Apr 30, 2012I have an Acer w/ 8gb of ram(Newly installed was 4gb) w/ a 1TB HDD. On idle it range's from about 16-20%(1200-1600mb) I've had a few windows open w/ music video's plying etc. and it's never gone past 28% that's why I think at idle its high.
Is this normal. I opened up task manager under memory and closed some thing's I didn't need but it still seems pretty high.

Jul 7, 2012I have a Sony Vaio with Windows 7 installed on it. Recently, my computer was attacked by a virus. As soon as I noticed, I turned off the computer manually, and booted back up in safe mode. I ran Avast, Ad-Aware and Malwarebytes Anti-Malware. All 3 found a couple of threats, which I deleted. I tried restarting my computer, and then running these 3 again in safe mode (with network). I did it as long as threats were found. Once the computer felt safe, I tried booting in normal mode.
Here's the problem : I get to the "Welcome" page, and then everything goes black but my cursor. What's strange about the problem : For some reason, I did succeed to get it to open normally 2 or 3 times, but every single time it would be crazy laggy. Internet Explorer wouldn't work either. It freezes as soon as I try to access anything. And now it's back to a black screen after the "Welcome" page when I try booting in normal mode. Only my cursor appears (I can move the cursor). Safe Mode works just fine too, only Normal mode has a problem.

Dec 16, 2011Yesterday, I added malware bytes protection and also last night installed avg 2012. Ran scans, everything was moving faster. Shut down last night...and this morning windows will not come on in normal or safe mode. When try to start in safe mode it says STOP: c0000135 program cannot start %hs is missing. On another post with similar code it had a link to put on usb drive and to put in infected laptop and restart with f8. When I did that it said no bootable partition in table. When usb is not in it just goes back to stop message. I have a dell inspiron core i3 (I don't know if that matters). I have tried running restore to previous time and it did not work. when i click on repair it goes to the launch window or start in safe mode option?

May 25, 2011I have win7 on C drive and WinXPsp3 on D drive. Drives are separate. You can see full specs below.
I boot into XP on D fine. I can also boot into Win7 on C fine, but here is the catch. The computer wants to go into a chkdsk if I boot into win7. If I let the computer do this it goes through a very long process and when it comes out of that process it reboots and goes through its normal procedure.
But then when it gets to the very last step, the step where it shows the wallpaper, icons and taskbar, all I get is blank screen.
If I boot into safe mode I can see everything. If I boot into safemode with networking I can see everything. As a matter of fact that is how I am typing this message now.
What do I need to do to get my computer to boot correctly?

Aug 10, 2012I am using Windows 7 Pro on a Dell Inspiron 1520. Today, when I attempted to start the unit, I heard a rapid beeping that was uncontrollable until I clicked the Control Key. There are no error messages. I have done 2 cold boots and a memory diagnostic (which found no errors) with no positive results. It begins right when the screen indicates it is Starting Windows. Once I get past that, it seems to operate normally, but I am concerned there is a root problem that will surface with disastrous results at a later time.

The system initially booted up fine but didn't see the new drive. After checking to see if all the ports were enabled in the bios I tried again. The system then didn't see any hard drives. I pulled out the IDE and re-started. The system now will see the boot hard drive but will not boot in either safe or normal modes.
