I'm having trouble getting past the black screen reading A:> with a flashing cursor at the end. Every time I enter something I get command or filename not recognized. All I want is to get past this and into my Acer laptop again.

Boot with a recovery CD (or try Repair Installation directly without a CD) -- it hangs on the green loading bar forever.
I dual-boot Ubuntu and can get into the Ubuntu partition fine so I don't think anything is necessarily wrong with the harddrive, but the Ubuntu partition is tiny and I rarely use it and can't access my Windows files anyway.
Is there anything I can try that'll help repair whatever happened? I just want to run a checkdisk utility or something similar that'll repair whatever got botched.

I have ACER Aspire 1652 laptop which was preinstalled with XP it has a Centrino 1.73 G and 2 GIG of memory installed and 80 gig hard drive and I want to install Windows 7 but ACER do no longer supply any drivers for Windows 7 for chipset, graphics, LAN drivers for Windows 7. Does Windows 7 have the necessary drivers?

The problem is when i try and open things like "explore windows 7" or close/signout and exit msn live or things like that. it doesn't open or sign out that programme, and just opens the win32 folder in windows explorerhat is it doing, and why is it doing it? its been doing it since i got the laptop, acer say its software and not their problem.
