Laptop Slowing Down And Crashing Programs
Apr 19, 2012
I've restarted it multiple times. I have an HP Windows & Home Premium. I've also done a system restore. About 20 mins after turning it on, some the programs I'm running will either slow way down, close, or freeze. When I check for problems I get this:
Windows
Problem: Shut down unexpectedly

Every time I start up normally into Win7 everything is fine for a couple of minutes. I'll open a few programs, then after a few minutes of them running they'll hang and enter the 'not responding' mode. (firefox, steam, IE). If I don't already have task manager running the system will basically be unresponsive and the only thing I can do is reboot manually. If I have task manager running I can sometimes end a process or two but some will remain open & unresponsive. Any programs that are working (including task manager) disappear when I minimize them and no programs appear on the task bar, (though they can be retrieved with alt+tab).
McAfee also has 'real time scanning' permanently disabled.
This is all very strange as there was nothing wrong four days ago when I was away, and the symptoms occured within 2-3 minutes of booting up this evening. The system runs in safe mode.

Whenever I try to log into my laptop I just get a deformed taskbar, everything is running like there's 30MB of RAM installed and I can't even open task manager, eventually resulting in me having to crash the laptop after 10 minutes because nothing will progress. The reason I'm able to post right now, is because I'm in safe mode.Safe mode boots fine, let's me log in, and I'd use it except.. well.. It's safe mode. I can't access any sound or video card drivers so there's not much I can do.[CODE]

Just got a new Acer aspire laptop for christmas. Everything works fine except that every time I turn it on or wake it up, there's about a 10 minute period of non-stop disk activity that causes every other application to come to a grinding hault.I downloaded process monitor and checked it out, and found the two most-accessed files are two TMP files called MSI7895.tmp and MSI8BDA.tmp, both in the Windows installer directory. No idea what either of these files are for.I'm thinking this has something to do with the tons of bloatware that came on this laptop. It's a 2.3 GHz, quad-core CPU with 4GB of RAM. I'd just really like to stop this so it doesn't take 3 minutes to open an Explorer window

i dont know why but programs are always crashing on my desktop. it's really frustrating. games will also freeze or crash on me abruptly as well. is there a way to know what's failing? graphics or ram or something else? i've built and everything is working great but i think when i switched from 1 monitor to a 3-monitor setup i've been having more problems. i'm not 100% sure but that's all i can think of. a hardware diagnostics test of some sort would help give me an objective answer though.my desktop is a z68 mobo, i5-2500k stock, 8gb ram, and a gtx460 (768mb). i'm connected to 3 displays. the first is 1920x1080 and connected to the gtx460's microhdmi. the 2nd is 1920x1200 connected to the gtx460's dvi. the 3rd is connected to the onboard hd3000 dvi port. there's no visual lag or stutter when moving windows or anything. i can play 3 concurrent 1080p Internet videos on all 3 monitors without any lag. but when i'm gaming on high settings such as borderlands 2, it will just crash on me. it's not consistent enough to know what's causing it but my habits are to game on the 2nd monitor with windows media center playing live cable tv on the 3rd monitor and browsing and chatting on the 1st monitor.
is it crashing because i'm doing too many things that my graphics card can't handle? if so, why is it crashing instead of stuttering?
i also have a problem where if i'm gaming and then press alt+tab to minimize or switch windows, the graphics card will get messed up or downclock or something and the game's fps will drop drastically to like 5-10 fps until i reboot the computer.i also get the bsod sometimes where it says something about physical memory dump.

I have been having issues with computer such as programs crashing occasional bsod, 3-4 months ago had problems with windows sayin it wasn't genuine(it is, I bought it with computer) now for a while it wont run windows update(I checked on microsoft website and tried a few thing, Nothing works. Also windows defender won't update. So I backed up all my files to external hd, popped in win 7 cd tried to start fresh and it gives me bsod every time. Now I am wondering if its a hardware issue. I tried changing settings on bios to default and then back.

For the past few months now my computer has been running very slowly, with programs constantly crashing and at least 3 times a day I get a BSOD, sometimes more. The blue screens always either read Memory_Management or Page_Fault_In_Non_Paged_Area,and bluescreenview says that ntoskrnl.exe is the culprit.I have no idea how to read these logs andBesides the BSODS, the computer just isn't performing as well as it should.Applications always stop working, pages in chrome randomly crash and where I used to be able to get 60+ FPS in games, I now barely manage 40-50. For some reason I am also unable to complete a windows update.

So I recently purchased a new ASUS laptop, and everything has been fine except for windows 7. In particular, 32 bit programs will inexplicably crash at random times, and when they do, they often all crash at the same time. For example, Steam, windows media player, uTorrent, and Firefox all crashed at the exact same time a few days ago, and several other simultaneous crashes have happened since. IE8, which has to run in 32bit mode for college related applications, crashes frequently as well, and has nearly compromised my work on several occasions.
I've tried recreating it, but I can't. The only thing they have in common is that they are all 32 bit programs, even things widows photo gallery(which is 32bit) crash randomly.

My computer crashes when I go to join my server in Minecraft and when I run Windows Experience Index. Except, only when i have Skype or Utorrent open. Now the reason I'm posting this in the Windows 7 forum is because this didn't happen with windows 8. Which is making me think strongly that this is software related. In event viewer it was giving me "critical error 41 kernel power'

I have an Inspiron N4010, and one night, it worked perfectly, and the next morning it wouldn't start. So I had to restore my PC to the factory image. Now, many programs on my computer crash only minutes, or even seconds, after executing them. I do not understand why. I have not deleted any files, I have not messed with anything, and I have kept my PC up to date, as well as protected. There is no reason for why my computer runs the way it does.

The laptop keeps crashing randomly throughout the day while doing some editing in CorelDraw. Also, I changed the dump settings earlier from the default kernal dump to the 256kb settings. After doing that rather than the black screen crash the computer went haywire with a bunch of lines across the screen. I just started working at this small sports shop and this is their laptop, not mine.

I own a Samsung QX410 and while I was browsing the Internet it crashed and would not start normally without crashing. So I've tried running Repair my system, even Repair my computer from my windows disk. But every time I do that it comes to a blue splash screen (with the bird, leaf, etc.) and it would not do anything. No options would come up and it would just sit there.

My laptop is crashing quite frequently and has been happening several times a day for a few months now. After doing a virus check and removing programs and updating drivers, it did not solve the problem, so I decided to back up all my files and reinstall windows hoping that it would resolve the problem, but it hasn't.

just got myself a new laptop and windows explorer is constantly crashing/restarting when I browse or use the explorer in any way. Examples are when I browse around, click save as (which crashes also the program, a big issue for me) or even when I installed the windows SDK just now it crashed 5 times during the installation.I searched around a little, but so far no luck. I tried: - Running Safe-Mode (problem persists) - Do a cleanboot - do a virus check - copy explorer.exe from c:/windows to c:/windows/system32 - Update all drivers.- uninstall firefox OperatingSystemMS Windows7HomePremium64-bit SP1InstallationDate:28October2011,23:58CPU IntelCore i7 @2.00GHz SandyBridge32nmTechnologyRAM 16.0 GB Dual-Channel DDR3 @665MHz(9-9-9-24) Motherboard ASUSTeKComputerInc. I just reinstalled Windows 7 and I already feeling its a bit slow...Is it because of the Svchost? Or is just my laptop is getting old? (its five years old now) Does the Harddisk have any effects on the responsiveness of the operating system?
Also, my other laptop, when it boots, it gives me 'Windows 7" and "Ramdisk Option" What is that?

I have a Lenovo G560, about 8 months old. Lately, after about 2 hours use, it begins to get slower and slower until in the end it freezes.I have de fragged, run virus scans and done a registry cleaner etc, but it make no difference. It does not appear to be getting over heated as the fan kicks in and out, not permanently running.

Our setup is as follows: Users are in a remote location connected by satellite link to the domain server. The domain server is DNS and DHCP server for client computers. Because of the satellite connection data transmission has a longer than normal latency delay but transfer speeds are not bad (0.5 mps).I can understand that when logging in, a client computer might experience a longer login time as Windows communicates with the domain server to validate credentials. However, after logging in, are there network activities being performed by the client computer with the domain server on a permanent basis that would make the client computer much slower than normal while performing local tasks? Users report that when logged into the domain, their computers slow down significantly even when opening files on their hard disks. It might be that other issues are causing the problem, but I would like to understand better how the client - server relationship works when logged into a domain so that we can test further.

[Windows 7 Ultimate; Intel Quadcore 6600 2.4 GHz; Asus P5E Mainboard, 4GB RAMvia cable to BT Infinity router.]I have BT's Infinity Broadband, but something odd is happening with itand BT say Windows 7 itself is the problem.By way of comparison I have my little Samsung N210 Netbook (Windows 7 Starter edition) running directly beside (see the above specs) my desktop machine. The Netbook is connected wirelessly.I use Advanced System Care Pro, BT Infinity Desktop Help, and CCleaner to keep both machines (otherwise) singing.So. How come my little Netbook averages 25.4 Mb download speedwhile my super-duper desktop averages only 4.79? Those being regularly indicative figures, that's an 81% difference.

We have a 20Mb line with a 2Mb upload. When checking speed testing sites, we're always getting full speeds. When downloading using Steam or uTorrent (Anything that manages its own downloads) I can get 2.4 - 2.5MB/s download. But when I'm using any form of web browser, firefox, IE ect. Loading pages can take 10-20 seconds, pictures 30seconds-2minutes. Downloads are much much slower, around 500KB/s and while videos usually load fast enough they sometimes drop their connection and stop buffering.

Recently my computer has been freezing and slowing down a lot when I use it. At first I thought it was a driver issue since my computer only freezes whenever I am watching a video or listening to music, I think I installed the right driver but my computer is still freezing ( a strange side effect from the freezing is if there is any audio, it will slow down and start to stretch out). After a few minutes it will revert back to normal like nothing happened.
Also my computer isn't running smoothly anymore, many times when I type, the words jump to completion. When I scroll, it jumps and doesn't smoothly scroll down the page. I tried everything from defragging to updating every driver and program possible and still the problems persist.

trying to put my music collection into the computer using windows media player. Using MP3 format and "best quality". First cd rips quickly. subsequent ones are very slow, taking 15-20 mins. Is this a process of "copy protection" built into the cd's?
If so why when ripping a double cd does the first disc go quickly and not the second.
