If I have 2 or more windows open (Windows Explorer or any other application), the most active window always seems to switch to the right on the task bar in the grouping order, is there any way to stop this? I keep having to relaunch to keeping the keep the applications in the order I want on the task bar. Quit assuming I want the most active window on the right Windows! I Don't!
View 3 Repliesin vista if I used my media keyboard to open a program it would open but now, whilst browsing with firefox and im listening to media monkey and its on the taskbar in vista I could press the media player button on my keyboard and it would bring media monkey to the front, same if i press calc button now all they do is flash on the taskbar till I hover and click them
can I bring this back somehow is this meant to be happening?
I could hold down the Fn key, a large black bar with symbols in it would drop down from the top edge of the screen, I never paid much attention to what was in that, but then I would hit the Prtsc button. Then when I pasted it into Paint, it was ONLY the active window.Now when I hit the Fn key, the black bar does not drop down and when I hit the Prtsc button the entire screen is copied, not just the active window. View 7 Replies View RelatedI seem to have a problem with my computer deselecting my active window and normally i wouldn't care but it happens like every minute or so. i can't even type this without interruption. i've looked at my processes in task manager, and the only difference i see is that it will have svchost and windows error reporting activate for a few seconds before going away again. this leads me to believe i have a problem except it doesn't tell me what said problem is. i have looked at similar threads, but i haven't found a solution that worked. the only action that i've tried is turning off the error reporting except that just replaces the deactivating window with a constant notification that host process has stopped working and i need to close the program.

I am frequently running multiple tasks at once, and having a dialogue box pop up and move the focus of my cursor while typing a sql script or email is extremely aggravating. i have three partitions. P1) 1 logical with windows 7 RC, P2) 1 primary and system, (not clean install) with windows 7 7600, and P3) 1 primary with windows 7 7600, (formatted partition before installed). my problem happend when i tried to set the active partition from "P2" to "P3" using EASEUS. I used "P1" while doing this. after restarting, my machine won't boot. It shows the manufacturer logo, and then followed by a black screen with a flashing cursor on the upper left corner, doing nothing. i let this stand for ten mins but, still, nothing happens. is this normal? i also noticed the manufacturer logo showing a little longer than usual. after 10mins, i decided to restart my machine but the same thing happens. i managed to make a repair disc before this happen. so, i boot in to the repair disc. i tried startup repair but nothing changed. i tried setting the active partition again using CMD. i also tried system restore to "P1" which i used to open EASEUS. and it also failed.

As this article points out, you can switch windows by hovering if you enable it through:
Control Panel> Ease of Access> Change How Your Mouse Works
scroll down, check box "Activate a window by hovering over it with the mouse"
this method raises windows to the front when you hover over them.

I am working in an office that uses dual screens to view stocks and things. When the users hit PrtSc, the system prints BOTH screens. I thought there was a hotkey that allows printing of the "active" screen only. The users are not in a position to paste things to the clipboard or snip. They just need a quick print of their ACTIVE screen.

What I did was right click, go to screen resolution, and clicked on "Make text and other items larger or smaller". From this I changed it to 100% from 125%. I noticed it had changed my font size to the 100%. It then made everything SUPER small when I changed my theme settings.Whenever I right click and go into personalization settings, I do the usual customizing to my likings. Since I want to save the theme, I do so by naming it, blah. Now I want to use the blah theme by click on it, and I do so. Everything is fine and dandy until I right click my desktop to refresh(out of habit). This is the before and after of the font sizes.

My workaround was to set a custom DPI setting, log off like it prompts me to, then changing it back to 100%, again prompting to do so. It is so annoying to do so.
Whenever I search in Windows 7, I want to have the ability to open found folders in a new window. If I r-click, that option is not there. Is there a way to add this to Windows 7?
Also: When I go to 'open file location', the file's folder opens in the same window - highly annoying. In Vista, it opens in a new window. Anyway to change this behvior in Windows 7 to act like Vista, so the file opens in a new window?
I am running into an issue where I can open a window/program with my mouse however once the window is open I cannot click inside of it. The window becomes inactive. I also have noticed I cannot right click on my desktop to bring up the properties. I can right click on the window in the task bar to close it but not in the window. Since this is happening I am limited to command prompt. I ran sfc /scannow with no errors. I tried with 3 different mice. I booted the computer into safe mode with command prompt and brought up the device manager to show devices not in use, and when the device manager window opened I could click inside it! since I could use the window I uninstalled all mouse drivers, and reinstalled my microsoft wireless usb mouse driver.. while in this safe mode I changed my mouse properties to system default as I read somewhere that can reset things. Next I booted the computer in safe mode (without command prompt) and still the same thing. I was trying to do a restore point as well however my Kaspersky antivirus 2012 is preventing that as i cannot find a way to kill the program through command prompt.

View 5 Replies View Relatedi have a very small but very nagging problem concerning my internet connection. Sometimes the connection turns itself off, to counter this on the connection properties menu of Windows (this screen, it's in portuguese but i think you know what i'm talking about))
i simply turned on the option to reconnect when the connection goes down, every 10 seconds in this case and i make it so it does NOT have to ask for the phone number. The whole purpose is so that it reconnects itself when i'm not at the computer. It works, the problem is that every time i make a new connection, every time the computer starts, for instance, all these options turn back to default! I have to do it all over again every time i make a new connection! Wich is all the time!
I have both a windows vista and win 7 laptop, while using the computer if more then one window is open. The inactive windows will pop up over the foreground window. Maybe part of a new windows feature? I don't think its a malware issue its present on both laptops one being brand new. It makes working on the computers rather hard ...

It may have something to do with avast antivirus because thats the image thats listed next to the files in those drives. I checked with avast and it doesnt appear to be running any scans and theres no way I can find to have it skip that drive. Also when I put the drive back online the activity is at 0 but eventually goes back to 100% and I can hear the drive activity.
