN. My Windows 7 Dell laptop programs won't respond after 5 minutes
View 1 Replies View RelatedI have an Asus G50vt-x5 laptop (with windows 7 now, originally had vista), and my old battery was losing charge so quickly. So, i got a new one. I did everything you were supposed to, charged it up, discharged it, charged it again, etc.For some reason, i can just be playing or doing things on my laptop, and it'll randomly just lose ALL power. For example, i was playing a video game the other day and was at roughly 65% battery, and suddenly the computer just instantly died. And i don't know if any of you have seen an asus, but there is a little light on the panel with the power button for like a "quick start", and that light is ALWAYS on. but when the laptop died it wasn't. Which i take it means absolutely no power was going to the laptop.

The laptop keeps crashing randomly throughout the day while doing some editing in CorelDraw. Also, I changed the dump settings earlier from the default kernal dump to the 256kb settings. After doing that rather than the black screen crash the computer went haywire with a bunch of lines across the screen. I just started working at this small sports shop and this is their laptop, not mine.

View 4 Replies View RelatedI have been battling BSOD Power_State_Failures on my alienware m17x r3 for almost a year now and they have been occuring since day 2 out of the box with seemingly no pattern of frequency. Sometimes my system goes weeks without crashing and sometimes it'll crash 5 times within 3 minutes of startup on the same day doing easy tasks like watching netflix or editing a word doc without any change in location or physical setup. There does seem to be a pattern of crashing while playing League of Legends, but i read somewhere that the intel speedstep feature was causing BSODs and upon disabling it I rarely encounter power state failures while playing that specific game. However, my system still blue screens while doing things like watching netflix, browsing the internet, doing homework, etc.
